Thanks! Hours of research, spending time on the Defender, and knowing our priorities & needs do pay off :)
I like your paint on the holes trick, very good
A useful idea :) hope it helps and makes the job a little easier 👍
Very impressive frankly - you’re a great team 👌
Thanks a lot!
Brilliant. I have so many ideas for the build I need to do for my 17 year old daughter ready for her grand tour of Europe next year. 😫Keep up the good work. Really impressive and more so becuase of the way you work together. 👍
Thanks! Very nice for helping your daughter in here project. Hope you'll find good ideas in what we share :)
Great stuff! I’m planning on converting my old Ninety into a camping wagon so when the time comes both my daughters can go and explore.
Well done! Continue to follow with great interest.
Thanks!
Whow, this looks amazing. Great build, love the Alu build construction! Greeting from sunny Netherlands
Thanks! Greetings from tropical heat switzerland :)

On fait du mieux qu'on peut en se focalisant sur nos besoins et notre future utilisation :) Merci!
@@offtrackfamily 👍👍👍
Quel beau et bon travail ! Mieux que des professionnels.
Félicitations à tous les deux.
Michel
Merci!
I think all of your subscribers should club together and buy you a workmate bench 😊
😁
Looks professional, do you have concern for heat with all the electronics under the seats? Heat as in the electronics overheating and not working properly.
Thanks! Not too much concern about low air flow or overheating for accessories placed behind back seats because we had almost everything placed there in our previous build. Our previous setup was all wood and was higher behind the seats so I feel less air flow than now.
Nice neat job 👍
Thanks!
As someone who built a similar 80/20 frame in a Toyota 4Runner and 50k miles later, I had 6 of 8 hidden corner connectors (seen at 2:23) fail. That said, while the extrusions supported might withstand the off-road torsion those floating and only held together by hidden corner connectors likely will fail over time. Otherwise, it's a great choice and looks awesome.
Thanks for your message and sharing what you experienced with similar type of setup. Good to know, might see if we need to secure differently the parts between them. Did you use loctite? We are planning to do the last fixing with loctite.
@@offtrackfamily Only the ones floating. I replaced them with the external inside corner brackets, despite the plane in which installed. The failures were all in the same place of the hidden corners that being at their weakest point, the corner itself as the offroad torsion is too much. On the other hand, while the inside corner brackets' weakest point is also at its corner the width of the bracket tolerates greater torsion. Hope that helps. Sometimes simplicity is best. The others that are supported will hold well. Enjoy.
@@offtrackfamily We used the same type of profiles for our roofrack but fot the 90degrees angle connections we used this webshop.boikon.nl/webshop/bevestigingselementen/hoekstuk-30-x-30-basic/ The roofrack ss in place for a few years with a lot of offroad travel - no problems and I think far more robust the your hidden corner connectors. See also our build instagram.com/p/BpPa6Zzi3-8/
Thanks for sharing this!
@@offtrackfamily No I did NOT use Loctite as the standard T-nutz locks themselves. I have found 1-2 loose but I never remember if lose from shaking loose or because I forgot to tighten them initially. On the other hand, I have found the hidden inside corners do come loose from use and those would benefit from Loctite but I always forget to apply the Loctite. Forgetfulness, comes with getting old.
Great work done.
Cheers. 🍷&🍺
Thanks! 🙂
Looks awesome !
Thanks :)
Ahah you guys are going to rent a workshop in no time. Always a great feeling of accomplishment to do things by ourselves. Those profiles are super handy and look pro. Are you covering with plywood then ?
Haha no cheap with high enough ceiling workshop around our place ;) we will add wood but with carpet to avoid rattling and slippery surface.
Thanks for the inspiration. What is meant by 80/20 TSlot? I understand, you fitted 30x30 Bosch resp. Item profils, with slots at all 4 sides?
Yes 30x30 aluminum profiles and we replaced all the T slots fixations (what holds together all the alu bars) with corner ones because the T clearly didn't withstand the shaking of offroad and simply driving on road. It added weight but at least it hasn't moved since then.
Hello ! Nouvel abonné j'aime beaucoup le contenu de vos vidéos et le Def est juste magnifique. Tout de bon pour la suite !
Merci et bienvenu sur la chaîne!
L’armature de votre habillage inte, merci
Excellent work with the build! Very inspiring as I'm re-building the rear in my car as well now.
I am very impressed you manage all the work on the Defender out on the parking, in front of the house. Not an easy task without a garage. Lot of time for getting started, and ending removing all things and tools every evening. Good work!
Where do you usually buy tools and material? Locally, or online?
Thanks for the message! Not an easy task to do everything on the car park but no choice ;) depending on the tools, either online or local shops.
Where did you guys get the 8020 aluminium profiles from if you don't mind me asking ?
We bought them from www.systeal.com/fr/
Amazing thank you !
@@offtrackfamily did it come as a kit or did you have a template or plan to base your build on? Looks great and very solid without much weight. I would love to build something like this.
The drawer as base was important for us to be able to store most of our tools. Then it was hours of measurements and brainstorming. We wanted something more easy to remove and to use than our previous setup.
@@offtrackfamily thank you. would you be happy/able to share your measurements?
Hello!
Love the build, especially the 80/20 profiles in BLACK. Super-cool! Did you order all the parts in the kit pre-cut, or did you have to cut all the pieces to length? I didn't see a saw in the video. Very nice work!
Hi, we measured and ordered all parts cut to size. I must admit it was a little stressful because we could have had it all wrong.
Great build, I like it. How did you realize the flaps (made of multiplex?) from above in the lying surface? What do they rest on with the aluminum profiles? Did you use multiblocks? And where are the hinges?
Are you talking about the sides of the ARB drawer that make a flat bed on which we have built our layout with the aluminium profiles? If yes, they are included in the ARB drawer system and are fixed, no flaps. This drawer is specifically made for Defenders.
No. I am talking about the top of the aluminum profile construction, that is, the lying surface. This is made of plywood covered with felt, right? How do the plywood panels lie in or on the aluminum profiles? How are they attached?
@@simonkrebs1283able ah okay, yes plywood with marine carpet glued on it. They aren't fixed. They are simply lying on 8 small steel flat brackets (2 per sides) fixed on the under part of the aluminum profile. We remove them by pulling on the flat locker that is on the top. there's no rattling because it's a super tight fit.
@@offtrackfamily great, thanks for the explanation
I’m really interested to see how you guys make this work with a family of 4.
All in all it'll be very similar to the previous setup we had for 10years. Kind of a 2 bedrooms or bunk beds setup :)
Looking good
Any plans to install solar ?
Thanks! Yes 3 solar panels on the future popup roof :)
Bonjour, auriez vous l’amabilité de me dire ou avez vous trouver les profilés en aluminium pour fabriquer la 4:53
