New Tie Rod Set from 1AAuto.com trq.video/ia-1...
The inner tie rod has a ball joint that can wear over time, causing a clunking noise, loose steering, and eventually, other problems with the wheel and suspension components. It’s a good idea to replace your inner tie rods as soon as you notice any of these symptoms. This video shows you how to replace the inner tie rods on your 2007-14 Ford Edge.

Video are excellent. Whenever I have to make a repair yours are the first I will watch.
I've been told that my 2014 Ford Edge needs new Tie Rods soon. I have CP and am pretty independent. So I figured I'd take a look at how these are replaced on RUclips. Even though you made it look simple, I don't have the flexibility or the tools to replace them myself. You may just have justified the price the dealer quoted me to have them replaced. Good video!
Thanks saved the time to find out off inner TRD is serviceable or not... And those side pliers are kickass
Very nice video. One minor quibble...forgot to tighten the jamnut to the outer rod end after installing 20 turns.
Alignment
The way you bent that cotter was insane
Thank you so much for all these videos
Right straight to the point!
Excellent video and very good explanation, thanks
Why didn't you crack the jam nut first??? works way better than dropping the tie rod end first!!!
Excellent video easy to follow 👍
Great video! Clean image and audio, also straight to the point, and very informative. If possible maybe throw in how long it may have took you? I do most work to my vehicles but my Edge is my main vehicle so time is key for me. Keep up the great work!
Can you put a link for the long pliers you used ?
Real pros use pipe wrenches to break jam nuts free! 🤣 I recommend using blue loctite on the inner tie rod.
Excellent video.
Probably better to just replace both inner and outer at the same time just to save on extra labor cost of doing it again when the outer wears out.
+DaytonCarCare Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Thank you for the video .
Quick question, what about the 4 flap lock washer? Having trouble with that bit, thanks!
Did you figure this out? Just starting this project and got to this point. Stuck.
@@AMD-dx6yz yes use a flat head and hammer to push it back
Good video. Would you suggest blue lock tight on the inner tie rod threads?
Yes
Dude you make Great videos. Tks Oh yea where did you get those NICE Locking Pliers BRO.
I was wondering the same thing about those locking pliers
9 months later but hes using a Bahco pipe wrench.
Do you really need to remove the rack and pinion? My garage quotes me 4.5 hours of labor and 1000$ total with parts. ford edge sport awd 2014
What are the name of those pliers/channel locks/vise grips lol absolutely love them name and store to purchase please
I believe I found them….. 142 universal pipe wrench ??????? Or harbor freight has one it’s called Swedish pattern pipe wrench it’s pretty close to the 142
Just picked up one today at local HF.....in preparation for use on our 2013 Ford Edge
Mitchell says to remove the steering rack to replace my inner tie rod on a 2010 Ford Edge. I was quoted $500 in labour to do it. Is this for FWD and AWD alike?
Is it normal i have fluid in the boot, lots.. even after i have changed the oring and seals
I love your videos. They have seriously helped me with so many repairs. Thank you!
So you do NOT need to drop the rack & pinion?
What kind of pliers are those ???
Does inner tie rod not have a torque spec?
Great video, thx!

Why did you 35 torque this tie rod end but in another video for the entire control arm you torqued the tie rod end to 110
Do you have to drop the rack and pinion to do the driver side? Shop quoted me $1100 for inners!!!!!
+Jarrett Hanson Thanks for watching. Buy the part in this video on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Hello great video, could you please tell me what make and model number of 90 degree locking pliers you used?
The video neglects to show the removal of the 4 flap washer and the need to heat up the thread lock on the inner joint.
You forgot to add more grease in the ball joint
Can anyone tell me how long this actually takes? Need mine done and the shop wants to charge 4 - 5 hrs for labor.
If you've never done it and are considering to attempt it then it will take you 4-5 hours or more to do it. That's how shops charge labor. In reality, an experienced professional could do this in 1-1.5 hours including the alignment afterwards. It's not that hard, but when you have a lift and the right tools and knowledge for the job it's pretty quick.
According to Alldata it takes 4.4, but that is to replace the entire rack and pinion assembly. normally yes it would be billed for 1-1.5 hours.. however according to my system it says the inner tie rod is not replaceable. it calls for the entire rack.
Couldn't get to that wire on a CX9, NO ROOM IN THERE.
Im in the same position. wth they put a damn bread tie on a tie rod? 🤧
Funny that it took the Ford dealership 2 weeks to do this
Take these off with pliers 😅 clearly you've never been to Canada and the nasty salt they use in Ontario 😢
Wish it really took 8 min lol
Uugghh I would have sprayed the nut on the outer one first and once the nut is loose run it up several threads that way if you accidentally hit the treads they r not rumors and where was your wrenches?????
He's flat rate , no doubt
