The interactions between Varys and Tyrion were legendary. This friendship born from a pure instinct for each to survive is what eventually broke Tyrion. When Varys died, so did Tyrions soul and his faith in Danaerys.

@@fpk2448Actually, technically it is the other way around if we're going to argue about it. As the sun rises, it "begins" by casting big shadows which become smaller as the sun gets higher. As the sun sets, it begins by casting small shadows that get bigger. It depends on how the word begin is used - whether starting with something, or starting to change to something else. Begin by or begin to. I think I've just argued that you were right in that case :-D

@@indianyug There are some editing tricks you can do to fit a video in a short. Trim the pauses between the dialogues. For instance, "Power is a very curious thing, my Lord. **pause** Are you fond of riddles?"
One of my absolute favorite scenes in the show. Mainly because it speaks truth about the world we live in now

They were for awhile, but that fizzled out very quickly. I lost all respect for Tyrion for the way he booted his lady and then whined about it ever after.

As a 4'11 "girl next door", nothing made me feel more empowered than "a very small man can cast a very large shadow". I need a Varys in my life giving me pep talks like that 😂
Is it really that bad being short? When I lay in bed sometimes my feet go over the bottom. Too tall to lay down on most couches comfortably and I’m only 6’2. My grandma is 4’11 and she always hit me up to reach stuff in the shelves but I never saw anything wrong or bad with being short. You can fit most everywhere like a cat and be comfortable. Which I think is a huge bonus 😂
@@tj7094 Yes. Things aren't designed for you when you're short. Clothes don't fit, shelves are too high, sun visors are useless and seatbelts choke you, people assume you're a child or somehow immature, or that it's okay to invade your personal space (resting arms on you, picking you up, ruffling your hair, pushing you out of their way)... And then there's other things like medications not being the correct dose because they're designed for an average body size, or things like wrist guards and knee braces never being correct. Not to mention that as an actor, I really struggle for work because I'm too "developed" for teen roles, but a lot of people won't take me seriously as an adult either.
Yes, it's cute, and yay you can ask for help if there's someone nearby (which is really humiliating to have to do, btw), but on the whole, it makes life way more difficult.

@@tj7094 I'll share something as a tall person... Do you know how hard it is to clean when you're tall? I have 5 kids and it's a constant struggle to keep the house in order, and there's always stuff on the floor that needs picking up, and the entire time I wish I was shorter because picking up anything is a chore when you're tall.
@@tj7094 it can be. For a guy, being shorter than 5'7" means 50% of women are instantly uninterested in even giving you a first date. Shorter than 5'5" and that becomes 80%.
And as LillyGrace points out, things aren't designed right. Clothes don't always fit your proportions (e.g. you have to roll up the cuffs of your pants), things are too high or "just off", pedals are just a bit too far when driving, and so on.

Lord Varys the WISEST Most Versatile character in GOT

Questionable, there were a lot of wise characters in GOT, just some of them didn't have luck to survive, not to mention about forced plot casualities. Tywin Lannister- alwayse one step before his enemies, giga brain, yet had to die because of diahria and fuck wrong wh..e... That's just one example, there are plenty more.

Tyrion gave the correct answer, 'It depends on the sellsword.' If he was deeply religious he'd listen to the priest. If he wanted a noble title or some sort of royal favor he'd obey the king. If all he cared about was money it'd be the rich man. It just depends on that one sell sword cared about most. Varys was pretty much saying the same thing, just with a lot more words.

So they’re both right, technically. I think Varys just spells it out a bit more to drive the point home.
The answer is whoever has good story worth to be believing will live..the sellsword will even himself get killed by gold/by loyalty/by religion if he is not believe he himself had good story to hold..sword just a tool.

I remember when Cersie ordered her gards to sieze Little Finger, had a knife at his throat, then let him go. Then she told him "Power is power."
Whole show is about the power politics...different shades of it were shown at different times.
Question is: who has the power. Cersei? Or the guy with the dagger?
It‘s very philosophical. Who has the power? The judge sentence you to prison or the authorities with guns?
During a coup you can see who really holds power. It is not the president, who is the commander on paper, but the men with weapons who ultimately have power. They just usually subordinate themselves to law and order and serve a master.
@@Aelberethto me true power comes from Authority. In the case of a coup the ones with the guns have the "power" but no authority. What's the difference? They will soon find out the hard way how difficult it is to run a country when the other nations don't recognize their reign as legitimate. They will refuse to trade, do commerce, offer aid in a time of crises etc.

Power is not a "curious" thing at all. To gain power assume or pretend yourself responsible for the safety of others. Pretend you are responsible for saving people from whatever they are afraid of. Promise them that safety with conviction in your responsibility.
Do it often and people will naturally project power onto you.
You can only promise safety from the dangers people fear and actually deliver on it , if you control those dangers ...I.E create them
Power perceived is power achieved.
If they think you have it that's all you need. Until proven wrong that is. 😂

Going only by this short clip, Varys only gives half of the answer to the riddle. The answer is: it depends on whose men are standing on the other side of that room's door! In Ned's case, the King's men stood on the other side of that door and his wildcat of a mom stood behind them! It's also why Ned chose to lose his head alone. What Varys did teach his friend is that knowledge and how to use it is truly the greatest power in the long run. Know whose on the other side of that door and place them there yourself if possible!

Tyrion and Varys were treated very badly by the end of the series. They acted against their established characters. Both men were highly intelligent, wise, and cunning. They were treated shamefully. Tyrion would have made a great king, and Varys a great advisor.
When they ran out of good dialogue they simply burned the bald guy.

That’s one of the main things that separated this show from almost everything else. There is no conversation in the entire series that doesn’t entirely immerse you in the characters. Probably the best chemistry and dialogue I have ever seen in a show. It made you feel part of the show and bonded with the characters. The complete opposite of House of Dragons
A counter to varys argument would be

A simpler one is "the sellsword is only interested in gold, so the one who tosses him the heavier bag of gold gets their wish."
How do you know what a sellsword is interested in?

If the analogy was the be accurate varys should have given the task to the common man.. not a mercenary.
A common man has specific needs that can be leveraged. The king can grant him a title and land, the priest can offer him the solace of esteem and religious comfort and the rich man can offer him the gold to get what he wants through money.
But the common man has no knowledge of how to manage land, subjects or himself as befit by titles, nor does he really need the empty hollow promises of religion, nor does he really understand how to spend coin wisely..
A sellsword has already devoted his life and risks it for the pursuit of coin so the decision is a foregone conclusion.
This is why the only one Who wins in the end of the wars, is the bank of bravos.

This was resolved a long time ago. Humanity was enveloped by chaos. Sure the "sell sword" had the power to beat down the chaos, but we realized that those who could see how to order the chous, and deliver clear instuctions on how to deal with the chaos would benifit us all over the long term; hence a smart sell sord aligns him self with the wise king. We see this benchmarked with the idea of Marduk. Marduk could see everywhere, and spoke magical words.
Through all of GOT, this was by far my favourite line. Another good one is "You're a bastard. Wear it like armour and it can never be used against you."
These two are the only reason I watched game of thrones.
