Katie, I truly enjoy seeing the younger generation getting involved in restoring things of another time. Your truck has a history and could definitely tell some stories if it could talk. When you're finished with her, you will have something you can be very proud of ❤😊
Always good to “know a guy” and super rare that he’ll let you work alongside and show you a thing or two. Great guy! Great truck! Great video! Great you😊 💛
Katy, if this isn't a southern thing, i don't know what is!!! Being in a shop watching, helping and learning. The most wonderful times i spent with my dad was when he was working on something.
You go girl! Props to a young lady taking the time to learn and following through. As a female myself, I always had that interest and worked on my vehicles when I was younger. 66 now. Saved money that way and would apply my knowledge to other mechanical machines like lawn mowers, weed trimmers etc. Thanks for sharing and can't wait to see the finished product!
Katie, you are one of a dying breed, a true Renaissance woman! There is always something new and interesting to watch with you in the fold. Cheers from PEI Canada!
A bit over 3 years ago, I bought a "99 F350, Super Duty, 4WD, crew cab from my friend's father's estate in Central Oregon, which is cattle country. It had sat in a fenced-in storage field on the property for about 2.5 years. Immediately changed the oil, bought 5 tires (spare was 21 years old), and drove it home. Then, I proceeded to redo the entire top end of the V10, replace all the consumable parts, new AC compressor, condensor & dryer, all-aluminum radiator, coolant reservoir, fan clutch, upgraded the suspension & brakes, Gibson headers (Stage 8 fasteners, Remflex gaskets), SPD Y-pipe, Gibson side-exit exhaust, fuel pump & all flex hose, axle bearings & seals. Then, I pulled all trim & glass, re-did the headliner, stripped the truck,Line-X bed liner, and the truck got a new base/clear paint job. We even re-finished the Warn bumper/winch combo. The interior was deep cleaned, installed a head unit with navigation & back up camera, higher end speakers, a scanner, and replaced the auxiliary lights with LEDs. I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple details. Is it perfect? Nope, but it's nice, respectable, reliable and capable. Best of all? Not counting my labor, all totalled, I'm out about $20k cash. Not to mention, I know about every inch of it. I totally support your efforts & commend you. PS- clean the frame & John Deere sells an excellent chassis paint
I'm always impressed when women get involved with their vehicle. I myself am a self taught mechanic, I maintain my daily ride, a 61' CJ5. In a previous life I sold cars, I know the pitfalls of carrying a car note, not to mention older vehicles are simpler and have much more character. There's a deep satisfaction when you finish and look at your project with complete pride because you did it yourself. And a good mechanic is fewer and far between these days, I listen to the old timers advice as it's worth its weight in gold. Sweet truck, love the color!
That was beautiful work. Glad it's coming together for you. It's great that you're workiny with an expert. A good mechanic is worth his weight in gold.❤❤
It’s so much fun restoring an old vehicle. A long time ago I helped restore a 73 Camaro. Basically like you are doing, from the ground up, but we had to drop an engine in cause ours the block was cracked. It was beautiful when we were done. Plus we dropped a 350 corvette engine in it. We did it to give to our daughter for her first car. Super nice. Fun to drive. 😊❤😊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Awesome job Katie! So cool that your friend is helping and teaching you and letting you help rebuild your truck. Looking forward to more videos as you do more work.
so glad to see you learning----did same with my daughter----not to make her a mechanic like me but to appreciate making something you can enjoy and learning how to do things outside your comfort zone .as time goes on you will be so happy knowing ---I did this and have learned how this thing works and may be able to tackle what life hands you !!!!!!!! so proud of the life you and your family share ----may GOD continue to bless you all-------and believe we are blessed by what you share !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miss Katie, you've got an awesome connection with your friend, it's hard to find folks anymore that are willing to help others out. I've never charged anyone to work on their cars, they try and pay but i dont accept just a handshake or a hug is enough payment for me. And that thing is called the steering knuckle but I'm sure you already know this by now. Your truck will amazing when your finished although Ima Ford man, lol. God Bless and Be safe.
I am so stinkin proud of you my friend! I got to actually see these trucks new. My Daddy had a long bed. What you are learning is invaluable. I have always loved older vehicles and tractors and loved helping my Daddy work on them. ❤
Me too. I mean, I love older vehicles. Anything that doesn’t have all kinds of bells & whistles. My papa used to let me borrow his truck, which was from 2001, & I loved it. Sadly, his truck bit the dust 2 years before he passed. I would have been honored to have it. Silver lining? I was able to inherit my mama’s car, which helped me help Dad, after his truck pooped out (he then decided to stop driving). Ok, I’m done going down memory lane. 😁 Thanks for bringing back some nice memories!❤
That was so cool! I love repair videos, and I hope that you will keep doing these as the work goes along 😀 Thank you so much for taking us along, I really enjoyed this 🙂
I'm listening to this and thinking "Well these Pressleys pretty much raised up a couple 'dream women' (unicorns, lol) from perspective of most men. You're capable, you genuinely enjoy a lot of the things men enjoy, you work hard, and you're beautiful. Dream girls for a mom (which I am) and dad too, as you're responsible, you work hard, you're Godly, and so sweet (spicy too, we've been here a while lol). I love your truck Katie! 🙌🏼 💞
you go girl!! I used to enjoy working on my vehicle too, so understand the satisfaction of seeing it all come together. My youngest (52yrs old) son is the same and loves the old Chevy's too. Thanks for sharing this interesting video Katie.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you fix up your truck in a Real Garage ! Not some TV Show Garage with a black and white polished tile floor and a boat load of shiny hipster tools ! Lol! That Ole Boy working on your truck is the real deal! I just spent 7 days repairing rust damage on my step daughters Chevy Cobalt ,even melted down the main wiring harness and had to fix that after frame repair was done ! I think you may have a future in Auto Repair ! You can apprentice under the Square Body King and leave the Rock Shop as a hobby ! Seriously ,you done good and your old truck is ten times better than the junk they are making now with paper thin laminated frames and 60 k Dollar Price Tag ! God Bless ,loved the video!
I really enjoyed this video. I’m not a mechanic by any means, but I do appreciate working on something that matters to you. It’s like sewing which I do, I appreciate, making something yourself instead of paying for someone else to do it for you.
Katie, you are really fortunate to have a friend who is willing to help you with this truck project. Having someone who will share their knowledge and experience (as well as their shop and tools) is a blessing. I appreciate your willingness to pitch right in and get your hands dirty on the project. Your gonna learn so much about the mechanics of the vehicle and yourself. You are demonstrating your determination to learn and accomplish new things. These lessons are made easier by having someone beside you to show you the way, avoiding major mistakes and costly boo-boo’s. Best of luck with the project and please keep us informed of your progress. - Tennessee Smoky
