    Well done thank you for short listing those sites. I’ve been operating a brick and mortar gallery that doubles as a creative space between a few friends. We’ve struggled in our market (alaska) with a lot of lame middle men galleries or coffee shops that don’t really put proper venue together for art installations. I think the best thing about running the gallery has been realizing how much validation and support it brings to local art community by being willing to make a home for the art community because we are selves are artists.

    • @AnthonyCrammen
      @AnthonyCrammen  4 года назад +1

      No problem! 🙂 I think both artists and galleries are struggling quite a bit at the mo worldwide. But yeah brick and mortsr galleries are very important for the creative community (most of them anyway) so I'm sure there are many people that appreciate you being there! 🙂

    Selling your own art online is really the equivalent to a musician busking on the street - It is not high status (but at least the busker gets to keep pretty much all of the money). All online galleries like Saatchi Art are "Vanity Galleries" - Most people will never make a reasonable living by selling on them. They are not about breaking new artists, they are about selling painterly wallpaper based on fashionable art from the past.

    When you say that you have absolute control upon sales and delivering the art to the buyer it also means that the platform doesnt do nothing for you, except allowing you to be part of them (plus they charge commission) So ... not sure if thats good thing. We have an etsy shop and its the same, they dont share or advertise or do nothing for you, just allow to be there and charge ... ! For such service we'd rather prefer to sell directly through social media, much cheaper and no commissions, n'est pas? ;)

    Hi Anthony, is it me or is the search engine on Saatchi very odd and confusing ? My wife has many paintings submitted in the last few weeks and yet when I select from the left margin certain criteria (Art type/price/country/and colour code from the palate) it never once brings up any of her paintings. How on earth are buyers going to find her if this doesn't work ? Ditto for my photography. It seems that it favours only certain artists who sell which is unfair.

    • @AnthonyCrammen
      @AnthonyCrammen  4 года назад +2

      Hi Ian. Yeah you'll find that, it's similar with pretty much all sites (including RUclips) they have built in algorithms that favour artists etc who are performing better than others which means smaller creators have to try even harder to be seen and visible. I'd work on promoting your art on social media or if you're are finding artwork that is over saturated, try to add a bit of a spin on it so it stands out from the rest. It's a tough one though, I've been there (I'm still there) so I don't have all the answers I'm afraid! It's a grind and a bloody hard one!!

    • @Ian-gw2vx
      @Ian-gw2vx 4 года назад +1

      @@AnthonyCrammen Thanks. That's a shame as it almost seems pointless if Saatchi makes some invisible to buyers. Not very democratic at all and very biased. Even if they prioritised the top sellers, at least they could include all the rest. In fact, if I select to display paintings from lowest to highest price, that also does not work as prices come up random so something is def wrong with their search. I don't find social media very useful (Twitter/Instagram etc) so looks like I am goosed.

    • @AnthonyCrammen
      @AnthonyCrammen  4 года назад +2

      @@Ian-gw2vx You can filter through, so I can see prices from lowest to highest etc and newest work. It's just if a customer doesn't add any filters then they will see the top artists (for the most part) that Saatchiart recognises as selling well or popular. It's like that with the majority of sites. It took me 2 years to sell my first piece on Artfinder and it ended up getting returned lol and then took me another year after that to sell another piece, then I had a few years of steady selling. It takes time, a long time! So don't be disheartened if you don't see any immediate success and don't underestimate social media! If used correctly it can be very powerful with helping sell your artwork.

    1. Do they send a courier to pick your work? And do you pay the shipping fee if so how much is the shipping fee.
    2. How long does it take to get paid back
    3. Are there any monthly fees like etsy ?

    • @AnthonyCrammen
      @AnthonyCrammen  5 лет назад +7

      I'm glad you found my video helpful! Yeah my experience has been fine with saatchi, is it amazing? Not at all but it's ok.
      They send a courrier to collect your artwork and no you don't pay anything they instead charge the customer the delivery fee and add it onto the artwork so you dont have to do anything apart from package your artwork.
      I think it takes around 14 days after the customer has recieved the artwork to be able to request a payout.
      And nope there are no monthly fees just the comission that they take off the artwork once sold. Hope this helps! Feel free to let me know if you need to know anything else!

      Hi Jacqeline, I'm not entirely sure what drop shipping is. But you do need to have your artwork, package the artwork, print labels and attach to package and then a courier arrives to collect your package which can be organised to whichever address is easiest for you. I'm not sure whether there are any other delivery options avilable as I have only used this method but might be worth having a look on the site to see, or if not send SaatchiArt and email/tweet and they should be able to clarify. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help!

