I bumped into Nate at KOH at the Ford Bronco display and was blown away that he immediately dropped what he was doing to come talk to me. Genuinely a super nice guy and very easy to relate to. Appreciated the time Nate.
Dude watching you build this stuff gets me so excited to build my shop! Great video bro. Bumper held up great at KOH!
Thanks man! I can't wait to watch what you build after the shop is done. You have a creative mind and will be a great fabricator after you start putting in the hours 🤘
Man you have an awesome spot for a shop build...
*Love the minibumper. With spare delete you dropped 200 lbs. I liked the steel eyes on the frame ends just because I pull all the time from weird angles and I like to be able to pull one high, and the other one low occasionally like if you're 45 degreed on a single track its easier than being dragged straight off when you're steering the opposite direction. Either way put your truck on a diet saves gas, reduces ft lbs neccessary to pull you out of a bottomless hole and trust me, you notice 1000 lbs less lunch the second you stomp on the gas around time.*
I liked the two recovery points
I really think you should have kept the shackle mounts you had on there at first. My truck has a pair of those hooks like you currently have but they just aren’t quite as versatile as shackle mounts.
Good clean work! I think it's too squared off. I prefer the corners to be angled up for more clearance. I also like the bullbar a little higher.
Why wouldn't you use propane instead of nitrous? I was always under the impression that propane injection was the way to go for diesels. Ymmv I suppose, but propane is easier to get too
I think it’s perfect minimalist and simplicity. Fits the Jeep perfectly.
No comment, RIGHT! Practically and from the weight reduction viewpoint it's a win, ascetically it seems a little off, the symmetry isn't right to my eye. But it's not my Jeep so if your happy that's all that matters. PEACE and have fun at KOH
LOVE the bumper, AND the stinger. Don't change it, in my opinion. Rock on!
I like the minimalist look of the new bumper.
Most of what I do is working with what I have, so I really appreciate you're work. Bumper looks super tight and that really works for what you are doing
Coming from a VW guy at heart, I can't wait to see more TDI content. Im about a week away from getting my ALH in my Toyota Pickup myself!
New bumper looks great, function over form, nothing you don’t need...and a huge weight savings too, seems like a win win to me. Thanks for the upload..:)
Function over looks. Checks all the boxes, skid plate for steering box. Not best looking bumper, but shaves weight and works. Good in my book
Bumper looks great. It fits that jeep perfect. Can't wait to see how it holds up long term.
I think the bumper is a pretty sweet design I really like how you always tuck everything as close as you can keeps everything looking like it's not poking way out like other bumpers
So I say this almost every video but it’s still true. I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from your channel. I taught myself to weld and even got a job as an aluminum welder. I want to learn some fabrication but one step at a time
Bumper looks good and I actually like the low profile stinger. Always remember that nothing is greater than an idea that's time has come. 😁
I have a spool gun that has been practically unused since 2002 but now you have me thinking about an aluminum bumper for my 78 f150. Will probably step it up to 3/8" plate being a heavier truck and all. Anyway, this is my favorite channel.
Bumper held up well and still looks great !
Tbh i was excited to see u make a stinger but the finished product looks very good! I admire ur skill of improv fabrication
Just whip up a quick bumper. Mad skills sir. Amazing stuff.
Can never go wrong putting your rig on a diet. Bumper looks great.
Like the bumper! but, still wanna see it with a stinger!
Nailed it Nate, that bumper turned out great.
I like the minimal aspect of it.
The timing on some of your vids has been epic! Several times now. Right now I'm building my second Jeepspeed and I gotta pay attention to weight this time. Gonna use as much AL and plastics I can get away with. Looks great with the low stinger BTW.
A carbon fiber hood would look good on there... 😁
Looks AMAZING dude. I love the “simple” attitude you have when it comes to your Jeep. Nothing flashy. Just all functional. Keep it up man!
Cool you were able to drop this video day after the race/ diets work even for jeeps
I own a 2000 4Runner and hopefully will be doing some mods this summer that I have learned from your builds. Can't wait to hear your story on KOH! Hope you are having a blast!
Love it Nate! The minimalist look is perfect for that TJ. I am currently building as many parts as i can out of aluminum because here in the northeast I need less steel to worry about rusting. Love your fab videos.
Weight loss, diet, performance enhancing drugs... the TJ is getting ready for the rock crawling olympics
Lol

I was hoping to work on my aluminum welding this winter but with all the rain we had last year I wasn't able to finish my workshop. Now waiting for spring. You always show us great ideas.
