    Thanks for the very helpful video. In the video you mentioned that the best approach to starting to gain audience in social media is through educational content rather than showing your art (as a beginner artist). My concern with this approach is - will I bring the right audience to my page with educational videos? Seems like such content will be interesting to beginner artists, rather than those who intend to buy paintings. How would that benefit me if I plan to sell my artwork? I'd be grateful if you could share your experience

    I'm 51 worked as a truckie slash chippy for the last 30 yrs and realised at 40 that one day will never come! I had to start doing my art and a funny thing happened my art grew with me to a certain point. I mean all the work I put in as a teen to my early 20's paid off and I didn't have to start all over again. Having said that my regret is wondering how good I would be now if I didn't shelve my art for so long. I loved art but couldn't see it paying me. Please don't be like me, follow that desire if it's what you think about the most.

      @@driesketels In Australia we had a TV celebrity form an outback town in Broken Hill. His name was Jack Absalom. He used to run tours in the outback and a few times he took artists around on painting tours. One day it got the better of him and he asked one of the artists if he could have a go. He became a world renowned landscape artist. He was 44 when he started.

    Selling your art online in my opinion is not selling out. What a greater honor than to have other people enjoy your work as well. Beside if a ton of people buy prints I feel like it makes your original more valuable as it's clear validation that other people experience an emotional or some kind of connection to it. Great video as always thank you for sharing your knowledge with us all. The sign of a true craftsman, artist and, and good person.

      No, selling art online absolutely is not selling out. However, copying art and aesthetics just because they are popular is in my opinion. I couldn't continue the video because it's good advice for a business man but horrible advice for an artist. Why even make art in the first place then.

    I have just discovered your channel and am absorbing everything you share. Thank you so much for helping me learn and build confidence by watching your videos. You truly truly are helping the scared nobodies like myself who believe art is meant to help people cope, survive, and thrive in this life. I know that painting has saved me (literally from depression while battling breast cancer and recovering from being in a coma recently for several weeks fighting Covid-19). I am hoping to gain my confidence back soon and start posting videos again. (My most recent works are not like the pieces that I created early in my journey. )I want to help people connect with art in a way that helps them find peace and contentment within themselves the way that art has helped me. I pray that I can grow in the art world so that I am able to put more good back into the world and help people get through their darkest times. We all need help and Art has helped me more than I can ever begin to say…. I will make the world a better place for my children and for future generations. I promise this.
    Silly question…. One of your earlier videos you discussed create value… I donated two recent pieces to a charity auction and they were the highest bidding items!!! Would you consider this a way to “give value” to your name and brand? (The reason I ask is because a few people approached me afterward about commissioning pieces for their homes.)

    • @driesketels
      @driesketels  Год назад +1

      That's a powerful story Sandra. I hope you build further on that purpose.
      To answer your question: yes this can most certainly be a form of giving value, like in your case it clearly was. Although I would be careful with these types of approaches, you don't want to be giving away everything and have nothing left.

    *Do you think this thumbnail is clickbait?*
    The total amount of sales made on this particular online gallery at the time of recording was $11.428,11. I show the sales screen of the online gallery in the intro of the video but I don't mention this number $11.428,11 specifically in the video. *Did you perceive this as clickbait or dishonest, how did you perceive the thumbnail?*
    I do think that *trust* is the most important part of my relationship with you and don't want to erode that trust. *Nothing about the thumbnail is a lie* but I'm afraid that some people might perceive it as too clickbait. *What are your opinions about this?* Perhaps I should only use a thumbnail like that if I mention the numbers specifically in the video itself??
    Ps: Click through rate is extremely important on RUclips and it's believed to be *50% of a video's success* . Having a thumbnail that doesn't generate curiosity is simply not an option because that would result in 200 views.
