1- pick the freshest pineapple you can find.. 2- cut it up a day in advance to reduce acid burn
    3- juice the pineapple
    saved your life haha.. :)

Thanks a lot. Back then, I used to eat pineapple a lot and I really enjoyed them, but I would always get this weird irritation/burning/stinging sensation on my tounge and I would I have to wait out the burning sensation or go to sleep. Thanks for making this video, it helped me a lot

One of the best things I ever tasted in my life was in a bar at the New York Shore where they made Pina Coladas with real coconut and pineapple ... all mixed up and served inside the hollowed out pineapple. Never liked coconut before until that moment, it was amazingly good.

The Hawaiian pineapple is like nothing you find in stores in the states! The Hawaii gold is the best sweetest I've ever tasted and doesn't bother our mouths. Wish we could reliably find it in Las Vegas.

I love crunching the pineapple core! When I visited a lady with two young boys in Durban, South Africa, I helped cut up some small round pineapples. I was trimming off the core and one of the boys said 'Mom! She's cutting off the best part!' That was when I learned to love pineapple cores.

Canning was invented in 1806, not the 1900's. That's more than 200 years old.
Before canning, people used many other methods of preservation including drying, pickling, salting, smoking, fermentation, jamming, jellying, jugging, freezing, sugaring, and combinations thereof. Canning is only the second most recent development in preservation, with only freeze-drying being more recent. This is not to say that raw foods weren't eaten, it's just that you get a week to eat your raw food, and during that week, you'd best be preserving everything that you can't consume while fresh.
Also, as you should well know, many foods of the ancient world required processing of some kind in order to be healthy. Most legumes must be cooked before eating as they contain toxins. Nearly all tubers must be cooked to eliminate toxins as well, including the common potato and most yams. Castor oil may be good for you, but avoid eating the beans as they contain ricin, eating only ONE castor bean contains enough ricin to potentially kill you, two is a near certainty. Everyone should know by adulthood that Bitter Almonds contain cyanide, until the oil is extracted safely (sweet almonds are safe to eat). Of course, we also know not to eat rhubarb greens, as they are just as poisonous as tomato and potato greens and stems.
Some foods increase in nutritional value when cooked, like mushrooms, corn, and tomatoes.
Raw food just doesn't provide enough calories. You have to get out more than you put in, and raw food takes a lot more work (meaning calories) for your muscles and organs to chew and digest, resulting in a net decrease in the amount of calories available for the rest of your cells. But you can only spend so many hours of the day eating--there must be time to sleep, forage and procreate, too. This limits the amount of calories you can get per day, and it turns out this is directly related to how many neurons you can grow. Cooking most vegetables frees up the nutrition, especially carbohydrates, and makes them easier to digest.
Basically, Raw does not guarantee healthy food.

Is that still due to bromaline?

Ive told several people about my reaction to pineapple and i havent found anyone else who gets the same burning response, so I'm concluding that not everybody is sensitive to the enzymes in it.

Very valuable! I never knew how pineapples grow either. I kind of thought they grew on trees too! I've been so disappointed in the pineapples I buy, and my mouth has gotten so burned that I've about given up...but you give me hope! I think I will try to order the particular ones you mentioned. Worth any extra cost to be assured of getting a good pineapple!

  • @AwesomeFish12

Bromelain has a whole range of health benefits, so eating a high bromelain pineapple can be a good thing, provided it's not so concentrated that it burns, or you eat it in moderation to avoid the burn. The core and stem contains higher concentrations than the rest of the fruit, so that's what you want to be eating if bromelain is what you're after.

John, I find that burn only occurs when you eat the fruit near the skin. The first time it happened I was in Hawaii it was very ripe and sweet but we ate it off the skin...then couldn't taste anything for days. So if you try to get every drop of fruit you do more harm than good. I thought it was the eyes which are small prickers but having a chemical in the outer edge makes more sense .

  • @hilarymorgan9006

thanks for the pineapple burn tips!! I love pineapple so much that I suffer from this often...especially because I'm lucky to get a ripe pineapple in the store...I've always wondered why this happens...but I agree that it does seem to help cutting it up the day before and fridging it, or letting it sit for a couple days on the counter before cutting...I always did this because it helped the taste but I didn't know it was also helping reduce the burn!! again, thanks for the knowledge!

John, the local grocery stores in my area (Roseburg, Oregon) suck for pineapples many of them are already rotten inside and it can be hard to tell from the outside. How can I get my stores to do better? I have a similar problem with young coconuts having the meat already hardened!

Next time you buy a fresh pineapple also buy a jar of marshmallow cream/fluff. My grandmother used to give us fresh pineapple chunks with a spoon of marshmallow fluff on top for dessert (or an after school snack) and it is FABULOUS!!! I admit that it's kind of a fight to keep the marshmallow fluff from sliding off the juicy pineapple, but it's worth the fight, I promise!
