    I took a friend with me up to the spillway from where the west ish highway crosses Oso creek. This time we took my little 14 ft alum w/ 5hp. Usually we walked up, my friend hooked a Flounder, 10lber and it looked like it had swallowed a football. We got some blue crab on way back and made my favorite… Blue Crab stuffed Flounder… that Flounder fought like hell, Jack was so freaked he kept trying to hand me the rod, but I told him to just listen to my instructions and we’d get him… we did. A 10lb + Flounder is an eye full. I used to take him once to the end of the south jetty at Port A. We had one of your good days and as you know it’s a long way back. I slung our very full stringer over my back adding to a couple rods to my other hand and Zjack took the rest, but on the way back everyone fishing there were going Ewwe and awwwe the long way back wanting to talk to us. Jack wanted to talk to them as well, but I told him it was gonna be impossible to do that. It would take us forever. We got back and cleaned the medium sized Reds and two of the largest, but carrying around a hundred pounds of Reds all that way was terrible. Maybe I should have cleaned them there, leaving the required ID fins or TPW., but that can sometimes attract the wrong fish for the others fishing…
    I really appreciate your videos of some of my old hot spots to share with my son in upper NY. It gives him an idea of what my fish stories were actually like. Guys like you and me always refuse to exaggerate, because we don’t have to…. Sometimes I wanna scream for leaving the coastal bend. I mean, boating, racing, guiding was my 27 year profession. One race I was on from Galveston to Vera Cruz took 5 days and 2 hours… and I always rigged a line and lure trailing from the stern rail on the new 40 footer I had recently sold. How can anyone make a trip like that without trolling something?
    Again thanks for your videos. You do a very excellent job and know your stuff. It goes right to my heart sir. Thank your crew too. They handle their fights well.

    Nice time of the year to get out and enjoy some fishing time with the family. Congratulations , looks like you guys did well! Are those jetties in Galveston Island or they further south down further in Matagorda. I live in Rockport fFulton for a few years helping my folks out on their shrimping boats and business about 35 years ago. I don't recognized the area you guys are fishing. It probably my old age catching up to me.

      No one ever gets annoyed by fishermen getting lines tangled and casting too close or on top of each other…?

    • @southtexasfishingfam3436
      @southtexasfishingfam3436  9 месяцев назад +1

      @leonardosaldana1701 90 percent of the time, the folks you see in videos are all friends, so we don't mind, and we all work together, often doing the same to each other since we work together. Now speaking of normal packed days. Same topic with a slightly different subject.. Packery channel Jetties, and sometimes other surrounding jetties, are usually really cool. For the most part, folks work together with the current. There is a method to the madness. And it is only used on heavy traffic days. folks who often fish it, work it, and have fun together. But i can for sure see what you are talking about it's not good, to be honest🤦‍♂️.

    Going to Rockport tomorrow and looking forward to catching some fish...... problem is my wife and i were in an accidents years ago and she has trouble walking on uneven surfaces. I'd like to try the jetties but think she would be uncomfortable walking on the rocks. Are there any jetties that are easier to fish that she wouldn't have to much trouble with? Will most likely fish the piers because of that, any suggestion on a good pier or two to go fish? Thank you sir!!

    • @southtexasfishingfam3436
      @southtexasfishingfam3436  9 месяцев назад +2

      Packery channel is a flat surfaced jetty just takes a little bit of work to get on the pavement it can be very good there it's where I started on this video.. now if you're going to rockport, say less, brother ..goose island state park pier is amazing for some big fish fun, especially at this time of year. Just take some dead shrimp with fishbites or some crabs. Try to get as far to the end as you can at least past the turn on the pier, and you will be good . Just cast your bait and be ready for a monster fish

      I understand, and I should have explained this in the video . However we are all friends. The video was edited I actually was drifting bait in that spot and lost a fish went to get bait, and my buddy casted his lure there meanwhile .. when I got back I casted my bait as I was drifting, and he was working around me. 80 percent of the folks you see in the video were invited or came with me. We fish all the time together, often taking turns casting in the same spot, especially if there is current and we are already close to eathother, its a cycle we do when we fish side by side .. shoot i would tell my buddy to get in there it goes both ways ...We fish all the time and work together all the time