    I sell on Saatchi, well, sell isn't the word as I haven't made a bean but plenty of likes and follows. Looks like its another social media to showcase your work. However, I do wonder how some are selling prints/paintings/ etc for 20k for instance. I suppose you have to have a name or know a lot of rich friends who want to buy your work. Saatch's website is also incredibly slow and cumbersome which seems to favour certain artists work as being showcased or coming up first in the searches. Its certainly not democratic.

    I'm at a local gallery and I haven't been very successful. I live in a very small town and I am the youngest member currently at this gallery, everyone else has a good 30 years on me. The gallery is full of traditional landscapes, still lifes, and portrait artists; while my style is more modern, impressionistic, and abstract. My art sticks out like a sore thumb and the age gap makes communication and possible learning opportunities with these older artists very difficult because they tend to look down on me. It's all very frustrating, and I constantly feel like I have to prove myself and play kiss ass to get anywhere. So I want to turn more to an online platform to sell my art, but I'm not sure where to start or what website to join. Your suggestions, experiences, and incite is a great help with determining what websites I should try out, thank you.

      Glad I could help Ashland! It's quite difficult when you have a different point of view from other people but take it as a positive thing. A buyer/collector are more likely to be drawn to work they've never seen before rather than the millions of paintings/sculptures with similar themes that have been done to death and have no clear viewpoint. Speading your work online will definitely help with exposure! Good luck!!! 🙂🙂🙂

    • @AnthonyCrammen

      Hmmm it might be a challenge. I would personally recommend saatchiart as they handle couriers etc which would make your life easier. It also depends on the kind of work you make, maybe look into etsy too?

    • @AnthonyCrammen
      @AnthonyCrammen  4 года назад +1

      You should be able to connect directly with artists on Artfinder with their messaging system (I'm no longer on there so it might have changed). I think you can on Etsy too. You can't on Saatchiart. Hope this helps!

      @Fred Smith Hi Fred. You questioned connecting directly with an artist...are you seeking an artist to buy from? Please check out my art website. It is: www.glamchicartgallery.com
      You will find landscape, abstract art and more for sale. At the top menu, click on "SHOP ART".
      I am extremely professional, provide exceptional customer service and artwork that's "unmatched". Offering half off of my paintings and free shipping. Blessings to you! Let me know if I can be of additional help! Denise of Glam Chic Art Gallery.

    Saatchi is absolutely dead. I have been on for almost 2 years selling fine art photography and nothing. Not a sausage. Only the chosen few get exposure in the searches it's just no point trying anymore if you are a relative unknown. Plenty of likes and followers, but useless if you want to sell.

    I been doing art and had many times to sell. Just get nervous......... I have many who’s know my characters and styles. It’s been so long now. So, I’m scared to do so? Since this is a newer generation. I’m need a bad spot sort of, of money. With a family. It’s hard. I have Deviant Art which I barely get on. And red bubble I think it’s called? Not into Facebook, Snapchat or this instagram stuff? I’m old school. But, maybe and sadly that is my ticket to getting customers again and attention of my work? I do digital and traditional art. I can do any. Just need more tips and inspiration again. I am Niqua10023. Plz help.

      No problem Elena, just to let you know I will be creating a follow up video to this as some things have changed since I recorded it. If i'm honest it's something i'm not great with either lol, I would say don't sell yourself too low and just be yourself really, I feel customers enjoy a more personal experience when they purchase from an artist, but you'll get use to gauging how to deal with different kinds of customers, some just want to buy and be on their way lol.

    • @AnthonyCrammen
      @AnthonyCrammen  5 лет назад

      Not too sure on that one, suppose it depends on your budget and what kind of artwork you like. I'm an artist myself and not a collector so I would always recommend purchasing directly from the artist if you can (their own website etc) because for the most part you'll get a better deal (no middleman/comissions) and 100% of the money is going to the artist who made the work. What kind of artwork do you like? I might be able to steer you in the right direction.

    though you're heartwarmingly gentle, you are selling out by giving that 30% fee thats HUGE FEE!!! This is absolutely unfeasible for a developing business owner. Completely insensitive things like this, you should NOT sell out to as an artist.

    Hello Anthony, I have some questions regarding applying to ArtFinder, I will be extremely happy if you can help me.
    1.For the application process to ArtFinder I must give some examples of my online presence, but I the same time they wrote this: "Please note the websites of other online marketplaces are not acceptable". But in the section named "What does a good application look like" they wrote this: "please give us some details and provide links to your other online shops".
    Is so confusing.
    Question: is it or is not ok to write down like an example my Etsy address page?
    2.The Etsy shop belongs to both of us, mine and my wife's, and also contains my and my wife's paintings.
    Will be a problem If a give this etsy web address that doesn't have my name, and only my art??
    I know Artfinder can reject an application after 8 weeks of waiting, and don't give any explanation why. So I don't want to risk such a long time.
    I hope this will help many.
    Thank you again!
