It’s not just that people like this view women in a sexual way, they also view trans people in a sexual way. They think a trans person’s existence is a sexual act, often because they’re scared of finding trans women attractive. They think it threatens their masculinity and heterosexuality.
You know he probably sees women as vehicles to his own pleasure rather than fully formed, equal human beings, with thoughts feelings and desires just like him. It's fine to be sexually attracted to ppl of course but to see them as nothing more than sex objects is gross and honestly hard to fathom but he really gives me that vibe especially in that offhand comment in the first video.

Yeah. The thing is in order to make a joke that’s funny you need to understand the context for the joke. This guy clearly has no understanding of issues black people face, so why would he be able to make a funny joke about that context. People like Kurtis or Eddy, while obviously they can’t fully understand on a personal level, know enough they could definitely make a funny joke. (Also just being funny in general unlike this guy). That’s also why usually people who have firsthand experience, such as a person of color making a joke about racism, will generally be able to make jokes about the topic that are actually funny and not insensitive. As it turns out good comedy usually requires some knowledge of the subject, just like good writing of any kind does, from an essay to a script to a book.

Other people here have said it too but I'll say it again: trans women and other people (whatever identity or pronouns) like Dylan have helped me, a cis women, significantly in accepting and learning to love my femininity. Not ever, not even once have I felt mocked by a trans woman. I was very much a "not like other girls" - girl, with quite some internalized misogyny and depression. Seeing femininity and girl-/womenhood be celebrated like that is just amazing. I'm happy as a very feminine, cottagecore woman now and very comfortable in my identity. Transphobes on the other hand always had me doubting myself and what is means to be a "real" woman.
I love how women (cis and trans, straight and gay, ace and sexual) are taking an interest in feminine clothing, makeup, decor, toys, games, &c. But *_Twilight_* . . . ? A friend of mine worked in a women's shelter when the last of those books were coming out. A women's shelter which was, coincidentally, in the real-life Forks, Washington. She loathed those books so much, because of the way they depicted a dysfunctional, abusive relationship - worse yet, one which involved giving birth to a child who would be raised in a household with parents who would provide the worst possible model of an adult relationship. I can't find anything positive to say about the *_Twilight_* series, especially since it is aimed at an audience who are, to say the least, impressionable.

Vampires are supposed to be scary, aggressive monsters. He's not supposed to be viewed like a human. He's killed people. It's not supposed to be a story about healthy human relationships. I personally dislike the reflection of conservative values (like waiting for marriage, abortion bad, etc) but I did like her modernised take on the vampire for the contemporary romance genre. A lot of the stuff people criticised the books and films for were things people saw as too girly, rather than actual deserved criticism of the conservative ideology it represented. The reality is that contemporary romance in general at the time was filled with toxic relationships, so focussing on the one where the character is supposed to be seen as an actual literal monster seems misguided to me. I understand why someone living in Forks would focus on those books, but most people focussing on Twilight didn't live in Forks and they were mostly just complaining because it was a thing women and girls liked.

He tried protecting her but had the conflicting struggle on account of literally being an immortal monster driven to kill and eat people by his instincts. Yeah, he is technically over 100 years old but the readers are not fantasising about a 100 year old man. He looks like a teenager and will never physically age, but is well read, musically skilled, has old fashioned values that many do fantasise about (whether I agree with those values or not), is rich, has nice cars, etc. He's just a fantasy. I guarantee you that the fantasy for most readers isn't about dating an elderly man, but about a young man who seems impossibly perfect. His flawless, youthful appearance being a big factor in what people found attractive about him. He's also not at the school because he's after teenage girls but because he looks like a teenager forever and is just trying to fit in until his family has to move again so people don't get suspicious. He mostly sticks with his family and is seen as hot but very weird and asocial by the humans in the school because none of the Cullens interact much with non-Cullens. So framing it as him being in the school to prey on teens isn't fair. That intent isn't present, and obviously if the book framed it as an elderly man trying to hook up with teens then people wouldn't approve. That's clearly not the fantasy that people enjoy the book for. I understand that you don't understand the appeal, but because you don't understand it I think you're misrepresenting it. The readers view him as eternally 17. Fifty Shades of Grey is different because there isn't a supernatural element. A lot of women still defend it by pointing out that they can distinguish between fantasy and reality, and what is fun to fantasise about isn't necessarily what you'd desire in real life. However, I think the criticism of the man in that series makes more sense since he isn't supposed to be a monster man but just a monstrous man. Big difference imo.

Dylan Mulvaney is so unbelievably brave and strong to put up with all the constant backlash and mockery she does on a daily basis. I appreciate her so much, i really really hope that someday the children out there making fun of her grow up and realize she's just a human being. I'd never have the courage to do what she does and openly take all that critism. I hope someday her bravery and putting herself out there shows more trans people that we have a right to exist in this world. Yes Dylan has an over the top personality and may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but a lot of people forget that Dylan has a theater background. I rejected so much of my femininity growing up in the 2000s and 2010s due to the rise of the “cool girl.” It’s inspiring and nice to see another woman enjoying “girly” things and engaging in them, because I definitely feel like I missed out on it a bit too.

