Rares Macovei One thing I noticed about how IGN weighs the length of a game in their reviews is usually by how quickly you can rush through the main story. In the case of Alan Wake, you can beat the game in like 9-11 hours if you really wanted to. Remember that reviewers for major publications like IGN really don't have much time to put together their reviews. What matters more to them over thoroughness and accuracy, is being one of the first publications to put out reviews for new games to capitalize on trends while the iron is hot. Usually when IGN gets their hands on a copy of a new game to review, they only have a week to play & beat a game, write a script, make, edit and publish a video. So of course they're going to rush through it all as quickly as possible. If you want more accurate and thorough reviews, I'd recommend only watching reviews from independent creators instead of major publications.
Also I'm not sure which game came out the same night as Alan Wake but I remember being one of maybe 2 in gamestop picking up this at midnight while everyone else was picking up the other game (Maybe another call of duty? I can't remember)...
Evaquiel Because Remedy worked on it for 7 years. (Max Payne 2 în 2003, then Alan Wake in 2010. Being created as a console exclusive helped with pushing visuals as well)

Alan Wake has been one of the best horror games I've ever played! I wish a follow up game, or something close to Alan Wake, was made. Next game on my list to play, Last of Us.
I don't get why anyone would expect everything to be wrapped up nice and neat at the end of a thriller/horror film or game. Other than that, I agree with the review. It was accurate, and well-worded! Oh, but the soundtrack should've gotten a mention. It's one of the best game soundtracks I've ever heard.

Playstation 5 release - can't wait to play it again
I’d love to see a new Alan Wake game for the ps4 thats completely free roaming through the wilderness and small towns that would be excellent fun.
I really enjoyed this game. I probably wouldn't have even tried it had it not been free with Quantum Break.
I am only playing it because it came free with my copy of quantum break, How was it??
ryan kelly same here
People like you are the reason why Alan Wake didn't get a sequel. You should've played it at release
Dean Janson It's an amazing game
swampthing94 Yeah hopefully we will get one soonish, Phil Spencer has said he really wants one
Alan Wake had a complete ending, a little odd coming from IGN. Did they even finish the game?
No, it didn't.
It had as complete an ending as any person should expect, from horror/thriller.
Vic 2.0 Yeah the ending was incomplete but it doesn't mean it was bad. This is okay in order to keep the mystery going as it does this well, but in reality it was just to make room for DLC. OP is just trying to look smart when he really isn't
The game took me 22 hours (with both DLCs) on Normal. How is it NOT a particular long game?
Back here for Control
Please Remedy do a Remastered and a Sequel or a Definitive Eition for Alan Wake
One of controls dlcs will be a about Alan wake
Looking forward to the remaster !!!
Also I'm not sure which game came out the same night as Alan Wake but I remember being one of maybe 2 in gamestop picking up this at midnight while everyone else was picking up the other game (Maybe another call of duty? I can't remember)...
who’s here because of the remaster rumour?
Whos's here after the Alan Wake Remastered reveal???
Here! Can’t wait!!!
2020 and still one of my favorite games and this is back when ign reviews were fun to watch!!
ALAN WAKE IN CONTROL DLC LET'S GOOOOO
How come this game looks better then most recent 360 games?
Evaquiel Because Remedy worked on it for 7 years. (Max Payne 2 în 2003, then Alan Wake in 2010. Being created as a console exclusive helped with pushing visuals as well)
Dude, I love Alan Wake. I played it on my PC when I came out. Now that I have an Xbox One and pre-ordered Quantum Break, I can't wait to play all 3 games: Quantum Break, then Alan Wake and finally American Nightmare. Thank you, Remedy.
thank you Microsoft*
+jeesboxhardman Remedy is the developer Microsoft the publisher.
Goin free to play on Epicstore can't wait to try this!
2quid on steam?!
Came here because of Control. Considering buying it now. Don't know how I missed this ten years ago
its up there in my favorite game of all times, I started control only because I heard Wake is back
Great game, I miss it. I can't play it anymore since I got a PS4 and my 360 broke down.
+Trollzy Traitor.
+Stupid MAN2488 a lot of ppl transfered from xbox 360 to ps4 both of them are the best consoles in their gen.
Stupid MAN2488
Dude calm down, calling someone a traitor just because they bought a different piece of plastic that plays games is laughable to say the least.
+Matas Gr It's opinion as to what is the best but let's be honest the main reason people went over to ps4 is because it was cheaper at launch lmao
Best game ever!!!
you joking right
It's a great game, but no where near being the best
Tell me your top 10 games list then
Ayan44 Dude, that requires too much thought that I want to put in.
americayeagermeister too much thought to name your top games? Really?
anyone know what song is playing super quietly in the background from 2:14-3:32
Control brought me here
the only thing about this game I didn't like was no melee weapons. other then that it was great.
The ending was one of this games strongest points. Perfect 10.
+Dan Lepine Alan, wake up!
I cannooooooooot wait to see what happens when the AWE DLC is released for Control!
What's this?! A 9.0! I thought it would be a "Too many trees 7.8 / 10" rating.
This was back when ign wasn't about false reviews but about their honesty
Ages ago then lol
Back to the past makes me sad wish I can go back
Same here :'(
It's free on epic games now
game with obscure ending ....but future sequels of this game makes this game a must play
Anyone here after the AW2 release?
Alan wake is great game😊😊👍👍
OMFG I saw the offer for 3 dollars on the whole franchise, which I joked cost too much for Alan Wake, but I wasn't expecting this. Thumbs up, Mercier.
Who's here before playing Control AWE?
one of the best of all time
Playing it in 2021 and it is always a beautiful game
So I guess I'm the only one here because of control
Me too. Control is one of the best games I've ever played! Just finished it now.
I'm here on directors orders;)
I this worth buying?
its okay.
hell yeah
This is on Xbox Game Pass for PC (and probably xbox too?) as of 02-04-2021 Gonna give it a go as I heard it ties into Control, and thoroughly enjoyed that one.
this game even looks better than mafia 3! a game 6 years old.
Ezio true but mafia 2 looks better than 3 also.
downphoenix also true games these days are seriously going down hill mafia 3 was one of my most wanted sequels before it was announced
