I own a 22 trailboss but I think the new body style is the ugliest truck chevy has ever made but I still love my truck even though it look like chevy and toyota made an illegitimate love child 😂... but I think all new body style trucks look like 💩 and they are made cheap and not built to last like they used to be they all need to step up the quality control and stop making the interiors out of cheap plastic the dash in my trailboss feels like if I toss my sunglasses up there it would crack the dash
I have a 21' Z71 with the 3.0l diesel. Added a lift kit and 35" tires. I'm still less than $50K for all of that, and I wouldn't trade it for either of those trucks. That 3.0l is so good. Better torque, quicker, better fuel mileage, etc. For the 99% of people that buy these trucks, they don't need a front or rear locker. The automatic locking rear works just fine for any Chevy I've ever had. The prices of these new trucks is also through the roof now. I thought $42.5K was a lot when I bought mine, but over $70K just a few years later is crazy.
The ZR2 is still around 6k more than a similar equip trail boss its worth it I think but I went with the trail boss because first there was no ZR2 available at the time and yeah 6k is a bit of money for something I probably won't need. I do some offroad and the trailboss does it well enough for me.
The trail boss is midnight edition which is why it's the same price as the zr2. I would go for the zr2 since the trail boss would depreciate faster than a zr2 (GM only made a certain amount).
@@AlejandroDuran-ix4ye My Trail Boss also has red hooks. You can get a lot of different options on the Trail Boss to either increase or decrease the price to something that makes sense for you. I personally didn't pay anywhere close to what a ZR2 costs for mine and got MANY of the same options the ZR2 has.
I bought a 22 limited 6.2L trailboss LT used 13,000 miles, paid $52,800 out the door. I've only had it for 6 months, but absolutely love it. I feel like i got a pretty good deal, despite what there going for now. Just put a super 44 muffler on it, and it sounds so good. So far, its a keeper.....
I'd still go with the Trail Boss. I don't live were there are any open deserts or Moab type areas, so the ZR2 isn't as useful. Love my 22' Refreshed 6.2l Trail Boss LT ! The ZR2 wasn't available at the time I purchased either.
Dang they want $70k now for a Trail Boss? I paid $55k for my blacked out 2021 Trail Boss with the 6.2. They want way too much for the midnight edition and the sunroof, apparently.
A lot of people claim higher fuel milage than whats quoted by Chevy. I found the opposite, down the highway I've managed around 22mpg on premium fuel in my old Trail Boss. Will be interesting to see what the ZR2 does.
What I noticed is that the 2023 Trailboss tire size 265 mm is much narrower than the original Trailboss which is 275mm, for me, I prefer the wider tire for the rugged sporty looks and smoother driving comfort.
I would think a similarly equipped trail boss would have better resale because the interior is nicer, it’s less money to initially depreciate, higher cost of ownership on the Zr2, and tires you can swap out really easily. Majority of owners will never utilize the off-road differences that make the zr2 ‘superior’ My opinion though, great video. I drove them and they’re legit very very similar when heavily equipped in the trailboss like you drove.
The 33s On The ZR2 Is More Aggressive Than The 20s On The Trail Boss,As A Matter Of Fact, Those 2 Off-Roaders Are Not Towing Machines,The 6.2L Big Boy V8 With A 10 Speed & A 3.42 Which Is A Max Tow Package Is In A Duel.
Can you do a comparison between the three motors Chevrolet offers in the truck. Obviously the diesel gets better mileage, but with diesel costing more per gallon is it actually cheaper to drive compared with the 6.2 or the 5.3?
Just too bad they all still have the DYNAMIC FUEL MANAGEMENT and the easy to rust issues many new Chevy owners have. Such beautiful machines but not without major drawbacks to the enthusiasts.
I looked at both as well when I bought my ZR2. The interior in the TB wasn't even close to the ZR2. That is what sold me. The TB even had a moon roof, but that really didn't matter to me. ZR2 all the way. And, I got the GM discount, and they gave me 5,000 over my loan on my old truck. Got off the lot for 62K with that ZR2. Was a no brainer to me.
The ZR2 also comes with memory seats I don't believe it's available on the Trailboss. I own a 2020 Trailboss and I like it. Like he said, price wise you're pretty off with the ZR2
Good review. How would you compare these trucks to the F150 Tremor? You said they’re more truck like but which do you prefer for V8 powertrain? 5.0 vs 6.2.
They are not that close to the same price, the trail boss you are using for comparison has more options than the ZR-2. Sunroof, midnight edition and multi flex Tail gate. The spread would be bigger if you ordered a trail without those options. Not sure about the numbers being used either, trucks must have increased since i picked up my fully loaded 22 Trail boss end of last December for 67k.
