      No one believed what they were saying went on/ happened, previous to cell phones, body cams, and video surveillance cameras all over the place. Even in cases of video evidence, many white cops have gotten away with brutality and outright murder. In my city many many people of color were just grabbed of the street, and tortured into confessions. Doing decades of time, not guilty of the crime charges. Racism IS a systemic problem across the country in the U.S.

    This poor young man’s family. This makes me terribly sad. I see Tyre was a skateboarder 🛹❤️ my hometown is Rockford Illinois, many of you from Memphis heard of us for being on certain unfavorable lists along with Memphis. Skateboarding saved my life and kept me out of gangs and trouble in general. Usually skateboarders are stand up good people. I’m gonna go ahead and bet Tyre was a good kid. Hopefully this is an eye opener to the general public that this could happen to your kid regardless of ethnicity.

    • @brianwade879
      @brianwade879 Год назад +2

      Nothing opens eyes anymore. My experience with skateboarders at early ages - that's been true. From what the family says, that was true of their son. Running from the police is kinda built in to the fight or flight fear, thought process. Guys in our neighborhood would run to get away from a curfew violation. If you were white, they usually just caught and arrested you. If you didn't run, usually get a warning. But this cat Gustavo, if he didn't run, he's getting arrested, and maybe worse. When he did run, he got treated pretty bad.
      In my old neighborhood, say - 2010, 2015, I could walk down the street alone, and rarely given a look. If my black friend walked down the same street, he's looked at, and most often stopped, and frisked. Together walking down the street, we're looked at, but that's it. A city of 3 million people. Back in the 60's , the neighborhood was predominantly Irish Catholic. By the 70's, a few Latinos. In 2022,23, mix of every nationality. Still, certain people stopped, same others, likely not. Less you're walking with an open beer.

      @Fransico Buttersworth I do a lot of travel outside the US and I have interviewed quite a few police officers abroad. In most wealthy nations with functioning democracies, the average training requirements for police officers is a four year degree in law enforcement and six months to a year of police academy. Some countries like South Korea require officers to pass an abbreviated bar exam.
      Tennessee, in sharp contrast requires a high school diploma and 12 weeks of classroom instruction in the police academy. No further training is required. For some context, it takes well over three times that amount of paid instruction to legally cut hair for money in the state of Tennessee.
      American policing is fundamentally broken.

God bless her for having the strength of character to ask people to protest peacefully. Burning, looting and rioting will not bring her precious son back. I am reminded of the words of the late Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?" The kind of violence this terrible act would bring doesn't help anyone. What will illicit real change is fixing the problems with our police departments and that begins with better methods of vetting people who wish to join the police force to begin with. Being an officer requires patience, self-discipline and respect for people. In the past two decades that has become increasingly difficult. The officers that responded here forgot what "To Serve and Protect" means. My prayers are with his family and friends. May they find peace and comfort in knowing how many people stand with them.

      We need to see ALL of the body cam videos and all of the street camera video. Not just snippets that Tyre's lawyers will want to show us. Everything that led up to the attack needs to be shown to the public and then the totality of evidence needs to be taken into consideration during the trials. Too many times we are shown only pieces of the videos in other cases, and the public goes crazy and wants to send the cop to jail. But in MOST of those cases, there is real, raw video footage that was never shown to the public until it was too late. And that raw footage shines a new light on what happened. For example, there was a case recently where a cop shot and killed a guy and we only saw the shooting, but when the raw footage was release, we saw that the suspect shot at the cop first, so the cop was defending himself and he was exhonerated. But the media had already planted the seed of hatred against the cop by showing only the short video snippet of the cop shooting the guy. So, let's see all of the evidence before we pass judgment on those cops.

They could block and manipulate their bodycam videos. They didn’t have access to the light pole video. They had no control over its release. If it was a simple traffic stop there wouldn't have been five officers at the scene . Obviously things became escalated due to the behavior of the suspect .

      You so sure about that aye? Tell any one of your hero's wearing a badge to speak up loud and clear and to tell you and us all the Acts performed in the power countries when treasons been exposed in them, which American president was permitted to perform them all and by all means the truth about Hillary Clinton, Marilou Danley and Stephen Paddock. Tell the traitor to speak up loud and proud enough so his buddies, your hero's Mohammed Ali, Epstein, Al Baghedouchebaggie, Mark Middleton and the many more and more coming can hear their treasonous mouth!

    No one intended for him to die it was a surprise to the officers. What is this guy on? 5 guys beating on one body, and no one expected serious injury? Let’s wait for the autopsy so we can find a loop that he had a weak heart. Then it wasn’t the beating he was just weak.
