I know this video's over a year old, but my gosh I can't help but need to type this... Why does every Console vs PC argument think that you optimize for the PC's specific hardware... You CAN, when you launch a game and Nvidia's logo flashes, that's because Nvidia helped to eek out a bit of extra performance on that game... but games on PC are not written for hardware, they're written for APIs. This slightly has a performance penalty than directly talking to hardware, but it also makes it so hardware doesn't matter. Game talks to API, which talks to OS, which talks to Drivers, which talks to hardware. The insignificant performance penalty doing it this way is overcome by the fact that the games then don't need to care what you run. They can poll the hardware to see what features are enabled, like DLSS, Ray Tracing and such, but they don't need to be specifically coded for Nvidia's 40 series. The drivers need to accept API calls. It's up to Nvidia, AMD and Intel to ensure their graphics cards can process those calls as efficient and powerful as they can. This is the single biggest reason why you can still play early 2000s games on a future RTX 50 series... and likely see a performance increase barring game engine limitations. Fucking hell. I'm not a game developer. I just research and love PCs and the way they functions. Consoles also use APIs these days as it makes backwards compatibility work much better. Xbox literally means "DirectX Box", the API Windows uses for graphics calls. You code games and game engines for a specific API. You do not code for hardware... This whole "PC has billions of combinations" argument is a solved fucking problem.

A thing gameranx forgets is that consoles offer a safe and steady environment for games to be developed. If there are 10 million PS5s out there, they are exactly the same so the developers know the limitations of what they are working with. On the other side if there are 10 million PCs, this means 10 million different types of hardware so its impossible for the developers to cover everything. But even with that difficulty patches come out which iron the performance and stability.

I'm not even talking like games that just havent been ported forwards to current console gens, I am talking stuff like Battlefeild 2142 which has been kept alive by comunity servers (which EA constantly shut down but whatever) for *years* at this point.
also, yes GTA 4 and other games need you to download fanpatches to fix games... but isnt that a good thing? like... I can get a game, and then I can make it better than the devs ever intended. I can fix lingering problems they just never dealt with, Hell I can fix problems they didnt even know existed because they have shown up as PC hardware has progressed. on PC software, Games, never die. they get old and you might need to install some stuff to get them running, but like... you can run them.
ppl who defend consoles are just like little kids defending their toys, irrational, emotional and full of sht...
I’m honestly shocked Falcon didn’t use certain old games needing Dosbox as a point against PCs. Edit: I made it. It’s the end. I’m alive. Hahaha! Thank God!
If I had a dollar for everytime someone brings up Arkham Knight, I'd have enough for a 40 series card
Like as a console fanboy, why would you even try to bring up Arkham Knight in 2023. It's 2023💀
GameRanx thinking they arent corporate, you got to love those selective memories of theirs, considering they were among the first gaming channels whodidnt knew how fast they had to gamers under the bus when to kiss ass to Sarkeesian, Wu, Maggs, fake Bully Hunters etc appeared on the scene. To please the various publishers and bigger media platforms. Not to mention these two also largely supported the witch hunts against various devs back in the day. I swear those two are a stain to gaming.
Some PC Game ports definitely do need to be looked at. Us having to wait a year, being beta testers, and just broken ports all together. Still better than consoles most of the time, but this talk is still necessary.
With PC gaming still being big early on, don’t forget we got doom in 1993
Love how they bring up issues that were patched. Hey, when is Sega gonna patch all the technical issues with Sonic Boom on the WiiU?
Sonic Boom was designed as 4-player co-op PC game.
Then they decided that it was a WiiU exclusive and they stripped features until it was almost functional on that (failed) console.
I tried to play it on emulator and would love a fan-restoration mod/patch, no amount of compute horsepower will make it good. :D
dedicated ram is good, it means that you can use cheaper memory for the components that don't work that fast, like the cpu. 16 gb of gddr6 memory is worthless to a cpu.
wait.
Joe got a sponsor !??
im literally shed tear to see how far you got here m8.
PC Masterace is forever truth, bow before the obvious!
I happy to see you getting sponsors. Keep up the good work!
Wow the number of half-truths, outdated narratives and false claims they tell here is a league of its own.
It’s official, fanboyism has migrated to birds
I also saw this video's title and said to myself : oh boy please gameranx, here you dont go again
Gameranx has always been a joke since I can remember. I see they're still going strong
Falcon takes the L in this Gameranx video
I feel slightly called out when you mentioned the 10 people thing, cause I was one of them
But on the proper note, you have to be willingly ignorant to make the arguments Falcon makes *UNIRONICALLY*
And just listening to him talk about hating corporate greed then shilling for a company that makes you pay just to access your own internet and on average will charge more for games over time instead of what you pay on pc is just hilarious to me
I genuinely expected to hear the family guy transition music when he segue'd into the sponsor.
Gaming journalism at its best.
That's funny, I was firing up the Saints Row reboot right as you brought it up in your video. 😅
Mere coincidence? I think not.
All I have to say about that video is. Steam Deck. Y'know the PC gaming handheld with a console like experience and essentially console hardware that runs PC software in a handheld format.
The steam deck is a PC
@@durshurrikun150 XBOX can be a PC too. I just need to install Windows on it. Bam my own PC. I can already connect a mouse a keyboard to it without installing Windows to it.
@@minisithunknown5568 No, it can't.
Unless you jailbreak it, it can't be a PC.
You can't install windows on it and you can use a controller on PC.
Steam big picture mode = console experience.
Am I the only person that did not have a problem running Arkham Knight?
Hey same what were you specs btw?
I was gonna bring out fallout new vegas, but just the fact that you can mod it on pc just ruins any arguement for that game.
The guy narrating the videos fort them sounds like he is just arrogant and is being patronizing and condescending towards you while watching the video also 😂 😂
From what I'm getting at on this vid is that pc are generally better then consoles. Some games are jusr poorly optimised for pc and thats why some games run better on console then pc at times.
As far as I am aware most recent bad PC port of a game, which I have not played the PC version, but based on what I have seen of people's reaction to it is The Last Of Us which I don't know the reason for that one, but I am assuming the frustration for that port is probably true.
PC is an afterthought for developers. That's why pc gayming blows.
Oh yeah it blows so much, PC gaming only gets, better framerates, better prices, better and free online, better cloud saves, mod support, the ability to make the game look or run as good as YOU want.
Yeah it blows so much, it's better for the company to tell me what i want!

