Dude!!! two days of not 8-hour training, just when I have a minute to do this exercises or just the idea of it helped me a lot. And it is only two days. I started to recover my lost speed and tightness on fast bursts. Thank you for this one!)
Man you have got me hooked, haven’t really had time to do anything with the lessons yet, but I checked out the 2 courses that you offer for sale and I plan on purchasing both of them soon. I am moving and kinda in transition at the moment is the only reason why I haven’t already. I have watched every guitar instruction channel there is I believe and none of them hold a candle to you. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST GUITAR INSTRUCTOR I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! I truly believe in your product and would sell it for you if I could. THANK YOU !! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
I really could relate to FRETBOARD LOGIC 2 and SPEED MECHANICS FOR GUITAR BY TROY STETINA , but you have figured it out. I am 50 years old on August 13th, and I wish You could have been around 20 years ago to teach me. Without even having a guitar in my hands, I.Watch and absorb every video I can. Thanks a million man, I plan on paying for your services as soon as I can because I feel ITS WORTH EVERY CENT AND THEN SOME!!!!!
Although I mainly play acoustic guitar I always watch you tutorials. because it helps me better my technique, love this lesson and will be adding it to my practice routine, thanks Bernth 💃🎶💃🎶
Brilliant video Bernth! Thanks so much. I find I really have to focus on keeping my right wrist loose for improved alternate picking speed and efficiency, and this is the solution! I hope for the best for your channel. 🎸🤘
Most are not subscribed or watching, once they find out they have to work and practice for it, they wont do it.. they cant just push a computer button and rap.. This is not instant easy stuff.. so they wont do it.
@@michaelcraig9449 All what Bernth does is much too difficult for me but I suscribed and watch anyway cause I love watching him play like a god (and when he uses this guitar it makes me happy). Must add that I'm old....60....
High quality editing, good production, helpful lessons, skilled teacher!! Glad I followed you on Instagram and found your beautiful and helpful channel thank you!!
Been following along for a few weeks now and I gotta say you are doing a great job of analyzing your own technique. Very insightful. But one subject that I think you've not touched upon in any of your videos is right hand wrist movement/stretching. At least I think so. I wonder if you could do a video on the topic? More specifically it would be of great value if you could tell us how you tackle strings shifts across 2-3 adjacent strings? Do you like move your whole arm at every string shift or do you anchor your arm and change the angle of your wrist to reach the next string and then move your arm if you have to make yet another string shift? I kinda move my arm at each string shift to keep my pick angle the same at each string but recently I've been doing a lot of two string exercises. Those exercises makes me move my arm back and forth endlessly and when thinking about it actually feels a bit weird. Hope it make sense.
Thanks Bernth for the video!! Do you use the same angle of the wrist of the right hand during alternate picking on fast phrase/scale? Is your wrist up on the strings (bent over air) or close to the strings? Thanks again...maybe you could do a video about wrist angle (of the rght hand) for alternate picking, sweep, legato, etc
Please make a video on holding the pick. There are many ways and as a beginner, I'm not sure which one is efficient. And I think, many peoples have similar problem.
Bernth I would like to ask you if there's a way to fix a problem that after some years I still encounter.. the problem it's combinig single staccato chords downstrokes to a following grop of 16ths palm muted notes ..this could be a simple A chord played on 3 to four strings, and a sudden simple sequence of muted 16ths of the "same" A note at 5th fret on the A string.. it's like I do different movements when playing the simple downstrokes or the 16th notes, so I can do them well separately, but when I have to do them in a quick sequence the pick tends to remain STUCK on the first note of the 16ths burst.. it's like my right hand tries to change position between the single staccato downstrokes and the 16ths burst but "fails" to do it enough quickly.. I still cannot improve this.. :( Thanks!
a question to Bernth and the community regarding my biggest problem: when you pick upward is 100% wrist rotation or the hand is losen a liitle bit...if I want to use 100% wrist my speed will decrease a lot, thought the sound is sharper...thank you!
This guy seems like a great instructor. And so young still. I need you to move to the US. Ya can live in TX and then i can take lessons lol. It is so hard to find a GOOD guitar instructor where ya can take lessions IN PERSON. But seriously, you really do a great job of driving your points home. Thank you for posting these lessons :)
I've been playing for now 4 years, and I think I've achieved a decent speed level, I do feel how I use my wrist, but hell, when I play Blood of the scribe by Lamb of God (only down picking w/gallop), my right shoulder burns as hell. I've tried to use like only wrist movement for this kind of riffs and with alternate 3 note per string patterns, but I still feel the muscles on my shoulder work... Am I on 'the right' path?? Any advice much appreciated
I'm a little confused... On one time in the video you said, that you use slightly your right hands wrist to mute the dead notes with your left hand. then you said you only use your left hand to mute and change the angle of your right hand wrist? what is now the right/ best way to get the most use of this exercise?
How much would anyone recommend buying his 10 week online course for a complete beginner? (Had my guitar a week) Not sure if the course is more for the experienced individual. Thanks
I will probably never want to shred. It’s just not part of my sound, but people who shred are hella in tune with their right hand and picking. I have 0 picking skills so I’m going to try these out,
You normally play fast with ur wrist on the bridge? When I am shredding scales and single string patters my wrist is lifted off like when you these chords. I find it difficult to palm mute when playing fast.
hey bernth, i probably just suck but i kinda get stuck in my strings with my pick on these exercises, im using a winspear shiv 4mm, it might be not flexible enough? i was wondering what you use :)
So I've got an issue that seriously slows down my alternate picking. When I play, I tend to tense up my shoulder and bicep which slows me down a helluva lot. It's even worse when I play standing up. I almost shift my shoulder outward while my shoulder and bicep are still tensed up. I'm not really sure how to "unlearn" this behavior. It's really starting to piss me off cause I can't play anything fast because of this.
SAME!! Are you suffering any shoulder pain because of this? Ifound it on myself years ago and wondered if there is someone like me.. Constant tensing of wrong muscles cause the asymmetric resting scapular posture.
@@alaminor5576 Thankfully no. I have not be suffering from shoulder pain. It has just been constant trial and error in my attempts to fix my posture. I asked this same question in another group and was met with a piece of advice that seems to be working but it is too early for me to tell yet. I was told to sit/stand with my back straight against a wall, notice how my posture is, and focus on relaxing the arm and shoulder muscles. Then, with my back still up against the wall, play something familiar while focusing on keeping those muscles relaxed. At first, your body still tries to put itself back into the position it has learned to be in but the more you focus on correcting the posture, the easier things get. I've been doing this whenever I practice my alternate picking and I started somewhere I felt comfortable. For me, that was around 115 bpm. I usually play that bpm for a week and then move up by 5. I haven't been doing it as consistently as I would like to but this method seems to be the most likely way for me to see progress.
As always you can find the tabs, guitar pro files and practice backing tracks for all these exercises on patreon.com/bernth - happy practicing! :)
Is the 10-week online guitar courses '10 Steps to Modern Shredding' good for someone who has 0 talent in shredding? haha

Fun fact: the right hand movement has actually a bit of forearm motion, not only wrist.
