What is that thing you do in the middle that looks kind of like tremolo picking. Does it have a technical name? I want to eventually learn how to do it
Stick with it. You’ll get it. Start slow and slowly decrease the amount of pressure you’re applying to the fretboard. Don’t increase speed until it’s clean and close to perfect. A metronome will help immensely also.
I would have loved to hear that again, but with the amp mic'd. I had a recording of Eugene's Trick Bag that I flawlessly played, but I heard more from the strings than the amp and it kind of took some of the magic away. But that being said, your sweeping is very smooth.
Thanks! It isn’t a song or anything. It’s just a couple fairly common shred licks: diminished arpeggios and a Phrygian Dominant mode. The pattern for everything is 6 notes per beat. I created a lesson for this if you’d like to learn it: ruclips.net/video/gbDU_DTHFlQ/видео.html
@@TheOccultationProject The reason I ask is that I seem to have the same pick-up setup and I can't find anything about them. I’m sure everyone approaches it a little differently. There’s not really a right or wrong way to play guitar, but there are things that can help with clarity, fluidity, etc. Generally, for any electric guitar technique, it’s good to apply as little pressure as possible with the fretting hand. I also don’t try to pick too hard. It may sound like I do, but I think it’s just a product of both hands being in sync. I also use very thick and rigid picks. For sweeps, each hand has a specific function in my mind. The right is used to produce a fluid motion across the strings. The left is used to mute unused strings to dampen noise. You can mute strings using both hands or just one.
He’s so correct! I would add to concentrate on relaxing both hands while playing...well, anything, really...but it’s very important when sweep picking.
