“No one has flipped the exhaust”. Cleetus and Jeremy laugh
Chris from B is for build out here doing that on his LS swapped lambo

Did ya hear Matt's in the Freedom 500.
It was obvious he was before cleet even said anything tbh

Matt: "I couldn't find anyone who has ever turned manifolds upside down."
Ruby the red C6 from Cleetus McFarland: "Am I a joke to you?"
But cletus routed the driver side down and around the engine and then both up on the passenger side, so even they didnt make it work

My humble Opinion: Don't fool around with the exhaust manifolds, go with the lower fires instead. Make short & fully open exhausts coming from the sides and fit them with fire kits, that will make a great show of fire and smoke from your burnout car.
Ale Vera I totally agree coz now he’s gonna have electrical issues
@@thomasroberts5658 Yup, that and an important loss of power. Exhausts systems must have some degree of resistance versus flow.
@@aleveraj you've got the right idea, but you actually don't want any resistance at all. So the reason your exhaust crosses over instead of being 2 separate systems is becuase it uses the exhaust gas from one side to help pull the exhaust gas out of the other. Your engine is just an air pump, the faster you can get the exhaust out the less resistance the piston and rotating assembly has to overcome to evacuate the exhaust the more power you make.

That LS2 with open header brought a single tear to my eye, everytime you start a LS with no mufflers a bald eagle is born
Hit up ole Cleeter McSkeeter! Him, James, and Coop are LS experts!
My bet is he wants to do it solo because his plan is to "compete" in the Burnout Rivals at one of the upcoming Cleetus and Cars.

Yo! Matt- SHORTY HEADERS. Lots a companies make them, they will bolt on. It would be a direct fit with little or no mods.
Summit has demolition derby headers that'll exit straight out the top for less than 200 bucks. Great and cheap way to make it
Call cleetus and James. They probably have some good extra parts laying around to make your c6 a ripper.
Hey Matt You need a line lock kit or disconnect the rear breaks.
Rear breaks create unnecessary load on motor and can start fires.

Personally I’d leave the exhaust turned down and run dual straight pipes to the front of the rear tires. It helps push the smoke out and will still be loud.
This 100%
Every burnout car in Australia has the pipes out the bottom helps push the smoke around.
And make it shoot 🔥
Flip the manifold sides so they’re facing forward and down, then build the exhaust with U’s to come out the hood. You’re gonna need those O2 sensors to get full power too.
Make a custom exhaust that comes out in front of the back wheels. That’s the only way to make a proper burnout car.
Jeep...the O2 sensors will put it into limp.
@@michaelcook768 eh depends on how the engineers did it. but an o2 is for emissions
15:00 YOU DONT HAVE A ROOF THEREFORE YOU DONT NEED AIR CONDITIONING

And sets them on fire neighbour style!
Yes! This!
The heat from the exhaust will catch the tires on fire looks cool but a fiberglass Corvette will go up like a match. Plus it makes for a short burnout
Hey Matt, I saw in part of the video that the car looked like it was rocking on jack stands a bit. I've run into similar and have actually had a car slip off the stands before. Now when I go under the car I always slide a tire under the frame rail in case it does slip off again, it never has since, but just in case! Also you should look into cribbing as a replacement of jack stands. They're much more sturdy and they're very easy to make. Stay safe!
Exactly, he needs 2 more jack stands and to put them in better spots.
Because the two he has at the front are too close together
10:27 he has a wheel under the frame
I might have missed it, but would just hate to see him get hurt over something still like that.

Hater pipe from roadkill
Kevin Skaggs just like neighbor
If you want the exhaust to exit the hood, I'd recommend headers over the stock exhaust manifold.
Headers is just another name for exhaust manifold no?
I thought the computer stuff on modern car's like this wouldn't allow it, but I dunno
Headers are tubular and flow better. Exhaust manifolds are usually cast and heavy.
Citizen None yes
@@rowdybroomstick1216 As long as he plumbs the O2 sensor back into the header it will.
Drill a hole, weld on the right size bung and thread in the 02 sensor so the computer can still get the exhaust temperature for air fuel ratio mixture calibration.