Y’all are giving your truck many more years of service. New vehicles and used ones on dealership lots are super over priced! Most folks can’t buy them. Smart gal to replace old parts on your truck. It will serve you well. That mechanic is top notch! Love to you and family.
You are awesome you are the type of people I grew up around in a time when you done things on your own. I’m now in my mid 60’s how times have changed well maybe not time changed just people you can be proud of your self.
Katie I'm So Happy for You that Your Getting Your Truck fixed Up.. those mechanical things are NECESSARY & Other Work is Helping to Perserve a Great Vehicle.. NO VEHICLE TODAY OR the past um teen yrs. Is made Like the Older Vehicles..
I'm amazed at how much you know about auto mechanics. Did you learn by watching your dad, did you study things on your own, etc. It's just so cool. I can't do anything like that. I can check my oil, that's about it ❤
I wish I knew more about cars and trucks. I drive a Ford F-150. It is my mid life crisis vehicle. No convertibles for me! That is really cool that your mechanic is letting you get in there and get your hands dirty!!! Great knowledge to have. That truck will be your baby.
I know absolutely nothing about vehicle work, so this was really neat to watch! So cool that you're helping the mechanic, Katie! Can't wait to see your truck once the work is all completed! God bless you!
Very few people would go through this much repair/upgrades on an old truck so kudos to you. After that much effort you have a relationship. I went the other way with my truck (2003 F150) Installed a lowering kit with 20" wheels/tires.
I'd have fun doing this as well. Super great of your mechanic friend to teach and help you learn these valuable lessons on how to work on your own vehicle! That truck's going to look great, I don't care for the look of new trucks.
Good job Katie - I'm proud of you and it's wonderful when the older generation passes on the knowledge they've acquired through years of hard work. Your truck is coming along and looking good! So self-satisfying when you can look at your truck and feel good about what you've been able to do. I would ask that you wear safety glasses for future hammering with an impact gun or actual hammer, especially on metal that's been heated up with the torch. They are super cheap from Home Depot and make for a good insurance policy to protect your eyes. Mine saved my eyes on more than one occasion.
It is wonderful that you are learning how to fix and fix up your truck. Those are wonderful skills you are perfecting and what a treasure your truck is. My son is currently driving a 2000 GMC Sierra that was my dad's, Papa and Grandma drove them around in that truck when they were little needing car seats. I want to take care of this truck just like you are doing with yours. My dad was not a sports fan at all, his hobby was fixing things- probably mostly to save money, but still - he did all the mechanic work and taught my brothers and my husband and tried to teach me when I would listen. I wish I had listened and learned more from him about cars, seeing your friend work with you reminds me of how my dad would work with us. (But I wanted him to have on protective eye wear/shield when he was doing what looked like the welding part 😧.) That is a true treasure too, the ones like your friend, and my dad too. He always told me "if you are gonna drive a car, you need to know how it works!" As usual, he sure was right! When you are finished with each new project on the truck what a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that will be for you! That is really wonderful!
Wow, good for you!! Honey, I remember the days when I used to have to work on my own car when it broke down!! I remember being 17 and 18 years old dreaming of the day when I could afford to have somebody else change my oil! I grew up around cars so I did learn some mechanics. I like the fact that you like a lift kit, and don’t like the tiny tires! That really does look stupid! I can’t wait to see the finished project! What you guys worked on so far looks really, really good!
I'm so impressed with how much you know & can do on vehicles. I had a co-worker once who could do all sorts of mechanical work on her car. It was awesome & educational to hear her talk about the things she could do. Looking forward to seeing more work on this great truck! Hugs!
Oh, Katie! You're my kind of gal. Loving to fish; loving to garden; loving to work on vehicles; I've done it al (I'm 83 now). I fixed up an old Dodge pickup into a flat bad about 45 years ago, so I could haul feed for my cow! But that's another story. God bless you! Way to go!!!
Thats a nice old chevy truck katie, glad to see you restoring it,thats a nice camaro you driving the other day,i love those old cars, i got a 1967 ford fairlane lije to restore someday, thanks for the vedios, i wish i could see you play piano, allways liked them lol
Fascinating! I have a 21yo Jeep Wrangler in very good condition with only 88k miles on it. I keep getting asked if I will take it off-road with a Jeep group but I don’t have the knowledge or know how to fix what WILL get broken out there 😂. This type of man amazes me…almost like a surgeon or something. It takes such skill and know how.
Thanks Katie, as a kid I wanted to be a mechanic (Military stopped that). I spent most of my School vacations in a service (gas) station workshop. This is tops to see, the "gas axe" and rattle gun. Hats off to your Tutor, these great and honest mechanics are a blessing to find. Look forward to the final reveal. :)
It's cool to see a female that was raised like I was. All my life I would help my dad work on vehicles, hang sheetrock (drywall), mow, weed eat, and anything else he would be doing. He always said his girls would not have to depend on anyone for anything. He passed away a little over a yr ago. I miss him terribly.
Katie your pretty Amazing there sweet girlie!! So very cool your learning this stuff he's so nice to help you and teach you this I love the truck love the ole' one's love you sweetheart hugs to everyone ❤ 🤗💥🙏💥
Wonderful learning new skills and appreciation of skilled craftsman mechanics. So few know the inner workings and difficulty of major engine overhaul. Appreciate the time and teaching of a good mentor..
Katie while you have it on the lift I would change the differental fluids, transfer case and transmission. Glad you found a mechanic that can help you he will have all the tools you will ever need. Love those square bodies!
It's great to see the Ladies putting their Hands on Machinery. Glad you found a local business to help you, Katie much respect. Thanx for sharing, great job.😃
Wow now that you're experienced he can come and help me finish restoring my 73 C20 thing is mine has eight leaf-spring about twice as heavy as your good job girl
Katie that is SO awesome you are learning all this mechanical stuff. My husband taught me also how to change out stuff on my 70 Nova even changing out the engine etc. Between your biz and now learning all this. You are a complete success in life wanting to learn. Keep on learning different thing's in life Katie. Knowledge is power!
Katie, I truly enjoy seeing the younger generation getting involved in restoring things of another time. Your truck has a history and could definitely tell some stories if it could talk. When you're finished with her, you will have something you can be very proud of ❤😊

