Stephen King described Umbridge as the most ingenious character in literature history for being so universally unlikable. He said the ability to evoke such a strong reaction of hate from fans was the perfect hated character. People love Draco and he has a lot of redeeming qualities and internal struggle. It's pretty clear nobody at watchmojo has ever read harry potter

yup, noticed that too (all 3 r Stephen king adaptations)The Mist (at least in the King novella) is set in a real town in Maine, and there is a supermarket at the location given, it's about a mile and a half from my house. Whenever I shop there on a rainy/foggy day i'm so tempted to just yell out "there's something in the mist!"

Draco was a fan favorite and after the fourth movie he grew up a bit and wasn't as much of an asshole. Umbridge would be a much better choice, she's a fuckin monster
I have to agree. Even Voldemort was more likable than Umbridge. Umbridge is universally hated among Harry Potter fans.
Top 10 bands that broke up
Spoiler Alert! I think Percy Wetmore is worst of them all (including Umbridge, Malfoy and the others) In the scene where he's eventually punished by the guards, it's one of these scenes where you laugh your a*s off, not because it's funny, but because they punish the guy they punish. And, different to the other characters I knew in this list, Wetmore being as despicable, cruel and evil as he is is one of the driving forces in the movie.
But I do wanna meet the guy who portrayed him, cause he did one of the top ten performances ever, with the top five all being in the Green Mile

I love this line/these lines especially since the Chief talks so little in the first three games that his line came as quite the surprise. Also "I was gonna shoot my way out. Mix things up a little." by the Chief is very cool. I don't think those would make it into the Top 10 since those are made to reflect the opinions of a wider audience but they are among my personal favourites.

If anything he was one of the more likeable characters in that movie as he was so interesting and well written, despite being a backstabbing and murderous Nazi, which I believe was Tarantino's intent.

these are all intentionally meant to be unlikeable characters. Jar Jar is an unintentional unlikeable character. He was supposed to be likeable comic relief, but in execution the opposite effect happened.

I dunno, if I had to choose who was worse between Malfoy and Umbridge, it would be Umbridge every time. I hated every moment of her in the books and on the screen. She was so repugnant it was almost unbearable. Not to mention at least Malfoy got his comeuppance every now and again, while she seemed to skate through her heinous acts without ever really being stopped.

This is a very good list and while I agree on the whole, a couple of notable omissions, Annie Wilkes played by Kathy Bates in Misery and Fabienne played by Maria de Medeiros in Pulp Fiction.
Actually, Fabienne was more annoying than unlikeable, but a great list nontheless.

Great list, but how about Dr. Eldon Tyrell from Blade Runner (4 years, really?!), Catherine from Cruel Intentions (I don't care if I spelled her name wrong, that's how much I hate her), Syndrome from the Incredibles (although he had a good reason to go bad), Warner from Legally Blonde.

Bill Lumbergh was HILARIOUS! He was so annoying that I loved him! Yeah, I know that makes no sense but when watching that movie, I start laughing before Bill says anything.
I kinda like Johnny in Karate kid. The most annoying character in the movie is that " get him a body bag " kid.
One of the most powerful scores was when Commodus killed his father, in fact the entire Gladiator score was powerful, much like Hans Zimmer's usual work!
Commadus should be SHOCKED to be on this list,since he expected all of Rome to "love" him since he became the Emperor but then feels insulted once he learns Maximus is alive.

I feel a bit bad for Draco cause of his intimidating father. Lucius is arguably to blame for a lot of Draco's worst traits. It's shown how scared he is of his own father, and rightfully so because it's implied that Lucius knows how to use Avada Kedavra. If anything Lucius should be on the list... except his actor does have a pretty good performance going for him. Well, so does Dolores, but still.
If Umbridge is not number 1 there is something seriously wrong with this list
where is geoffery of Game of thrones?
Johnny starts out unlikeable but he gets some redemption at the end. He starts out as a jealous jerk, but at the tournament, he accepts his loss in a situation where protesting would have been understandable. Johnny would have been a better protagonist than villain.
I think the warden in Shawshank should have been closer to #1. He punishes Andy for finding out he's innocent. And then murders the ONLY man that can give Andy his freedom. Now THAT is cruelty... Not to mention the fact that he gave Andy the longest stretch in the whole in Shawshank history.

Some characters like Shooter or Biff are that funny or over the top you sorta like them but
Doyle from Sling Blade is one of the meanest mofos I’ve ever seen in a movie, and the scary thing about him is that there are real people out there just like him
I don't know if anyone else remembers reading "Mad Magazine," but in the one that lampooned "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" they referred to her as Nurse Wretched. It was a scream! I also found new admiration in Joaquin Phoenix's performance as Comodus as he was so vile and hateful. It took me a while to be able to think of watching him in another role.
Half of these characters are awesome. It is their unlikability that makes them likeable.

Umm Amon Goeth in Schindler's List? The guy woke up every morning and went hunting for people that weren't working, had a woman executed for pointing out the flaws in the foundation of barracks under construction, shot a child who couldn't get the ring out of his bathtub, etc. He was the biggest bag of shit in the history of cinema and Ralph Fiennes played him brilliantly.

SPOILER ALERT FOR the Mist. Say what you want about #2 Mrs. Carmody, but the truth is she steadfastly believed that the mist would clear if David Drayton's little boy was sacrificed (killed) and almost the minute this happens the mist does clear, so while you may think that made her an unlikable character, she was right.

A lot of times my feelings for an unlikable character depend on whether there was justice for the horrible things they did. So, (SPOILER) characters like Percy Wetmore from The Green Mile or The Warden in The Shawshank Redemption don't really bother me too much, because I know they'll get theirs in the end. Whereas the nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest leaves me in an uncontrollable rage whenever I even think about the movie.
This is a good list, but you should have put Sensei Kreese instead of Johnny and Umbridge instead of Malfoy. Johnny and Malfoy have redeemable qualities and turn a leaf at the end of their movies, while Umbridge and Kreese start out and stay assholes.
I'm a little surprised to see Draco on this list at all. He's one of the most popular HP characters. I'm not a fan, but I would still pick him over Umbridge.

Percy Wetmore made me hate humanity to an extreme extent. As impressionable as I am, I can't stand anyone who is willing to take being higher up on the food chain for granted. The Green Mile was the most emotional movie I have ever watched, and, even though I hate his character, Doug Hutchison captured his smart ass attitude perfectly.

OK this is just wrong where is Umbridge from harry potter and yes i know that she was mentioned as 'annoying' when draco malfoy was announced as no. 6 but umbridge was way worse then drraco was she was just plain infuriating from the moment you first see her.

No no no no, the thing is people feel bad for Draco, we pity him, and he has a complete change of character at the end. Dolores Umbridge the whole fandom hates and for good reason. She was a nasty piece of work, and just plain scary. Like she is hated more than the actual villain. She literally tortured her students, and forced a dictatorship on them.
Draco is likeable (or that's my opinion), and everyone hates umbridge more then voldemort himself , because umbridge is a villain (If we can call her that) that is sort off a real life thing. Everyone knows that one teacher that is so awful you could strangle him/her or that one boss that just thinks that he can boss you around like a stupid little slave because he hass more power then you have. While, In voldemort's case, no one knows a person that kills everyone he/she see's and has a horde of murder buddy's (or at least I hope no one knows that kind of person!)
