Sennheiser HD 560S - Very tight grip at first, but it loosens after some time. Sound is divine.

    Just to clarify, the issue with these headphones requiring an amp (or receiver) is simply about providing enough electric power to the headphones in order for their drivers (internal speakers) to perform correctly because, as you know, not providing a device's required power will usually not render the best results.
    You can get away with plugging these HD 560S to a phone, and you will get an "acceptable" audio. When I plug them directly into my Samsung A12, I get enough volume and no obvious sound failures though it's noticeable right away that exceptional audio quality which separates all sound detail is simply not there any longer as it would if it was being fully powered from my amp. In other words, in these limited conditions, they sound like lesser phones than what they actually are. There is a great video from the channel "Techquickie"
    called: "How to Choose a Headphone Amp and DAC". You will be able to understand exactly what you need as far as power goes.
    Regarding the bass on these headphones, just to clarify what I meant the video. What I mean to say is that their bass sounds better and more real (not more powerful). These headphones don't have a very powerful bass, as they are super-neutral (faithful to the original sound's equalizing, how it was recorded) but their bass does sound great.
    Regarding the earpads being velour VS pleather. I had to admit that, when the summer comes, these end up being fresher (not causing your skin to sweat not nearly as much as pleather earpads so it has its advantages after all despite the difficulty in keeping them dust-free. Basically, in the summer, because they don't create a hot sweaty mess, they offer comfort in that regard, despite their initial head grip.

      @@lockhandel Thank you very much, Lock! I tried to transmit a layman's consumer point of view since I don't possess a technical knowledge heheh. Regarding your question of how my experience has changed with time, the initial head grip problem is definitely not a problem any longer. And these ear pads have actually grown on me because, despite the fact that they attract dust and they might be difficult to clean in case you soil them with any kind of liquid or even sweat, when it's hot inside these velour earpads become more comfortable than pleader earpads since not only they don't concentrate the heat in your ears so much, they also don't make your ears and skin around them sweaty (which would create discomfort) and also don't stick to your skin, so they are much fresher. So, during the summer, I these ear pads are definitely better and more comfortable to use than the pleader ones. I also found that, as long as I make an effort not to wear the headphones when my head is very sweaty, that it's not that difficult to keep them reasonably clean.
      Regarding them being open-casket headphones, despite the fact that it means that you will hear any noise around you when there is noise, it definitely also provides a better, more natural sound quality, and also allows you to not be "cut off" from hearing stuff around you like conversations, etc. I always recommend having both open-casket and closed-casket headphones because there is always a situation when it's noisy and you want to cut off the noise around you, but there's also always that situation when there's no noise and you want to enjoy the open-casket audio quality and also when you want to hear people next to you while you enjoy your audio.
      The audio quality is amazing. I definitely recommend these, even more than I did at the time when I bought them.
      I should say that, I also have gotten a wireless headset (the EPOS Adapt 660) which is also made by Sennheiser, and even though the sound quality is not as good as these, that the comfort and versatility of wireless, coupled with their brutal noise cancelling capability, has won me over and I actually find myself using those more than these, even though these, as mentioned above, are better to use when it's very hot and they also have a significantly better audio quality. The fact that I am constantly moving around my house was key in this happening, of course because wired headphones don't allow you to do that. There are also times when it can get very noisy here, especially now that there is constructions near me and the noise cancelling is definitely a live saver there as it creates a big distance between me and the noise. I actually made a video about those where I express my opinions on the wireless and the closed-casket + noise cancelling features.
      That being said, when listening to music, these are still my go-to choice, as I use the others more for general internet use, mostly video.
      I actually wish there were wireless HD560's heheh. I'm sure this will happen at one point Either a HD560s wireless or a new equivalent. Don't hesitate to ask any question. :)

    Update on my earpads position: Sometimes long-term experience with products changes the way you view things and that's the case right now. In the video, I offer criticism about the earpads on these fantastic headphones while praising the earpads on the EPOS Adapt 660 headset, but it turns out the earpads on that EPOS headset recently developed holes in them and these holes quickly turned into the whole paper-thin pleather layer covering the EPOS's earpads pealing out, revealing the ugly inner sponge. So, basically, while the EPOS's earpads were (and are) indeed very comfortable, they didn't last more than a year. Fortunately the earpads on the EPOS are replaceable... because this headset cost over 300€... I've also noticed that these pleather earpads especially when they get a proper seal (for noise isolation) they get uncomfortably sticky to your ears. The most comfortable and practical earpads (washable) I've experienced so far were just plain fabric. I guess that may be the best material since it's soft but doesn't stick to your skin like pleather and it is much more resistant to punctures and cuts from the abrasion of your eyeglass handles. EDIT: I just got replacement earpads for the EPOS. They're made with cooling gel and the surface which contacts the skin is fabric so they should be less sticky and cooler than the stock ones which just died ;). They cost 22€. Hopefully they will last longer than the stock ones.

      You mean regarding the grip, right? That's a good suggestion. Lately the grip seems less tight to me than at the beginning. I don't know if due to the headphones adjusting to my head of me adjusting to them :) I will try doing that. The earpads are also growing on me, as they don't stick to your skin with sweat or heat as much as the fake leather ones. They are also likely more durable than synthetic leather. I just have to find a way to wash/clean them.