There is nothing like restoring a classic vehicle. ❤❤❤
What a kind and patient gentleman to share his knowledge like that.❤
That was beautiful work. Glad it's coming together for you. It's great that you're workiny with an expert. A good mechanic is worth his weight in gold.❤❤
Love those models. Looking forward to seeing this finished
It’s great you are interested in vehicle repairs
Most drivers ( men included) can’t even change a flat tire.
Bravo to you and your mechanic.

Special relationship between a girl and her truck. Make it your own. Lot of hard work but worth it.
As I’m watching you talk, I’m praying you won’t lean back on that wasp. I Love older pickups too… Very nice of that gentleman to help you out.
She’s a Christian, She fishes, she cooks, she walks creeks, she loves square bodies, she honors her mom and dad. This girl is a catch boys!
Love the truck and thanks for allowing us to be a part of this journey. Can’t wait to see more!
I love your old truck, Katie, and that's so cool that you're willing to do a lot of the work yourself! God bless!
Thanks for sharing! That's awesome you guys got alot done! Glad you had time and a good fella to help!
Excellent video Katie! My wife and I hope that you'll create more videos showing the square body transformation in the future!
Awesome job Katie! So cool that your friend is helping and teaching you and letting you help rebuild your truck. Looking forward to more videos as you do more work.