Because Devs Fail to Optimize for PC Ports... it's PCs Fault and Failure of PCs
Not a failure of PC really it actually shows how limitless PC is and how wide the range of specs are it's not a set standard universally like Xbox, ps, Nintendo so it's hard to optimize when every PC in the world is different it's pros and cons the pros are far greater
After seeing this I immediately sent this dumpster fire to joe I’m glad me & 9 other people agreed on that
I dont know man at 3:42 you compare your 1080p PC Set Up to a Video-console that put out 1440p upscales to 4K and hit nearly 60 on a S|X.
The only Grafic-card anno 2024 that put out good Frame-rates at 4K on PC is the RTX 4090 and that Card burns down Power Cables.
On Amd side, we have that Radeon RX 7900 XTX for 800$, that Machine is made for 1440p Gaming but works good on 4K too.
Whats so ever PC is always the better Option for Gaming but i cant hear your 1080p Frame-rate PC Set-up to 4K Console Frame-rate Comparisons anymore.
Video Consoles like Xbox and PS5 made for 4K Smart TVs in the Living room and have to delivery that Resolution. Upscaled from whatever or native.
AHHHHHHH JOE'S FACE!!!!
Bro what’s the game in the background
God! Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla. That's all Falcon does. GET TO THE FUCKING POINT ALREADY!
This was dumbest video ever from a fairly smart creator, and he doesn't include the biggest 9th gen release "cyberpunk" which was only playable on PC .
Consoles games will always sell more not bc there better at all but because the reality is a nice amount of PC gamers get all there games for free console gamers will never be able to get AAA games for free PCs are not reliant on gaming sales to be successful
My main gaming platform is Pc but I do play switch/Ps for the exclusives games I'm a Pc through and through started gaming on ps1 back in the 90's during on my 2nd grade school and turned to PC gaming during high school on early 2000's what I hate about PC gaming are the elitist PC gamers who always say PC is the best 4k on 120 fps but those people are running their games on a 1050ti they like to brag about 4k while they don't even have entry level gpu I know personally in my life people like that but I know someone who has a 4080 but still has always some good things to say about console. Dont get me wrong I don't like consoles I much love Pc gaming my ps5 is just collecting dust while it's waiting for GTA6 but this trolling about 4k 120fps on a gtx 1050ti bullsht needs to stop.
How can you write a wall of BS with one punctuation?
from what i understood: I play DMC5 @ 4K 60fps or 1440p 120fps maxxed out on my RX6700, it cost 380€
But im a Linux gamer, the only thing i brag about. :D
Edit: my tv is a second hand 4K/60hz and my monitor is 1440p/144hz, for clarity
A thing gameranx forgets is that consoles offer a safe and steady environment for games to be developed. If there are 10 million PS5s out there, they are exactly the same so the developers know the limitations of what they are working with. On the other side if there are 10 million PCs, this means 10 million different types of hardware so its impossible for the developers to cover everything. But even with that difficulty patches come out which iron the performance and stability.
And drivers...
I don't mean playing sekiro 30fps on release
I love Gameranx! The best Gameranx videos are Before You Buy!
Falcon specifically turned me off of Gameranx, I'm sure he's not the only writer for the episodes he's in
uh oh,
he's doing a gameranx video. i love those guys, but do keep it honest
Gameranx are a bunch of ps fanboys