Thank you! Good luck with the new work space! You will be so happy when it is complete
I think the low profile bumper drives home the lightweight/ tactical style your entire project is going for. Nice job man
I think the minimalistic aluminum bumper looks great.
Thank you! It's growing on me as well 🤘
Good project, 4x4 weight reduction is the hot topic with a couple of mates and I at the moment, real easy to end up over gvm.
Hope you have a great time at KOH 👍
Your Form & Function of this Build looks great!
Thanks brother!
i like the bumper a lot. simple looking.
I like it but I think the skid would look better all the way across. Love the channel! Thanks!!
Light and practical bumper. Nice one
I think it looks great. It's your rig, if you're happy with it, at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
Love the looks of the bumper
I think you nailed that bumper. I was undecided until you painted it but looks great.
In Australia you'd get hammered for the "hook point". People drive off and leave you stranded if that's all you have.
Will be interesting to see how the alloy holds up.
Love the fab work.
Bumper turned out great
It’s functional and light weight. I think it looks good.
Looks great!
I would definitely relocate the winch control box. For looks and protection
Excellent work, always grateful for the tips you give, when I start to modify my Toyota BJ40 I will not have so many problems. Thanks Bro
Always love the builds and you do a great job ! Honestly this one looks like you didn’t build it, not your usual badass look
I like the bumper but I really would like to see a hood hoop just to save your front radiation area in case of a roll over! Great channel and I'm always getting ideas from you!
I think I agree that it doesn’t fit the rest of the Jeep. But I think it’s a good piece to experiment with and perhaps revisit in the future. Either way love the content. Thanks.
Always fun to see you’re creatively Nate. Cool to see you made it to KOH. I’m guessing that’s about a 19 hour road trip for you? Gonna head over to Max’s channel and check out all the fun you guys had.
Bumper looks great!
Hope your having a great time out there man.
Everything you fab up is incredible! Love a short bull bar like it is currently. Keep doing you though!
The front bumper is clean, neat and has a industrial feel. Saweet. You still have time to put on the stinger later. Cant wait to see the rest of the mods.
Love it. I have been running a simular style steel bumper on my tj for a little over 4 years.
Bro, sorry I fan girled you so hard in the desert. It was awesome to see someone I actually follow out there though. Keep up the good work!
Weight reduction is where it is at. Nice fabrication!
I would have stopped with the winch plate and the two soft shackle winch points, since I never let looks supersede performance, function, or weight reduction. Thanks for the tip on the lightweight winch. Looking forward to updates on how it works and lasts.
I love your work with what you got style.
Bumper looks awesome Nate 👊🏻👊🏻. Also liking that new warn winch very much.
Love the bumper. I have a cut down and reinforced factory bumper with a custom winch mount under the bumper between the rails on my XJ. look forward to see how the aluminum stands up? Time to brush up on my Tig welding. Enjoy KOH. Wish I was there...
I have used thick-web aluminum channel to build a JK bumper. It came out really nice, weighed about 25lbs but holds a face-mounted 9k winch without deflection, and has inset flange-mount LEDs. I built a similar steel one also for another Rubicon. Sandwich mounted them with premade shackle mounts, since JKs have flanged frames.
I like the flange mounts, I’m going to build that into my OBS f-350 frame as well (like a newer superduty. It’ll hold a smitty 17.5k winch.
Loving the channel!
Thank you!
Looks awesome
I love stingers. My yj is the same color scheme as your tj!!! I love your channel and I’ve been here since the bleeping days! Thanks for the amazing content
It looks good simple and useful. I went aluminum with my front bumper and I need to do that to the rear too.
When you head back from the hammers race you need to stop in Redding CA. And hit our OHV area. Blacksheep have been doing improvements to the rocks. Like the bumper. Just finish mine. Keep up the great job.
I think the bumper looks awesome. I like it the way it is. I am not a fan of big stingers. Another great fab video.
Was your intention to angle the recovery tabs down? I'm curious on the thought process. My front points do come into contact with rocks on occasion and I think angling them up would help deflect the rig up when trying to get over a steep approach.
Welp, nevermind lol
I would prefer they stick straight out but I didn't think I would have enough space because of how I cut the frame at an angle. I didn't like the way they turned out and didn't need them so they will end up on a future project 👍
Great job again Nate.
Love the fact your making the effort to bury your buggy light.
