Way to go Justin! I’m guessing PA I’ve had the worst issues with hunter crowding in that state. You define what a true turkey hunter is…persistence, knowledge and a never give up attitude.
Nah man it’s a state south of us but PA is on my bucket list… I appreciate that man, I’m just like the rest of y’all, just crazy about the game… I’ve gained a lot of knowledge over the 20 plus years hunting them but I still learn something new every day I go out…thanks for watching 👊🏻
Great calling Justin ! You gave him just enough to keep him coming , without intimidating the hen into taking him away ! Here in upstate S.C. most of our turkeys are GONE !
I have witnessed the repercussions of posting too much info on a video so I myself have learned from that and what it can do…but I’ve never gave away my exact location…now I’ve got to the point where I’m not even going to reveal what state I’m in anymore …even tho I have shot myself in the foot naming my channel Kentucky Hardwood Hunters 😂 I didn’t think about that when I created this channel many years ago… but those who watch my stuff know I hunt other states…. I have also seen where states are now paying RUclipsrs to advertise particular areas just to attract non residents for revenue and Im 100% against that…
@@stevehembree5699 that's funny you say that. Im in Tennessee and back in spring of '21 the TWRA contacted me on IG and asked me to film a video for them to advertise for more hunters. They paid but it wasn't what they gave THP. Idc tho cuz most of that new crowd isn't hunting like that anymore. Twra shot their own selves in the foot with that one if they're going to complain cuz they're still doing it as we speak.
@@stevehembree5699 They did show up where i live and hunt in Mississippi. The draw apps for the WMA they hunted NEAR went up 150% the next season. They hunted the National Forest next the the WMA is all and it done that kind damage. That has been several years and that particular WMA still gets twice as many applications as other WMAs in the state. Also, that WMA is far from the best place in the state to hunt, so they are 100% to blame for destroying opportunity there for the locals that depend on the place to hunt close to home. Our state had to take measures to limit out of state hunters out of self defense and as a traveling hunter myself, I hate to see that. I do see YTers (as this one) being more careful with screen grabs of onx and filming gates and driving down the roads, but we still have a long way to go. Times have changed, we have to adapt or we will all lose even more opportunity. As of right now, the future of turkey hunting on public land is bleak. Turkey is the new Elk

Been hunting public land for turkeys (mostly southern states) since 2004. Hunting pressure in several areas that has normally been very limited, has been extremely crowded over the last 4-5 years. And me and my buddy NEVER brag or tell anyone about our success or even the areas we hunt. At most, we may say what state we were in, but other than that, that’s it. Like it or hate it, I don’t think there’s any doubt that social media influence is a major contributor in that crowdedness.
I cannot disagree with you more..and I’ll be honest, I wish social media never existed … I created this channel 15 years ago way before RUclips got popular just to have a memory vault of my hunts with my pops… i did not realize it was going to become a big influence for the good and the bad.. I do believe it’s one of the reasons why hunting public land has become so popular… but there nothing we can really do about social media cause it’s always gonna be there… from here out I have decided to not name the state I’m hunting in and I’m hoping other hunting channels will follow suit.. thanks for watching

Got invited to go down to a friends in western kentucky hoping to get out opening morning. I hope i dont find a crowd like tht though haha 😅 good video sir!
A good way to alleviate the pressure is to reserve opening day or week for in state residents only. Kinda like what most hunting clubs do. Apply to Deer and Turkey. Probably make things a little safer as well.
I’ll hop on board with anything that will save a bird and help the pressure on public even if that takes away opportunity for myself. The sad thing is, it’s all about money and if the state will lose money then it will not happen…
@@Hogmister11 we deal with extreme pressure in our area as well. We live minutes from the Bankhead National Forest here in NW Alabama. We have noticed our Turkey population drop off. They have started limiting the number that can be taken from the forest. Also a stop time. We used to could hunt till dark. Hopefully it will help get the numbers up.
Ky will never stop out of state hunting! Send me the money! Hunted turkeys for over 25 years and the pressure is unbelievable! Going out west next year
@@Hogmister11 those old 2 strokes are great, it’s either air or fuel issue causing no start, I started putting my motor away with true fuel mix “ Northeast we don’t use boats in the winter, it’s amazing how a small crack or pin hole in the vacuum system will cause no start
Yeah it’s been a good one… I’ve been having another issue with it lately tho… it runs good for about 10 minutes then it just bogs down and starts missing… I’ll shut it off for a minute then it runs fine for another 10 minutes but does it again… maybe a bad coil …
