**Some of the books/comics have timeline inconsistencies or are intentionally left vague by BioWare, so while this may not be 100% accurate, it's very very close!**
Just to clarify (because I just noticed this) all the DLCs for all the games are pretty good and are worth doing. The game has time jumps between the different acts so i tried to include them on the timeline. But dont be intimidated, i know it looks like a lot on the visual. I didn't add images to those because it was too cluttered. But just play the complete game and read the books afterwards. I put them on here to show the timeline of events not the specific order to do them.

I always tell people dragon age origins is the perfect middle ground between lord of the rings and game of thrones
surprised BioWare didnt bundle all these into a legacy edition like Mass Effect

For those starting Origins. Save as much as possible and before EVERY door ( loading screen). It's an older game and seems to be not doing well with newer hardware and software.
And it's my favorite.
My only problem with DA2 is that you can’t be a mage and have *spoiler person* in your party.

We shouldn't be so critical of BioWare. I watch Mass Effect playthroughs, currently lucyjrobyn. During which EA contacted her and asked her to be an ambassador. She asked what are her obligations. She can't say ur'anus when scanning planets anymore. Just now she is in ME3. *Raphael Sbarge (Kaidan Alenko) contacted her and wished her a Happy Birthday. He indicated the reason for the Legendary Edition was BioWare felt we needed to have something to do being locked at home.

play all YES from 1 to 3 each one counts and depends on your choices what happens in the next game, more or less but still take into account.
Of course DA1 savegame can be used on da2 to continue the game as played and finished on DA1.
But with DA3 you can't use da2 save game, that's a shame, only if you use DA3 save game edit and select what options you want, that is, how you want DA1 and 2 to be played, according to your preferences.
That is, if the char in da1 is elf or human or in DA2 if the main char is a mage or warrior.

I do certainly need this before Dreadwolf. I got Mass Effect down to a T, but with Dragon Age, I'm completely lost 😅

Just finished re-playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, all the way through Trespasser (at 5 am this morning over a sleepless night) and I am super excited for Dreadwolf. I’m really hoping it’s revealed at Summer Games Fest on the 7th.
Trespasser ties up Inquisition so well and sets up Dreadwolf so amazingly. Kept me on the hook for these past 10 years lolol
Great review. Some people will probably consider me an apostate for the fact that I liked it better on Console than on PC. It would have been great to have had a voiced protagonist like in Mass Effect. I loved everything about, the story, the characters and the combat. I felt the combat was weighty and real. The other moved into more anime-style motions, jumpy, hyper-fast movements. 2 was okay but Inquisition felt repetitive in terms of gameplay.
I admit I'd love to see BW do a Legendary edition of Dragon Age so the older games like Origins and DA2 can get some updates and fixes
The first game, Origins, is the one that is worth playing of the entire trilogy.

I started with DA:I, too and its pure love for me. After that I played DA:O and DA:2.
It would be so nice, if they give us a DA:Legenadary Edition and in the same step remake DA:2 big problem with these hardly copy/paste dungeons. I also would love to see some changes to the ending for DA:2, but this will probably never happen.
Outstanding work in putting this together. Looking forward to Dread Wolf! Bioware didn't seem to be rushed Dragon Age as they were with Mass effect 3 or forced to include EA marking research in the storyline.
In a way after the bombs of Anthem, ME3 and Andromeda. Bringing back Dragon Age and Mass Effect might be the back to back home runs Bioware needs. I hope they get them

Kala changing your PC's clock works just as well if you don't want to use mods to get around the War Table timer.
Personally, I believe that all of the games are most relevant to Dreadwolf. They've been hinting for a while now that they're going to resolve a lot of loose ends, (bad way to put it) plot points and decisions that are very important from Origins and 2 but that we as players have never seen the consequences of. I just hope with Dreadwolf there aren't as many meaningless side quests that add nothing to the lore or impact to the game like Inquisition did. In Origins you didn't have to touch the side quests at all where as in Inquisition, in order to progress through the main story, unlock locations and so on, you needed to gain power through completing side quests. It would have been an interesting concept if the quests themselves were at all interesting (not counting the companion's quests of course). The main story was amazing however. I'm just glad it seems they are going back to Origins and 2 while also keeping it relevant to Inquisition and of course, Dreadwolf.