Maybe I’m silly, but can’t the welder guys just cut the mounts off, and weld pipe turned upward to the mounts?
Bone 3412 glad I’m not the only one saying the welding hits make some real quick. Day or two they would have it whipped
stoney4474 yeah I don’t know a ton about cars or welding... but it seems like a cut off wheel and 6 turned pipes would solve the issue. And then make them gradually longer front to back.... but I definitely could be wrong
i was thinking the same thing
It’s difficult to weld to cast, better off buying a mild or stainless steel header kit and starting from scratch
the problem is that cast iron(which those manifolds are made of) is really difficult to weld.

Wherever an O2 sensor is present, you need alteast 12-18" of pipe past the sensor so that fresh air does not affect the Air/Fuel ratio.
this plus the lose of the cat O2s will cause at least the engine light which would be lost power
noticed on the drivers side header it looks like the 02 sensor was right before the collector but maybe he just had it sitting there from taking stuff apart
@@CraftwerksMC still needs a few more inches of tubing. At 1500-2000 rpm at highway speeds, there isnt enough exhaust flow to keep wind from entering pipe

Matt, think about custom zoomie-style headers, just imagine eight pipes sticking out of the hood and spewing flames.
Nothing like high octane exhaust being fed into the driver.
I'd have them down and exit just behind the front tire, it'll still be insanely loud
And should shoot flames.
I said the same thing. Hahaha

you could still route vertical pipes up from behind the front tire, like tall stack truck pipes

MATT ARE YOU KIDDING CLEETUS LITERALLY DID THE UPSIDE DOWN EXHAUST ON RUBY GO WATCH THAT VIDEO BROTHER🇺🇸🇺🇸🤙🏼
Only on the passenger side he did. The driver side header points down and it goes underneath the engine and meets into the passenger side. Ruby has a Turbo on the PASSENGER SIDE.
ChambersofSiege you may wanna check the numbers again.
@ChambersofSiege Think before you post , Matt has close to 10 million subscribers .
What's a cleetus?
We did it custom and used four 2-to-1 headers. (Idk the technical numbering you'd give for the cylinders but 1-4 on driver side and 5-8 on the passenger with 4 and 8 being the rearmost cylinders) numbers 1, 3, 5, and 7 had almost a straight pipe up and out of the hood, then 2, 4, 6, and 8 had their pipe curve and join into the next pipe over (so 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&8). So 4 exhaust tips in total. we then wrapped the header in high temp insulating wrap from base to about 5" above the "joint" of the two pipes. I'm not sure if you'll save much or any on weight over using the stock 4-to-1 headers, but that's what we went with as the "hot rod" style we originally thought about doing would not work because of the doors and with no windows you'd go deaf in a heartbeat without enough ear pro. You still need ear pro with exhaust out the hood, but at least it's not deafening the driver and passenger in their ear closest to the exhaust tip.
Nasty sounding pulley... Cho: What’s that clickin’ noise... 😂🤣
9:40 and adding some fuel injectors into the headers!!!!! Maybe you just need a Chevy LS Custom header kit, so you can piece it together yourself! Get those welders to help you weld up the custom headers!

My idea: Get James out there from McFarland Fabricating...if Cleetus will loan him out for a few days.
Rumor round the camp fire is McFarland fab shop is legit AF.
12:48, Well, seeing there's no stopping you, what you need is a custom made set of headers to fulfill your plans.
And at that point there's no reason to keep the 4-1 headers, and just have straight bends out the hood, so there's 4+4 exhausts coming out the hood. That way you wouldn't even have to move the fuse box. Mighty Car Mods did a similar thing on a V6 in their ModMax build IIRC.
I'd think the guys who made the railing and steps in the Bunker 2.0 would do it easy and probably even make it to the event.

I hate to tell you Matt, but you actually want more weight in the back. The heavier it is the faster it makes smoke and the more smoke it makes. When we build competition burnout cars in Aus, we fill the rear quarters with concrete for the weight and also to prevent the rear tubs from being exploded by popping tyres.
