Roy Kelton Orbison. NO-one but no-one does heart-break and despair like the Big O. No-one like him before or after. An original. a voice without compare even back in the 50s and 60s . Such desolate despair with that Texan drawl. The man from Wink in Texas. Love his voice and his demeanour. A very humble man with the voice that spoke the truth. Thank you for your reaction
Elvis called him the best singer in the world...now that's some praise indeed. Should listen to him sing 'Indian wedding song', 'Leah' and 'Blue Bayou'...you wont be disappointed.
Bruce Springsteen said that he wanted to write songs like Dylan , sing like Roy Orbison, and make albums with the Phil Spectre "Wall of Sound" ....but he said he soon realized that "no one can sing like Roy Orbison".
Roy was the goat I love Roy Orbison I spent hours or playing one song over and over Roy is the soul of rock and roll truly masterful voice that has weeping like a baby Roy truly talent iconic singer my favorite song are "crawling " and "the one"" so many song pick all of them and u find lost wanting hear more Roy Orbison I do trust hear the great voice of Roy orbison
I first heard this on the radio in 1964 and it blew us out of the water. It still has the same emotional effect on me as it did the first time. 60 years later.
@@danieldickson8591 I remember seeing a photo taken in Sun Studio of Elvis, Roy, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins all on a microphone. The orbits were really tight back then and those guys were close.
Another great reaction by you, Sarah!! Roy was one of the greatest vocalists of all time and apparently he was universally loved by his peers. I would suggest his duet of this song with kd lang for your next reaction to The Big O!!
One of the best from my time. We were very fortunate to have such great music. Words you could understand, music you could dance to. Songs that just got to your soul...
I was 13 and in love with this man for his voice..lol...1966...we didn't have MTV or videos to reference..we were lucky to see guest appearances on variety shows..the radio and vinal records were our world of music... 🌿🌿🌿
Sarah you are such a wonderful woman. Your appreciation for music and your heartfelt reactions are the best. You yourself are a very beautiful woman. Your eyes, your smile are mesmerizing. Thank you for another reaction . Much love from Washington state USA
Hi Sarah! Roy Orbison is one of the greatest! Crying is one of his most recognized songs. I recommend reacting to " Roy Orbison and k. d. lang, The Tonight Show (December 7, 1987). Their duet is soo good! love your reations!! ❤❤
Now you showed the true way to appreciate a song. It's not just listening to the music, it's also listening to the message. He puts emotion into his music. Songs today do not have that anymore.
Roy introduced the world to the amazing k.d. lang and did this song in a duet with her which she went on to record herself and re-created it to a level even Roy would have been proud. Catch her live version at the Roy Orbison Tribute show! Stunning!
I remember, in 1964 (I think), when I was 12 years old, I was watching 'Sunday Night at the London Palladium' on our little black and white TV set. This programme was live (and therefore time limited) and was the biggest show on TV in the UK. That night was special because The Beatles were the headline act, which went on last. The act before The Beatles on that show was Roy Orbison, and he had such an impact that the audience demanded repeated encores and curtain calls from him. The Beatles were in the wings on the stage and were getting agitated because the longer Roy stayed out, the shorter time they would have to perform. Eventually they acted and, as Roy was about to go out for another curtain call, they grabbed him and then went out themselves. Of course, it didn't affect the later relationship they had with Roy and they were mutually admiring of each other's talents. So much so that Roy and George Harrison later teamed up in the 'super group' 'The Travelling Wilburys'.
I had the extreme privilege of seeing Roy play with the Traveling Wilburys he was the highlight even with all the other stars on stage thank you lovely girl!🌿💔
Roy was the best! Great reaction to him, and his phenomenal voice! Listen to KD Lang’s tribute to him when she sings “Crying”……it’s unbelievable. Watch her live
Someone mentioned Roy Orbison with the Travelling Wilburys which was a group of friends that got together to sing. The members were Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne-mega super group!. Roy Orbison passed away shortly after recording Handle with Care with them. You will love that too! 👍👍
One of my favourite songs ever. Love Roy Orbison, so much good music. You might recognize 'Pretty Woman' from the movie by the same name which is his song. 💞
Just before pandemic kicked in I feel very privileged to have seen a holographic concert featuring Roy Orbison, and also Buddy Holly!! It was a surreal, but incredible, beautiful performance. You felt as if you could reach out and touch them
