1500 Mile Great Lakes trip on a Ranger Tug. Day 6. Into the Apostle Islands.

- Leaving Houghton MI. I make my way out of the Keweenaw waterway and cross Lake Superior. After a few Hours I arrive at the Apostle Islands and start exploring on my Ranger Tug R-27 OB.
love the commentary, navugational screenshots and stunnigjn images. Apostles are #1 on my bucket list. Can you pick me up in Chicago/Lake Michigan? Ha Ha

Im glad you like the maps. I am still figuring them out so hopefully I can improve in the future. A boat tour wont be happening until spring/summer rolls around again. I don't currently have easy access to the boat in the winter but ill see if I can piece something together! until then its mostly a standard R-27 OB
how cold was the water ? swimming ?
NEVER! LOL the water temperature in the lake seldom reaches 55 degrees F
In the islands it usually gets up to 70-75° in the top 10 feet or so usually by mid august. Although still deep, compared to the open water of superior, the islands are much shallower and warm up much faster.
I did sit on the swim platform and stuck my feet in the water for a bit. it was too cold for me at the time, I kind of regret not just sucking it up and jumping in though!