I tried Dragon Age: origins ultimate edition but had so many crashes and not compatibility to my new computer so I left it. I think it crashed even with the ram fix thingy. and I remember that game had some long tedious dream like sequence in the first part of the game which bored me play it again back in the day. so I changed to Mass Effect and man that's just the best game ever.
Edit: didn't even mind the 30fps cutscene limitation of Dragon Age origins.. but man the crashes just made it unplayable

At first I installed the ram fix but it didn't work at all. I searched more for other solutions. And then I found da:o ram fix and it worked like magic.

I love all of these games. They all have their flaws but I think they all have something to offer. Hope newcomers to the series are able to experience all of them.

I just started Origins last night, and finished the ritual of the Grey Wardens. I love these types of games: Skyrim, Dragon's Dogma, Kingdoms of Amalur et al.
With the exception of Hogwarts Legacy, most of my game library consists of older titles and franchises.
When a 10 year old game or older can still knock it out of the park, and be more engrossing than 90% of current titles, one has to question the creativity or lack thereof from current studios and publishers.

Hey Kala I feel like you should make a video about the article that came out that teased Dragon age Dreadwolf doing a marketing campaign with Xbox as well as the fact that you can Pre Downloaded Dreadwolf now on Xbox. I feel like both those pieces of information basically guarantee Dreadwolf is appearing at the Xbox showcase.
Mass Effect fan boy for many a year. Never played Dragon Age, just started my first playthrough, Inquisition is the one my brother has so i started with that one, Human Mage, lets see what all the fuss is about :)

Okay so
the only thing i have about this is
the map sizes ARE SO WEIRD
they are simultaneously large and small. you move quicker than you think you do. but the maps are very large to try and compensate
i think the map that shows this BEST is the swamp. where it just feels like a slog with how little camps there are but its probably an area you will spend the LEAST amount of time in because i think there is only one quest there (idk i havent ever got passed act 1)
in Hinterlands there are multiple camps to fast travel between
the only real slog i feel is trying to go to Redcliff and thats about it
and the horse is useless, it feels slower to try and use the horse to get anywhere opposed to just walking
this is just my experience and i spent most of the 26 hours of one of my characters just in the hinterlands
there was a lot of stuff to do and i enjoyed just tunning out and watching something else until i actually needed to focus on the story
Oh I totally agree. My #1 advice for Inquisition is always to leave the hinterlands as soon as possible 😂

I stayed till I got to lvl like 6 then left and then kept coming back for mats and quests and finally killed the dragon at lvl 10

Wish i got the ultimate editions for origins and 2 .. gonna have to spend $65 for all the dlc i don’t have on top of the $20-30 i spent on the base games ( ~$40 for origins and ~$20 for 2)and xbox digital store might not have ultimate editions anyway so :,)
I recommend just rebuying the origins ultimate edition next time it's on sale. It was 5 dollars the other day!
@@kalaelizabeth I wish I could, sadly the xbox digital store doesn't seem to have a digital ultimate edition for either Origins or Dragon age 2 I'd probably have to-go buy the psychical version of the games in order to play which is unfortunate since I'm on the all digital console but, I do own a xbox one s that should be able to play the games.
I haven't played the DA series for at least a decade at this point (somehow), and for some reason I only got through early DA3 before stopping, but my plan is to play through the full DA series maybe a month before DA4 comes out, so it's all one linear playthrough, no waiting. I appreciate your advice in your vid here, I feel like it's a good guide for what (and how) to play/read to do things right. Thanks! :)
DAI took me a month to reach the ending and that's me already putting the difficulty on easy mode because of the amt of bloat content there is. You probably need 2-3 months if you were to play all in one go.

