Ahead makes some of the best products on the market. Sticks, pads, thrones, etc. They get criminally slept on

Did I buy the wrong pad? I’m looking for that High pitch sound

  • @DennisJohnsonDrummer
    @DennisJohnsonDrummer 3 года назад +8

Sounds a little lower in pitch than what I would like. For my money, the Offworld
product with great customer service gets the nod every time. I have a Xymox,
an older Invader, two Ram Pads (marching and Pro versions-great pads!),
Slim Pad, Stock Pad, 2-sided VF pad, Vater 2-sided (red/black), Offworld Shuttle
Pad, Offworld Outlander with VML smaller version- LOVE this pad!), an older
Innovative Percussion red rubber pad (great rebound), an older Real Feel,
a small Reel Feel, a really old Zildjian pad and a.....oh wait- I just sold this
pad on Ebay- a beetle Percussion Carlos Botello Marching Pad- totally
underwhelmed by this pad when I opened the box and played on it only
4 times! Anyway, our local music store had the Ahead Pad as a demo one
day and then when I went back to play on it- it was GONE! Gonna purchase
the new Offworld V3 Hybrid when the Beetle makes it's way out west to
the new owner. Oh, wait---I had a Byosphere but it was totally too loud to
me so I sold it to a student with less sensitive ears!

What makes it not as reliable as an Invader?

Hi SnareMan, I just saw your comment, I'll have Alejandro respond to your question when I see him later today.

Hey, nice review❤. How about a comparison between an Invader with VML, Ahead Pad and Xymox. There is still no comparison video between those 3 pads in RUclips. Maybe you should create one(first time in history)

How do you take out the beads?

How do you review a practice pad without playing on it? Weird.

Great vid, thanks for the detailed review. One suggestion though is to lose the background music. It’s pretty distracting for me personally, especially as I’m trying to hear how the pad sounds.

I got this pad last Christmas, it’s a really nice pad, too bad this video wasn’t out then. It has a few dents and tears near the center, and you mentioned that you can replace laminent, can you post a link for it please? Thanks

Does anyone know if they just sell the snare part by itself?

Haha yea I wish I ordered a hybrid snare from xymox about a week before Christmas but still haven’t got it, since then I got a pearl carbon core which I much prefer over the hybrid snare but I would love to have it anyway for how much I paid. Great review tho keep up the pad reviews

Ahead makes good stuff. I don't care for their sticks, but their pedals and thrones are nice.

@@steezyboiiii808 Mainly the sound/feel for cross stick and rim shots. They're cool sticks, but I just like wood.

Normalize match grip. There really is no point with the new style drums made today
I edited my original post because I triggered someone 🤣

It looks very armature to have a snare player playing match grip in drumline. I can only assume you don’t know what you’re talking about considering you called it “non traditional stick holding” so I won’t argue with you. Yeah it’s pointless but it looks better and allows for stick tricks that couldn’t be done with match .

I know I'm a bit late but traditional grip is still an essential part of some marching bands, military style bands in particular. I understand why you'd wanna switch to matched grip since everyone uses it.