That's a nice old truck. All your hard work will make it all the better. You have good mechanical instincts. Have a blessed day.

Very cool! Thank you for bringing us along Katie! Can't wait to see it on the road.
You're right--not a lot of rust under there. Looks almost ready for another installment of DITS!

I'd have fun doing this as well. Super great of your mechanic friend to teach and help you learn these valuable lessons on how to work on your own vehicle! That truck's going to look great, I don't care for the look of new trucks.
AWESOME JOB MISS KATIE YOUR WORKING WITH ONE OF THE BEST MECHANICS IN MURPHY LOOKING GOOD
love getting to see the progress. thanks for taking us along
Looking forward to seeing more of the rebuild.
It is wonderful that you are learning how to fix and fix up your truck. Those are wonderful skills you are perfecting and what a treasure your truck is. What a labor of love. Good job
Way to go, young lady, for taking the initiative, and with the assistance of this young man who's taking you under his wing 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

Love it! You are like me, and my oldest daughter we can do mechanical work on older vehicles. We are not afraid to get grease on our hands. ❤
Wonderful learning new skills and appreciation of skilled craftsman mechanics. So few know the inner workings and difficulty of major engine overhaul. Appreciate the time and teaching of a good mentor..

Katie, Can't wait to see the stance on your truck when it's back on the ground. Those old step side Chevys were some of the best trucks ever built.