If DA4 comes out in the fall, then starting out soon after the Game Awards in June seems like it might be the best idea... though, FFXIV:DT comes out soon too.. but that'll take a lot less time to complete. Ah well, I really can't complain about having "too many" choices, except, Bioware, please hurry up with ME5, lol.

Inquisition has a lot of missteps that make it very tedious, and it really shouldn't be called a "must" for Dreadwolf, unless you want to turn a lot of people off to playing the new game.
I disagree. Narratively it is very clearly THE most important considering Dreadwolf is some kind of sequel. It will also most likely be the closest feel to the next game.
@@kalaelizabeth Inquisition is not universally liked, nor considered the best in the series by everyone. I think it will be fine for people like that to play Dreadwolf without first being required to play a different game that they won't enjoy. I'm sure you've considered that there will be quite a few who will get to the Hinterlands, get bored out of their minds, and take a pass on Dreadwolf.
Sure but people going into Dragon Age and playing origins and expecting that for Dreadwolf would be more letdown than people who played Inquisition and didn't like it. Origins will no doubt be the furthest away from whatever dreadwolf ends up as the series has majorly evolved over years. My video isn't about favorites, it's about the series as a whole and content tied to Dreadwolf, which Inquisition is far more relevant than Origins.

I love the games, but I hate how they add books and comics as essentially requirements going into Dread Wolf.
I hope they do well, but I'm not interested in it and the combat style is the reason why, I'm interested in Mass Effect and the return.
Same sort of thing,its just that one is in space and one is mediavel,but they are just as good as each other.
Love dragon age series. Have p,aged so many times over and over. Dao is my favorite and IMO dai romance was a let down for me
For me, Origins is by far, still the best RPG in the series..
Both sequals (Especially Inquisition), was dumbed down to a very casual experience, locking weapons and armour behind classes unlike Origins..
I liked the direction for active combat, but the fact that they lost the RPG feel was.. Sad.. It became more of an Action-Adventure game with RPG elements, not a real rpg like Origins.
Not to speak of Inquisition where they just completely removed healing magic annd.. well soo much more compared to what was in previous games..
That does not mean i did not enjoy the story in DA2 or Inquisition, i enjoyed them a lot, but it did not give me the same feeling that Origins did.
I'm not sure if i will play Dreadwolf, i will wait and see when it is released. See what people think about it and watch some videos of it first, before i decide.

I played origins years and years ago and inquisition when it first came out. The setting and story didn’t hook me the same way ME did, I think high fantasy stuff just isn’t my thing.
I hear there's a new mod that gets rid of the level grinding. That should be helpful.

Nothing against those who like it but even if it's free, sadly, Dragon Age Inquisition lacked dark, witty, and mysterious romance characters like Morrigan, Isabella, and Merril for me to push and complete the game. However, I'm still hoping for the best in the next game.
Baldur's Gate 3 is the sequel to Dragon Age Origins we NEVER received from BioWare.
That being said, if Dragon Age Dreadwolf can't even keep up at least TONALLY with Baldur's Gate 3, I honestly think they should just bow out of the gaming landscape and stop wasting everyone's time 🎮
I will never understand how inquisition became a game of the year. I love dragon age, but inquisition is the worst game i have ever played. I keep hearing people recommending to get out of hinterlands asap and that it gets better after that, but it really doesn't, its just more of the same trash side quests, level requirements for main story progression, time gated progression, hunting down companions between missions in pointlessly large castle as they keep changing spots, only to find out they dont have anything new to say, most uninspired prisoner beginning ever with everybody instantly trusting your prisoner, etc. I am glad you mentioned mods rather than just the typical "get out of hinterlands" because inquisition is unplayable without mods. As for origins, it also has mods that help deal with the combat if it isnt any player's preference. Dragon age 2 gets a lot of hate, but i have to say it is rare case of rpg where the protagonist has a family and to me that always makes the world feel much more immersive and the stakes more real.
