My hypothesis as to why backwards compatibility can be more/less expensive PS2 fat - has a full blown PS1 inside. You're technically running both consoles. PS2 slim - a bit cheaper, as more efficient hardware is being used. PS3 HW - Again, it had a full PS2 built in. If playing PS1 games, you're basically running the hardware for all 3 systems. PS3 SW emulated - no ps2 overhead, so running ps1 games is cheaper than ps2 slightly cheaper. PS5 (ps4 disc) - you're running the game AND also powering the disc drive. PS5 (digital ps4) cheaper, as the disc drive isn't in use
Which would you want me to look at next? Xbox or Nintendo backwards compatibility?
Stay safe ♥
I think Xbox would work best
nice, i had a ps3 60gb cecha01 console, my manufactured date: march 2007?
I’ve always wondered this. It also confirmed my hypothesis.
I still have my ps2 and ps3 because they dont like making shit backwards compatible. I wish I could play all my games on one console ffs
the ps2 is really hard to emulate and its actually pretty impressive sony even managed it on the ps3, so im honestly nor surprised here

Interesting approach. What mods would you suggest?
Honestly just emulation.. rn I gotta series tht can emulate ps2, wii, game cube etc.. and a BW compatible ps3 .. so far I'm happy ..