    I didn't watch the video, just saw the title.
    It feels like i'm the only person who instantly found these headphones very comfortable. When I think of the clamp force, I don't think of them as tight, but rather very solid. I would never be scared of these headphones falling off, but I barely think about that fact that I am wearing them because they are so comfortable. I don't know if they're comfy because I have a big head(like 63 cm circumference if I remember correctly), but wouldn't that just make the tightness worse?

    • @Le_Sourpuss
      @Le_Sourpuss  2 года назад +1

      I honestly can't understand how you don't feel them too tight, especially given you have a large head, as you put it. I have eased the tightness on mine by placing them over objects slightly larger than my head and they're considerably less tight now. Have you ever tried the AKG cans I also show on the video? I think that having that as a point of reference would definitely help you see what I mean.

    • @Le_Sourpuss
      @Le_Sourpuss  2 года назад +1

      They do have one advantage over those AKG regarding comfort though - Your ears don't touch the drivers (unlike with the AKG) but the AKG are still way more comfortable despite this.

    • @Le_Sourpuss
      @Le_Sourpuss  2 года назад +1

      It just occurred to me that, and mind you that I don't mean any insult by this so if it comes off that way, please excuse me but, considering you have a large head, your head probably has more fat on its skin which might mitigate the effect of the ear pads clamping down on it. On my head the clamp down effect, especially right after I bought them, when they were still very tight, I would almost feel them cut off my circulation and cause headaches because of this. Having possibly a thinner skin than yours on my head would probably make me more prone to this issue.

    • @williamrosenberg8061
      @williamrosenberg8061 2 года назад +2

      @@Le_Sourpuss You are right! I am fat! Are you a magician?
      That does make a lot of sense though. My thick head probably does make the clamping hurt way less. That's pretty interesting and thank you for making me understand the contrast in experience.
      The only headphones I've had in recent times are; arctis 3 wireless, razer Blackshark V2 and Sennheiser bt 4.40. Out of those only the Sennheiser ones felt tight, but that's because they're pretty small I'm guessing.
      Compared to those 3, the Sennheiser HD 560s feel and sound way better. I guess being fat is a blessing in some ways.

      @@williamrosenberg8061 Heheh, not a magician, unfortunately (I wish). Thank you for the compliment! I wouldn't call you "fat" but you merely having a slightly higher degree of fat than me probably. Yeah, it that can definitely be an advantage in this specific situation. That is a good number of headphones you have used. It's funny that I have two other Sennheiser cans (the EPOS/Senheiser Adapt 660 and the Sennheiser HD300) and they both offer considerably less clamp for than this model. They are both very comfy. There's also always the possibility that this specific unit I have it a little tighter than the average. You never know hehehe :)

    Sennheiser hd 560s or hd 599 which is better for gaming especially for footsteps in fps games

    • @Le_Sourpuss
      @Le_Sourpuss  24 дня назад

      Hi there! Although I have never tried the HD599, according to the interwebs at least, the Sennheiser HD560 would be the better choice for that purpose:
      "Soundstage: The HD 560S has a more precise soundstage, which helps in pinpointing the direction of sounds1
      Detail Retrieval: It offers better detail retrieval, making it easier to distinguish subtle audio cues1
      .
      Stereo Imaging: The HD 560S provides superior stereo imaging, enhancing your ability to locate sounds in a 3D space1
      .
      The HD 599, on the other hand, is known for its comfort and slightly wider soundstage, but it doesn't perform as well in terms of directional accuracy and detail retrieval for gaming purposes2".
      I hope this was both accurate and helpful. Either way, you will probably not be disappointed with any of the two.

Can you recommend similar studio headphones, the main conditions are the lowest weight and comfortable for long shooting in the studio, in all price categories. Thank you very much in advance.

    • @Le_Sourpuss
      @Le_Sourpuss  2 года назад

      Hi Alois! To be honest, I would be lying to you if I told you I knew the answer to that one. The best way to go about this challenge is by deciding the price range you're willing to go to, and then just research like "the best headphones for X". See as many reviews as you can and at one point you will definitely have a winner. For instance. These HD560S are the best in their price-bracket (right now they're discounted - 135€ on Amazon but usually you can get them for just a little more than that). Comfort-wise their ear pads are a little too rigid for my taste, although the velour texture has actually grown on me as it doesn't stick to your skin but they're still a little stiff in the way they fit to your head. They should be softer. So comfort-wise, they are only OK. If you are looking for cheaper headphones though, then I don't know which are the best because I only did my homework in order to buy these ones at this price bracket. But check those review and comparisons. Don't discard other brands such as AKG, Beyerdynamics, Audio Technica, too. And once you find out which of the headphones are best, sound-wise, at that price-range, then you can fine-tune for reviews on that specific model to check how they are comfort-wise. It's also possible that you don't feel the same discomfort I felt using the HD560. You never know, since we all have different shaped heads etc. I wish you good luck in your search.

      What SPL do you listen at? Most audiophiles are completely oblivious to the fact that our perception of FR DEPENDS HEAVILY on the SPL. The HD 560s is PERFECTLY FLAT to the human ear according to the Equal Loudness Contour (Fletcher Munson Curve) at 83-85 dB SPL reference level. If you listen to music at significantly louder SPLs than reference, then naturally the HD 560s is no longer perceived to be perfectly flat.
