STEVEN! The branding. The pacing. The portraits. This is awesome! So cool to see all of you guys at Creative Club diving into RUclips head first. Keep it up. So excited to see what y’all make next🥳😂
I just thought to look up if anybody tried this method on a medium format camera, to see if you could get the look close to those ethereal photos from the days of "big box on a tripod" photography from ages ago. Lo and behold - yes! but the feeling is not the same. The focus fall-off in the old photos is just so surreal, you get a good chunk in focus (i.e. a woman sat on a chair, in the garden in focus but everything in front of her and behind her just melts away into mily ethereal blur. Magical)
Bro when I saw the title to this I was like “what?. I didn’t even know you could do that “. Freaking awesome video uncle Steven. And bro I almost died laughing when u said Mama Mia😂😂😂. And the audio cutting out😳😳😳😂😂😂. Love u dude! Thanks for the killer info
Well, what do you know. I've done this a few times with landscape images in order to get a higher quality and wider image without making it a panorama. Didn't know there was a name for it! Great video, and now you have a new subscriber!
Alright, you’ve sold me. It’s easy enough on my Fujifilm X-T2, but never thought about trying it on the RB67 mostly because I was trying to imitate medium format aesthetics on the digital sensor. BUT these are fantastic man. Im going to give it a try. Thank you for sharing this!
Oh man, I'm so happy to hear that!! I hope you have fun experimenting with it Ryan, it's such a cool technique to try on film. Thanks for the kind words, and for watching! :)
Hey, this is a creative take using medium format film. I have heard and seen the method using a digital 35mm camera but not film and medium format at that. Wonderful video and cheers to and fellow Chicagoan. Good luck with the channel and your business.
wow I never knew this before. It's a very good and fun video. I wonder if it's the same Is the photo taken and put together like hdr photography with multiple exposure bracketing?
Hi Yohei! I use a Canon R5 with the Canon EF Macro 100mm L, rigged up with Negative Supply DSLR scanning equipment (a stand, light bed, and film holder). I’m making a video explaining the whole setup soon!
Hey Up Steven! Brilliant fun idea. I wanna try this technique to learn but with a 36mp FX to look like medium FujiFilm digital for some macro work. It will be challenging as it's gonna involve focus stacking as well
Thanks for asking! I’m going to make a video on how I specifically did, but you’re spot on, I basically resized the actual borders of my film to fit that wide shot of Eric!
Great question! I agree with you, the effect definitely isn't as noticeable in studio. I only did it because I love studio portraits, and I still got the extra resolution that comes with stitching panoramas. Thanks for watching! :)
Finding the nodal point (No parallax point) is VERY IMPORTANT when using this method. Parallax is your enemy. If your background is abstract, even if you drift a bit it will stich. But if you're in a forest with lots of trees, it will not. Of course you subject needs to stand still...
I dont know about this, I could basically see each individual image with stitching marks between them, seems like there is still a lot of progress to make with this technique for medium format to digital.
Seems like too much effort for me. Using a 6x9 camera will give you some similar result and no digital process needed. On the other hand, Branizers with a 6x9 can be interesting.
@@Braxtonwallis this was on film, however with all the post process involved I wonder why bother with the film anyway. Unless you are using 4x5 or 8x10. :-))
@@keithfox2995 because 1) large format is not very accessible and 2) if we’re gonna keep film alive we have to get creative and try new things like Steven did here. If not then film will die fairly quickly
STEVEN SCHULTZ HAS ARRIVED EVERYONE

Love this brother. Never even thought about trying this on film haha
Haha right?! It turned out so crazy. Appreciate you brother, thanks for watching!!!
Dude this video hits hard. Stoked to be a part of it. And always down to create more pano stitched monsters 😂
Hahaha my MAN! Wouldn’t be possible without you. Let’s make more monsters this year 😂😂
This is awesome! Thank you for teaching me about this method, I had done this once upon a time a long while ago, but couldn’t remember how. Thank you!
So happy to hear that, Kaden! It’s such a fun technique, hope you enjoy using it again!! 😊
This is super neat! I haven't messed with film panoramas yet but this gives me some interesting ideas

As a Brenizer fanboy and new to medium format, I fucking love these Steven! Keep it up!
Bahahaha Adam I love you man! Thanks so much for the endless support. Appreciate you!! 😊
Love this! I’m definitely trying this with my full frame camera.
Thanks Luke!! Love to hear it, I think you'll really enjoy it. Appreciate you dude!!!
This is awesome. Going to give this a shot one day. Costly for sure given how expensive film is but this would allow an even bigger print size
Thank you so much!! So glad you liked it. It’s definitely pricey, but worth trying a few times. The results can be incredible!
Wow 😯 ❤️

So dope! Thanks for sharing! Would be really cool to see large prints from these pictures!
Thanks for watching, Elazar! Definitely, I hope to print some of these soon!!
Love it! I've tried this out in the past for fun. Never on film, but these turned out awesome. It's like super medium format haha
Hahaha wait super medium format is such a good name 😂😂 thanks for watching Clay!!

Hello,What scanner do you use when you scan the film?
Hi Yohei! I use a Canon R5 with the Canon EF Macro 100mm L, rigged up with Negative Supply DSLR scanning equipment (a stand, light bed, and film holder). I’m making a video explaining the whole setup soon!
@@StevenSchultz thank you!!

These turned out amazing. Did you happen to take normal portraits for comparison?
Hey Prince! Yes I did! I have the first “middle” image of each Brenizer portrait as a reference point. Maybe I’ll include that in a follow up video! 😊
@@StevenSchultz Please do, I think it only makes sense if we can see "compared to what"
awesome.
Thank you! 🤘🏻
Great video! My question is how did you keep the borders on the wide portrait of Eric? you add them in post right ?
Thanks for asking! I’m going to make a video on how I specifically did, but you’re spot on, I basically resized the actual borders of my film to fit that wide shot of Eric!
@@StevenSchultz I see, can’t wait for your other videos!
This is a very interesting video. But does taking the image in front of a studio backdrop not defeat the purpose?
Great question! I agree with you, the effect definitely isn't as noticeable in studio. I only did it because I love studio portraits, and I still got the extra resolution that comes with stitching panoramas. Thanks for watching! :)
Lol on the part where you were talking sans audio. Subscribed
Haha, glad you liked that!! Thanks for watching! 😊
Nice
Thanks!!
Wonder what this experiment could look like if you used a 6x7 Pentax with a 110/2.0 projection lens to maximize the shallow depth of field even more!
That sounds like an awesome idea! One of my studio mates has the 6x7-I might have to find the 110 and try this out. The depth of field would be nuts!!
Finding the nodal point (No parallax point) is VERY IMPORTANT when using this method. Parallax is your enemy. If your background is abstract, even if you drift a bit it will stich. But if you're in a forest with lots of trees, it will not. Of course you subject needs to stand still...

Hahaha thank you!! I loved that line 😂
Am I the only one that watched the end and said “wait what?! Did I skip a step?” Had to rewatch this a few times to get the concept lol
If RUclips compression is so much, put up a full res sample somewhere 🤷
Gonna comment for the algo
Let's goooo! Thanks so much!!!

DEAL MY GUY 🤝
At this point, why wouldn't you just shoot large format?
I don't see anything
Get yourself a fast lens and save the pain
Or you could shoot 8"x10" 🤷♂
Seems like too much effort for me. Using a 6x9 camera will give you some similar result and no digital process needed. On the other hand, Branizers with a 6x9 can be interesting.
Or just buy a 8x10 or 4x5 and make a proper enlarged print…
Lets go! Pretentious film photographers for the win!!!!!!
