Well done, I am following you on Facebook and RUclips and your videos are inspiring me. Keep the good work and all the best to you guys.
Thanks for the message! :)
Absolutely brilliant. You hit the nail on the head concerning Instagram "camper build" photo's. Only for show, they could never work practically
Thanks! I feel most of them are okay for road use and campsites stops but rare are those made for several days of offroad/ offgrid exploring. Some are really appealing but not okay for families for example.
Thanks for another great video, keep them coming. Greetings from South Africa !
Thanks for the message :)
A small vehicle adds flexibility. If you need to take a break from “roughing it” you can always stay in a hotel or Airbnb for a few days to shower, get good food, wash clothes, etc.
I agree, way more convenient to have a "small" 4x4 setup staying at regular car size. It's often what we do during our longer holidays when I get fed up of not having a real bathroom with hot water 😜
I agree with all at 99%, some fancy stickers than add 10'000 HP or make offroad simple I really need! ) ... I did not notice if you have a fire extinguisher, if you think a co2 that saves electronics or a classic powder? I was oriented on a "MAUS XTIN" type (money permitting I take 2 for my rig, one side under the driver seat, the other behind the tailgate)
😄. No fire extinguisher for the moment but yes it's on our list. Don't know yet which one as haven't looked up on that topic.
Another great informative video. Not considering over landing at the moment but have recommended your channel to one of my daughter's to inspire her to start thinking of an interesting way of visiting me driving from NZ to Scotland 😀
Thanks! Oh that would be a great trip with a nice goal to reach :)
Nice to see families enjoying and teaching nature to kid's.
Please, make sure to implement some security measures for the family when out on the road.
Alot going on in the world and ALTHOUGH, parents want to protect their young one's, they negate, letting tbbem jjnow the truth about the world.
Thanks! Security = being aware of most dangers. I agree, kids need to be informed to remain conscious of there environment (human & nature). Ours are, hope others too :)
Tools, spare parts, water and extra fuel are the most important things to carry with you. Don´t be scared - be prepared.
I agree! Being prepared is also important, by knowing the vehicle and how to use everything plays a role in enjoying exploring without stressing out if something happens.
Michel
Merci Michel pour ce message! 🙂
It's looking better every time you make a video can't wait to see the final congratulations for both of you guys nice work 👏👏👏👏
Thanks! 🙂
Looks owsome. Cant wait to se it finished.
Cheers. 🍷&🍺
Thanks! Cheers 🍻
Very informative and i fully agree with you on the 3 main points. My defender build (which is still in progress) will also be very practical more than pretty. I do have less budget to spend than yours, hence using cheaper products (eg China Lifepo4 batteries instead of Victron) but overall still function great. I also like to keep a stealth presence so that i can go anywhere, park anywhere without attracting too much attention. Keep us posted on your build progress. Can't wait to see the final results :)
Thanks for the message! Awesome that you're also in building process and already know what are your priorities 👍
@@offtrackfamily Perhaps you could do a short video on the list of tools / parts you take along for a newbie like me 🥰
@@ianchewyy this will come when we'll put back everything in the car, but later on this year as we need to finish almost everything before doing so :)
Great video again, congratulations with the build. Greetings from hautes Nendaz (Wallis) Switzerland 🇨🇭💪👍
Enjoy your stay in Valais!
Hi, I’ve just discovered your channel, great content. I’m in Australia and have subscribed. Safe travels
Thanks and welcome! 🙂
Learning fro you, thanks
🙌🙂
Absolutely love all of your videos and what you're doing with your Defender.. my idea is to build it forever so that takes a lot of thinking in order to do it right, and if you have to go back and do it again so be it ..You are A great inspiration in your build. Thank you For sharing your family's journey.
Thanks a lot! We're also trying to make a build that'll be great for now and also later when kids won't want to continue traveling with us. Loads of thinking is involved!
Just found you guys, and became a subscriber right away. I'm upgrading my Land Cruiser HJ60 atm, and it's going to be a long but enjoyable process. You've given me some good ideas! Also, I like your overlanding thought process / philosophy.
Thanks a lot for the message and welcome 🙂
Great job , have what suits you , to hell with everyone else . Your needs are what’s important, I have a Freelander 2 that has to be my every day driver carrying 2 adults and various grand children , so my conversion has to be removable . It wouldn’t suit anyone else but it works for me
Enjoy your time with your kids , they will be gone before you notice 👍
Exactly! All builds are different and it's great to them all to get ideas and applying them to ones priorities. Thanks!
Another great informative video on your build set up . And interesting views on over landing in general . Thanks again for sharing your wonderful journey of over landing life . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. 👍🏼
Thanks Steve! 🙂
I agree, bring tools! I bring even my drill with spare batteries! Never know!
Haha we do too! 😁
@@offtrackfamily we just had to use our drill and deep sockets when one of the vehicles blew out its tire on the trail last weekend!
Looks like a very sound build - congratulations! It seems you and your husband are both into fitness - maybe a topic for another video, but what are you taking with you to stay fit during your trips? Running gear, weights, kettle-bells, skipping ropes etc.. Great to see the fantastic new electrical build.
Thanks a lot for the message! Haha yes, lot of sports for my husband, a little less for me ;) sure would be happy to share this but you might be disappointed as it's very minimal what we take when we travel (meaning only elastic bands & a mat) 😄
The build is coming along great! Do you bring axel/jack stands with you along with your tools? A lot of jobs require these as it is not very safe to work under a jack alone. I am trying to decide if I need to bring them with me but they take up so much space!
Thanks! The list of tools & spares & accessories for maintenance is quite long but gets you out of most "stupid" bad situations. Yes we had one stored in our previous setup and will need to find a place in the next one :)
OTF. Great summary of your truck which is suitable for the northern hemisphere in our western society ! Is a new 'Defender' on the cards as a second vehicle to make an addition or replacement of this fleet dear ? V.
Thanks! No additional 4x4, it's already a lot of work to focus on 1 vehicle 😄. But the day we need to change or are fed up with this one, we might go for something different.
Another great video! Thanks! One question: Do you still have 285/75R16 wheels on your Defender? What rims? Thank you, BEN
Thanks! Still have same size mud tires but BFG now and they look a little smaller. Rims 8x16
Is the defender your only vehicle?
It's my husband's everyday car and I have another car.
👍👍👍
Thanks!
Reliable Defenders… 😅
Haha! Yes we have a reliable Defender ;)
Just added them again. Let me know if all good this time
Hello, I just want to say that you are great and inspire me with your videos, keep it up.. do you have an account on Wikiloc? thank you.
Thanks a lot for the message! Nope, no wikiloc account.
