Thank you for the tutorial. Very good and to the point. I get so tired of seeing amateurs try to repair things. So nice to see a ground strap. It helps to make you stand out at legit.
This is my exact model. The tutorial was straight forward and you enabled me to clean and treat my system within in 30 minutes. Probably saved me a good couple hundred bucks by not taking it in. Thank you! Thank you! THANK you!
Thank you so much for this video. Yours is the first video that I have found that provides the level of detail in each of the steps--that is very necessary--to accomplish a fan replacement. As it was, before watching your video, I got all the screws except for the shiny flat screws under the optical drive. They didn't even register in my mind as something that needed to be removed. Those shiny screws, though, one fought hard to stay in place. It took two of us and a pair of pliers to mangle that third shiny screw out. Thank you again!!
You sir are amazing, it is because of your grand wisdom that I was able to fix my computer. I wish I could give you 10 million likes. May everything positive in the universe gravitate towards you for lifelong success. I salute you!

Im planning on replacing the screen and see if there’s any way I can make my laptop run faster. Having removed all parts would be grateful if you could provide your insight on this issue. Thanks.
Followed this video to remove the hard drive out of my laptop. I don't have a fan like this one does. ( I bought it 3 years ago or so, and the HDD stopped working just shortly after warranty went out. ) Do you think that could be the reason? I've never dropped it.
There are 3 silver screws holding it in. Remove them then just pull firmly to disconnect it from the motherboard. Also if you cannot open the CD tray due to it not being powered on, simply put a small pin or needle into the little hole located to the bottom right of the eject button.
But even an eyeglass repair screw driver is too large and my next size is too small. Do I have to buy a special screw driver just to get the CD screws out?

If you didn't find out by now, there is a latch that must be flipped. It looks like it is part of the socket that the ribbon cable runs into. The latch runs the full width of the ribbon socket and is a different color than the actual socket (I think blue on mine, but his looks black. If you watch closely, you can see him flip it.). It needs to be flipped (I think up). That will release the ribbon from the socket. There are a few of these latches on other ribbons also. Just make sure to fully seat the ribbons and latch them when reinstalling. I just upgraded to an SSD and had to take mine apart. I also removed the optical drive, bought a cheap caddy to take its place and put the old HDD in place of the optical drive. Now I have 2 drives. Works great. I use mine for media viewing/ listening a lot. It will use the SSD for the boot and apps, and the HDD for the media. It opens the programs almost instantly now.
I over volted my usb trying to read a bad enclosure drive. I took this kind of computer to a repair shop and was told it didnt look promising to attempt a repair as no power was going into the machine using an adapter.