The SNES's CPU wasn't even made by Nintendo. It's a fucking Ricoh.
Glad to come home from and see a joefromseattle video, and oh boy GameRanx glad i unsubbed long ago falcon's voice is annoying to glad someone is calling out the bull and nice coming full circle correcting GameRanx and falcon.
Can wonder some believes them cause "omg their sub count is high they must be right" god i hope not.
First of all, congrats on finishing watching a video first :D
Second of all, fuck VPNs.....seriously....
VPN's have their uses for many people, it's not wise to generalize. But POG that he's got a sponsor & is making some mula. "Sponsor block" is a nice browser extension, have a look.
Why hate on a VPN?
That videos comment section was something else. Console gamers trying so hard to justify their purchases, "PC gamers" switching to consoles, PC elitists, console gamers calling out the pc master race. Pretty entertaining read
I made it i watch all the video ! Joe are u prode me ? srly some "Game news" need to check the video before release it or maybe throw for some subscriber friend early to see the reaction and opinion, because oh boy the amount of shit from this video is astonishing
Honestly I think the video was fine & it NEEDS to be discussed, I am getting pissed at these lack luster ports, it's unacceptable & not good enough! This is coming from a full-blown pirate, so I'm not even financially invested.
Edit-You're getting too close to PC fanboy territory man, yes the PC versions are still better ultimately (after a few patches allot of the time) but the issue is even with recommended specs some of these games aren't running properly at all, the console versions can & are in most cases still inferior, but I don't care about those platforms, I care about the PC & it's not good enough, I'm thinking of upgrading my CPU just so I can brute force my way through some of these issues & that's NOT OK! At all. Yes I have the option to do so, but that's not the point lol
Edit again-Looking from the outside in, you're the pretentious prick here BTW, hopefully you'll recognize it.
Edit-within a week after this comment there's another big AAA release that has come out in an absolutely awful state, "the last of us part 1 pc" so yes this needs to be discussed & brought to the limelight and not just brushed to the side.
I hope he realizes to not listen to you, he’s right after all
@@themultiversalmagpie7827 *fingers crossed* I'll just expect better from my fav hobby, but you do you.
Edit- Also it's just an opinion, there's zero hard feelings, this is just gaming after all (I say what i think regardless of people's feelings) lol If I cared more I'd open up a discussion on why you think I'm not correct, but it's a waste of both of our time, let's be real. TC
A few lack luster ports are not a widespread issues, they are the fault of lazy developers, not of the platform.
Or you simply wait for the ports to be fixed and then you pirate them, peasant.

Joefromseattle is telling lies and not giving the developers credit for pushing Xbox 360 and Xbox one apu to the limit and that also causes overheating. The pc is shit when it comes to pushing the hardware to the limit. The pc can’t fully use the power of the cpu and gpu because the pc isn’t controlled by the developer.
Nice bait