My comp buggy over here in nz is 1355kgs and I still want it lighter males such a difference approx 3000 pounds
Nice work on the bumper!
This will fun to follow along to see where you can shed some pounds on the Jeep.
I also find it funny because I weighed my truck last week at Randles off of Canyon and it's heavier than Ithought .
They are always heavier then we think lol.
I like the look of the bumper itself. I think a bigger stinger is the right route to go though.
That bumper turned out amazing! I really like the lower bar look on it. Don’t change it!
I like the look on that bumper man. I would also have liked a bigger stinger but that looks awesome!
looking good - I like the look and feel of it!
I'm digging the minimalist look. My one concern would be getting into position that block off acess to the hook.
I've been thinking About the next phase of my TJ's future. And Aluminum is in that future. I plan on doing both bumpers, front fenders and rock sliders all Aluminum. Control arms and probably the skid plates as well. Watching your videos gives me lots of ideas. I think I'm going to leave my Aluminum bare though. Just my personal preference.
Does anybody else notice that Nate kind of looks like Rudy from Matt’s off road recovery?
I've been wondering about building an aluminum bumper for a while now, but don't know enough about the properties to know if it's feasible or not. I'm so glad you're willing to take this on. As usual, well done.
Looks good to Me looking forward to the finished product.
As usual, excellent work.
Looks good
"I'm gonna put nitrous on it, I've got a bigger cam I'm gonna put in.... And stay tuned for my TJ engine rebuild video this summer."
gotta keep us coming back for MORE!
@@zarkeh3013 I'll watch that one when he makes it!
Turned out fantastic!
IMHO, I wouldn’t have painted it. I like the raw aluminum or steel look. It just looks beautifully industrial if that makes sense. Love the build though. Thanks for sharing.
I agree that being lightweight is a crazy advantage that people overlook. Looking forward to watching your ideas on this as I'm doing the same. I'm working on aluminum sliders myself. Other items to consider... soft doors, lightweight battery, aluminum tailgate, and a composite hood. More realistic for you... maybe trade out the big steel skid/link system for something lighter but I think that'd be a hard pill to swallow.
A TJ build vid to start the day. JeepNation thanks you good sir! Looking forward to seeing how this holds up over time and abuse.
Thanks! Me too!
Holy Cow!! Nate great job, I dig the new winch bumper and the weight loss!! 38lbs dropped just from the bumper. I know you like the stinger, I did too but this bumper is very sleek and goes with the lightweight theme you are pushing for. 4,000lbs is a huge goal and you are definitely starting in the right direction. Enjoy KOH and I cant wait to see what's next!!
Thanks!
I'm glad you see it like I do lol. I'm sure alot of folks would wonder if the juice is worth the squeeze but to me this is a venture worth pursuing 🤘
Watching this while rebuilding a rear axle.
Living the dirt lifestyle. Lol
Nice!
I'm impressed. Since you left bleepin jeep, you have really stepped up.
@@brettspaulding5855 thanks buddy 🙏
Bro I love stingers! I have 2013 Jeep Wrangler jk sport and have a
Smittybilt JK SRC Front Bumper and love the look of it! Great build!
You are skilled beyond your years Nate
Thank you!
So much lighter! Awesome stuff man, bumper looks neat as, suits the lightweight look of the rig I reckon. Aluminium bars never looked so good 👌🏼
super sleek and slim definitely dope I think a bigger stinger would look cool also.
*thumbs up* nice simple strong to the point. if, IF the winch plate starts to buckle from hard pulls a pair of triangles underneath from close to the winch mount bolts to the face plate should take care of any of that. generally the failures of alum is stress/grain cracking, usually at gouge spots (where a rock or bolt head has dug into it) and where the weld has made the surrounding metal more brittle then it's original alloy. steel bumpers will do the same just take longer (or more force/more impacts) ... use big steel washers at mount bolts, and try and keep your welds at less critical or generally 'glancing' blow spots. and if you are beating the absolute tar out of your bumper, your probably the one that built it, and know which spots to check on your rig on a regular basis to keep tabs on it anyways
Love that bumper!
It looks good, same as you though I was disappointed with the lack of stinger LOL
I think a few dimpled speed holes need added on the large flat area below the winch. Or a recessed LED light bar down there.
Looks great Nate! 👍
Love that he casually just throws out that the jeep is getting nitrous 🤣. Love the minimalist bumper style.
Lol it "needs" more power 😁
