Even as a Mazda fanboy, I find it so strange they chose high profile 20s for the wheels. Granted, the Meridian edition coming out later this year will come with smaller 18s among other rugged upgrades, but it's an odd choice even for the base vehicle.

Love that it is on the 3/Cx-30 platform. Idk why they didn't decide to do the new CX-5 with the same under pinnings. I have a 3 Hatchback Premium Plus and this makes me want to upgrade. I really ike the direction where Mazda is going
We have a CX5 premiere and the same problem: the chrome trim reflects blindingly bright sunlight right into my eyes. We have to cover it with cloth every time we drive on the freeway. This happens to not only the front seat occupants but can strike our back seat passengers at times. We love the turbo charge but it is ridiculous that they have an engine sound amplifier in our Bose stereo system to boost engine noise. The CX5 has excellent external noise dampening but our Mazda 3 sounded slightly quieter. By the way, the chrome reflects in our M3 also which really doesn’t help when you have a headache! We absolutely love the overhead display! Though I wish it had a curb sensitivity when getting close to a curb when turning. Our M3 is so low to the ground and we have seen far too many folks with side body damage from curb impacts. This feature should be standard on all Mazda sedans with an immediate display to warn you of imminent impact. Frankly we believe it should be a standard feature on all vehicles but in particular for parking lots for pedestrians. Also it would be nice to have clips in the trunk to hold onto grocery bags or to clip cords for securing items from sliding around. Just a couple of many things we have experienced since owning our Mazda‘s. We love our Mazdas!
Mazda is sure adapting what works to make it even more appealing. In my case driving the CX5 feels just so good and my only wish is for them to offer a PHEV with at least 50km of eve range and take all my monies.
Am noticing on inventory search on KBB that every non-turbo CX-50 being shipped now is at around $38,000 MSRP. The Turbo cars are $5,000 to $10,000 higher. This gives you the Premium Plus trim, which is fully loaded. The average CX-5 or Subaru Forester is much less expensive. So it looks like they are definitely going after the Outback with Limited or Touring trim in this market of tight supply.
Yes. But then again I don’t like Subarus. Had a 2010 Impreza Outback Sport and it had no balls. Merging on the highway was terrifying. Got rid of it as soon as I could. I’ve driven my SIL’s newer Outback and it seems to have improved and doesn’t drive as big as it is. That said will still never buy a Subaru

Thinking about replacing my '18 Crosstrek with the Meridian edition. Time will tell, need something a little bigger with more power but ready for some mtn snow.
I test drove the CX-50 and my first pass thoughts were that I liked the car. But here’s some things that I wish they offered. A V6 Gas engine, or offer the 4 Cylinder Turbo engine as a one price add on option for some of the lower trim levels. The regular engine is lagging and a little loud when accelerating, and the Turbo trim gets pricey. Since Mazda’s interiors are mainly dark and I wish they offered the lighter upper interiors to lighten up the inside of the car. And if you like to rest your arm on the window ledge, you can’t because it’s a bit too high.
The base model, S Select, Preffered, and Preferred Plus have 17" wheels. You would have to buy A/T wheels for it. The only model that has 18" wheels with the A/T tires on it is the Turbo Meridian.
I prefer Mazda’s infotainment system with its command knob. It is very easy to use while driving. In my opinion touchscreens have no place in a car. They are dangerous and I don’t understand when folks complain about not having a touch screen. Awesome car though. I have been holding out on Mazda coming out with something like this over the other brands because I don’t want a cvt that is bound to die early.
I loved the CX-5, but it had smaller trunk space, and limited knee space. I always felt cramped in the drivers seat. Hopefully the CX-50 fixes the later.

Nice looking. But this car is too wide for North NJ city and town roads and the gas mileage is meh. I wish the CX30 looked like this. Until then I prefer the Impreza RS hatch.
Kudos to Mazda for staying away from CVT’s. But Mazda needs to have longer warranties if it wants to be a premium brand. Also, the infotainment dial needs to go, and requiring premium gas would be a deal breaker.
Two things that are a deal breaker for you are the epitome of a premium brand. Dial gives options besides the touchscreen and premium fuel is always better, even for engines which don’t need it. Mazda isn’t a premium brand. Using thin (compared to other brands) barely padded leather and barely working safety systems or terrible headlights just to say they have LEDs is all marketing. These are delusions of being a premium brand.
