My old bunny stomps as a display of excitement. If i come near, he'll get really energetic, and if I give him attention, the stomping and binkying starts. I can't seem to find an example of this online or anyone saying that it has nothing to do with fear, annoyance, or being spoiled. I know for sure it's purely a habit of playful expression, but I don't know exactly how it started. It's not a bad habit as you mentioned either, because when I leave him alone, he doesn't continue to stomp for attention even if I'm in the same room and in view. He's 14 years old, so it's possible he gave up on bad habits that weren't encouraged but kept the temptation to stomp? Whatever the reason, it's adorable. (I know what his fear/pain stomping looks like and can tell the difference.)
My 8 month old bunny thumps when he’s happy excited too!! Also when he’s angry lol I thought maybe because he’s not neutered yet that he has a lot of hormones and too much energy but I actually have no idea. I think it’s so cute though I love when he does it !!

As cute as thumping is my bunny literally thumps at nothing, I can be laying in bed reading a book and he will be just chilling out, nothing will change in the room and he will just start freaking out and stomping his feet super loud, this only happens during the evening and I always just ignore him or just ask him what's wrong every time he does it, I dont get up I just call out to him from where I am, and when I do check out what's going on there's literally nothing wrong, but when I start talking to him he stops, he will stomp a few more times but the more I talk the less he does it. Then, RUclips suggested this video, and I clicked it right away as I was curious about the matter. You're so friendly, and I see you know rabbits very well. Thanks for sharing this curiosity about rabbits with us.

First time my rabbit thumped scared me. I was alone at night out in the country. At the time didn't know why she was thumping but got the idea probably something outside scared her. So I was a bit scared myself - possibly a bear was prowling. Fortunately, her cage was in the house with me.
When I was in middle school my rabbit would snort and thump at me when I got home from school and she would ignore me for a while. She lived in my bedroom and only liked me. This is an old post but just came across it and felt compelled to reply. My male rabbit does the same thumping and it annoys the crap out of me. I have 2 rabbits and one thumps if I show the other the slightest affection but more irritating is when I have to put him back in his hutch...he stomps then runs off and a long chase ensues around the yard (not for the faint-hearted) I feel like rabbit are more spoiled divas as some folks commented. I'm so over it!
While I've dabbed in rabbit breeding... I've decided instead to adopt after deciding breeding was... somewhat overwhelming (though at least people got pet rabbits out of it lolol) so I decided to keep just one... but she was one of the woooorst temperamental rabbits I ever raised (I ironically named her "Honnie" before realizing this)... I thought it might be because she had company and all of a sudden didn't, so I started adopting, and sure enough she mellowed out with other rabbits... though the first one I adopted is the grump of the group. I've seen her happy but she no like HOOMANs. Always thumps when I'm around. She has mellowed out more so that she's not aaaalways annoyed with me around but I'm guessing she just likes the company of other rabbits better, so she and Honnie get along quite well!
I heard a bang noise in my closet and when I opened it, my bunny thumped and her ears were very forward and a minute later she thumped again. Its weird how I was scared by the noise and so was she, but it wasn't loud or startling, it was just a weird noise that made no sense, and my bunny isn't scared of loud noises

Everytime I try to put my rabbit back into her cage she thumps 😂 it so cute but I feel bad cause I let her out to explore it's just whenever I have to put her in to go somewhere I put her in the cage she thumps 😂
So, in principle, thumping is a rabbit equivalent of expletive
Bunnies is my childhood pet it was so great and lovely
Demesticated rabbits use it as a no and I'm mad and how dare you. Plus fear and a warning.I have scared mine unintentially
BUNNY!!!! i like rabbits, so cute and fluffy
She's cute
I heard a bang noise in my closet and when I opened it, my bunny thumped and her ears were very forward and a minute later she thumped again. Its weird how I was scared by the noise and so was she, but it wasn't loud or startling, it was just a weird noise that made no sense, and my bunny isn't scared of loud noises
Reason 2...
*THUMP*

Ellie is so beautiful!!!
My buck is 8 months old and has thumped for the first time in his life after I returned from a neighbor who has a german sheppard. Is it because I touched the dog briefly?
Rabbits are one of those animals you gotta reach out and pet as soon as you see one lol. Well, unless you're allergic to them, like me 😒.
Our Louis is so peaceful...I'm not ready for him to hit bunny puberty and start throwing fits and stuff..😂😂😂😂😩
Oh my god she's cute. Rabbit is fine too I guess.
She is cute, in a really intelligent way.
everyone above and below this comment is a simp or prospective simp.
@@montecristo9757 you have a narrow approach to the internet. Simps are male
@@yeeeehaaawbuddy Females can simp as well. Suckers Idolizing Mediocre People. But hey, there's nothing mediocre about this Bunny Lady. :)
@@zaneaguilar5274 first of all, the term "simp" was invented by a moron. Secondly, by definition, a simp is a male. I mean yeah, you're welcome to butcher logic behind language, but the definition of "simp" only applies to males, in the same way that "cunt" applies to females.
I came to hear the reason to thump but i kept watching because youre cute lmao