You should also check out Roy Orbison and Friends: A Black and White Night from Sept 1987, a year before he died. There are lots of videos of the individual performances on RUclips, including the entire concert. The friends accompanying him as backup musicians and singers include Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, KD Lang, and Bonnie Raitt. A few years later K.D. Lang performed Crying at a tribute concert. A performance that you should also check out. Here's the title of that video: k. d. lang - Crying - Roy Orbison Tribute 2/24/90 Universal Ampitheater
I came across your channel when you did a "First Reaction" to Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On". I was in high school, in the 1960's, during the time that both Marvin Gaye and Roy Obison were active. Watching you react took me back in time. Thank you, sister. May I suggest the Righteous Brothers' , "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' "
Great song! Roy Orbison had one of the most smooth powerful voices. He could sing real high falsetto & also low. Elvis Presley loved Roy's voice. Roy was known for performing while standing motionless & wearing black clothes to match his dyed black hair & dark sunglasses. Roy had lots of hits in the 60's such as "Running Scared", "In Dreams", "Love Hurts", "Blue Bayou", "Leah" etc. In 1988, he co-founded the rock supergroup "Traveling Wilburys" with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, & Jeff Lynne.
Apart from the sheer beauty of the song in it's own right, your reaction to these songs I love, also brings me to tears when you review it and how you react to it. I am sure many people also feel this.
Elvis and Roy Orbison often played the same venues in the same night. Elvis wouldn't go on stage if Roy O was on there, because he said his voice couldn't compare to his.
I really enjoyed watching your reaction and your connection to the emotion of the piece. I've seen that you've reacted to many of Roy's songs, but feel you've missed out on what might be his best. I strongly suggest you check out "It's Over" and "In Dreams". While he has many brilliant songs, I feel only these are at the same level of heart aching emotion as "Crying" which is really what Roy does best.
Awesome song; Sarah's awesome too, I really enjoyed watching her heart-felt reaction. (And it doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous, cute and beautiful.)🌹💃🌹
thank you, Sarah I am doing yardwork and I stopped to take a break and listen to your reaction and my goodness. I don’t know why you always make me cry.. lol. I think I feel music the same and it just has that effect and I want to thank you so greatly for all of your reactions. I think you are wonderful. Happy Friday here in the US
Roy and K.D Lang sang this song together, then she did it on her a beautiful version that will bring tears to your eyes. You should listen to it! She did it as a tribute to him!
There was a time when men and women really loved each other so deeply. I wonder what happened. its not like that anymore except for older folk like myself.
Roy Orbison was part of a super group called The Million Dollar Quartet. Elvis,Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins were the other members also sometimes Jerry Lee Lewis. You should look them up and listen to them sometimes
You need to watch him sing live. There are numerous videos from his "Black & White" concert , with a star studded band. Stars like Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello and Bonnie Raitt and K.D. Lang join him.
The unmistakable voice of Roy Orbison. When you hear him sing, you know it's Roy. He was one of a kind.
RIP ROY
Elvis was once asked "What's it like, being the best singer in the world." His reply was,"I don't know. You'd better ask Roy Orbison."
Roy Kelton Orbison. NO-one but no-one does heart-break and despair like the Big O. No-one like him before or after. An original. a voice without compare even back in the 50s and 60s . Pure talent! NO auto tune, no effects, just Roy.. All voice!
The day it was announced that he had died, I was on my way to work. I had to pull over and cry. One of my all time favorites!
I had the once in a lifetime honor to see Roy Orbison in concert in 1986, he was simply amazing!

A song about the pain of unrequited love. Yes a timeless human condition and song.
Sarah, he is one of the greats and everyone in the business admired him so much. His music will never be forgotten.

Yes.
Singularly, the one voice that perfectly sings this, it’s almost primal.

When Roy Orbison sang, you knew you were experiencing something very special. Lovely reaction, Sarah!
No other voice like Roy's.
Roy was a great singer and songwriter, which he rarely gets credit for. Check out “walk on”. Great song from Roy.

Great singer and songwriter. You can not confuse him for anyone else. Pure vocals.

Not true. Due to mistakes in the band, one song had 34 takes.