If wanting a Duramax it’s not an option for ZR2. I’ll take the Trail Boss with Duramax and purchase a better aftermarket suspension that would be better off than the Multi shocks.
I prefer the trailboss. Don't really like that zr2 cut out bumpers and no exhaust tips. Traill boss is best truck on the market right now lots of folks are buying them up even the customs
I personally love the Cutout it looks super aggressive.I bought a ZR2 had it 4 months now and paid 69K they have only gone up since then and will hold better value than TrailBoss. ZR2 is Fully Loaded and Suspension is Awesome its a fun toy for sure.I had a RST before and this truck blows that away.So many differences this video did not show.
Why discount the trail boss? It has higher towing and payload with slightly better gas mileage. For a 6.2 with over 400 pound feet, these trucks have pretty low capacities.
@@79random yeah. An engine can produce all sorts of power but the axles, tires and springs need to be able to deal with the stress. I imagine that’s why the ram 2500 with a 5.7 hemi can tow quite a bit more than the 1500 with the same engine.
"Plain old Jane Rancho shocks" lol ...bro. You clearly have a bias calling them that. Shocks that are on the normal Silverados are "Plain old Jane". Rancho is an upgrade from that. Not as good as the ZR2, but the way you describe them just shows how you are approaching this video.
I have a dilemma ar the moment I love the ZR2 design however no duramax option is a big downer for me. Now the Trailboss is a beautiful truck but the skid plates front are plastic and they rarely come with the multi tailgate sunroof option thats why most people go for AT4 GMC. Also, having said that california is pushing for electric vehicles and in a couple of years they provably going to ban emission vehicles. Therefore, I don’t know if buying a truck with such price would be smart at the moment. I think electric trucks are going to take the market and so far what’s your opinion on this matter? Also out of all the electric trucks the one that has caught my attention is the GMC but so far they haven’t even talked about off roading capabilities
As a aggressive as Cali may be you have at least 2 generations of vehicle cycles before you have to worry about an emissions ban. Think about legalizing marijuana. They had been talking about it for 30 plus years before it became legal
I have the ZR2 gas guzzler......9MPG pulling a snowmobile trailer. Trailer makes the back end squat like a cheap hooker on a rich client. Cushy ride - but fuel sucks...I would trade for a Trail Boss with the baby diesel. I made the wrong choice period. (or go back to my F250 diesel)
Why wouldn't you compare the 5.3L Trail Boss to the ZR2? 99% of the Trail Boss come with the smaller V8. I'm trying to choose between the two. This video didn't help.
The zr2 is still better I would go with the zr2 I would add air suspension with more mods, I hate the multi use tailgate, does the Zr2 have side mirror cameras is a video review mirror a opinion on the zr2
Id take a 5.3 gasser true it has its short Cummings but but hasn't every manufacturer fords interior will fall apart before the Chevy fords always have ac. AC issues after about 80 000 miles Dodge will have interior issues two plus they use the same transmissions in their Diesel 2500 which have issues so pick you're poison.
Well... Ideally, I would get the Raptor R or the TRX, but out of these 2, I pick the ZR2. Disappointing that Chevy didn't throw a supercharger in the ZR2 to compete with the other performance trucks.
If they Chevys are so bad how come you have to wait six months to buy a new one and can't find them used anywhere. They must be doing something right 👍. Also have have overtaken Dodge in sales figures facts don't lie.
Way overpriced!! Get the custom trail boss 2.7 and call it done! Mid 40s and you get a fantastic truck that can haul and tow and gets great Mpgs on the highway
It's never a value when someone takes a lower level trim and adds umpteen options to make it comparable to a trim offered with everything standard. Still, $3k for shocks nobody will ever utilize and lowers your trailering capability? No thanks. Good review on the trucks although I don't agree with the financials.
Who else remembers when GM used to do -$14k end of year clear out sales?
Ram still does it.
Gm and ford don't do it anymore.
Stop paying the ridiculous asking price and they will come back 😂
Classic Chevrolet it Grapevine TX has 12.5k off on select LTs
I found a dealership a few hrs from that has 15k off. 60k zr2 2024 1500 diesel. I want to get one

Silverado probably look the best compared to the other trucks, including the Tundra.
Factz! Nothing probable about it😎

Trail Boss because it can come with the diesel and a 6.5’ bed!

The ZR2 does just about everything better than the TrailBoss. It doesn't matter if the two are on an unimproved road or a sand dune.

If pricing is that similar than the zr2 is the way to go more bang for your buck. insane that $70k gets you a Silverado with a body lift (trailboss)

If you notice…the ZR2 has more leaf springs to beef up the rear end. It’s a real off road truck vs trail boss.
Yes. Getting it up is always fun.