Even some cis people rediscover their womanhood or manhood when they are older. I think every person keeps discovering what their gender identity means to them throughout their life. Cis girls first learn what it means to be a girl when they are kids and Dylan didn't have that chance. I'm happy that she can now.
After I got covid (maybe a month afterwards?) I stared feeling like constant shit. I started really badly craving salty chips, my parents said I couldnt just "eat my feelings". I started getting sick more. I constantly felt tired and fatigued. I couldnt do much without feeling like I was in the verge of passing out. And when i finaly did pass out, I was told it was anxiety. I have POTS (postural Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome). Its an autoimmune disorder that's been linked to covid (aka if you had covid you are MUCH more likely to have it). I was at like the peak of my health, I was outside 24/7, I was playing rugby (though I had to stop because of separate issues), and I still got POTS. Tho there is no way of telling for sure how I got it, I know for sure I had covid and not that long after I got POTS. Covid can duck a person up, I will never live a normal life. All because some stupid ducks decied to not wear and ducking mask. I will fight anyone who says covid is a stupid cold, it took my life away from me.

People not realizing how serious covid is is one of my biggest pet peeves. My grandma and great uncle were both ripped from me in the same week because of covid. My family lost 2 people that week. A few months later, I contracted covid. It's been almost 4 months and my vocal range is still not what it used to be, and as a singer that's very important. I'll never forget what covid robbed from me. Never.

My best friend who is 16 is immunocompromised and COVID for her can lead to pneumonia and hospitalization. My 12 year old brother has a heart condition and COVID could affect him really badly. My 13 year old brother is in remission from cancer and we don’t know how COVID could affect him. Other than just having empathy for other people in general and caring about other people’s wellbeing, these are the reasons that I, a sixteen year old, am vaccinated and care about COVID. The idea that young people shouldn’t care about COVID because it doesn’t affect them is just baffling to me

Yeah. The thing is in order to make a joke that’s funny you need to understand the context for the joke. This guy clearly has no understanding of issues black people face, so why would he be able to make a funny joke about that context. People like Kurtis or Eddy, while obviously they can’t fully understand on a personal level, know enough they could definitely make a funny joke. (Also just being funny in general unlike this guy). That’s also why usually people who have firsthand experience, such as a person of color making a joke about racism, will generally be able to make jokes about the topic that are actually funny and not insensitive. As it turns out good comedy usually requires some knowledge of the subject, just like good writing of any kind does, from an essay to a script to a book.

Other people here have said it too but I'll say it again: trans women and other people (whatever identity or pronouns) like Dylan have helped me, a cis women, significantly in accepting and learning to love my femininity. Not ever, not even once have I felt mocked by a trans woman.
I was very much a "not like other girls" - girl, with quite some internalized misogyny and depression. Seeing femininity and girl-/womenhood be celebrated like that is just amazing. A friend of mine worked in a women's shelter when the last of those books were coming out. A women's shelter which was, coincidentally, in the real-life Forks, Washington.
She loathed those books so much, because of the way they depicted a dysfunctional, abusive relationship - worse yet, one which involved giving birth to a child who would be raised in a household with parents who would provide the worst possible model of an adult relationship.
I can't find anything positive to say about the *_Twilight_* series, especially since it is aimed at an audience who are, to say the least, impressionable.

Vampires are supposed to be scary, aggressive monsters. He's not supposed to be viewed like a human. He's killed people. It's not supposed to be a story about healthy human relationships. I personally dislike the reflection of conservative values (like waiting for marriage, abortion bad, etc) but I did like her modernised take on the vampire for the contemporary romance genre. A lot of the stuff people criticised the books and films for were things people saw as too girly, rather than actual deserved criticism of the conservative ideology it represented.
The reality is that contemporary romance in general at the time was filled with toxic relationships, so focussing on the one where the character is supposed to be seen as an actual literal monster seems misguided to me. I understand why someone living in Forks would focus on those books, but most people focussing on Twilight didn't live in Forks and they were mostly just complaining because it was a thing women and girls liked.

Yeah, he is technically over 100 years old but the readers are not fantasising about a 100 year old man. He looks like a teenager and will never physically age, but is well read, musically skilled, has old fashioned values that many do fantasise about (whether I agree with those values or not), is rich, has nice cars, etc. He's just a fantasy. I guarantee you that the fantasy for most readers isn't about dating an elderly man, but about a young man who seems impossibly perfect. His flawless, youthful appearance being a big factor in what people found attractive about him. He's also not at the school because he's after teenage girls but because he looks like a teenager forever and is just trying to fit in until his family has to move again so people don't get suspicious. He mostly sticks with his family and is seen as hot but very weird and asocial by the humans in the school because none of the Cullens interact much with non-Cullens. So framing it as him being in the school to prey on teens isn't fair. That intent isn't present, and obviously if the book framed it as an elderly man trying to hook up with teens then people wouldn't approve. That's clearly not the fantasy that people enjoy the book for. I understand that you don't understand the appeal, but because you don't understand it I think you're misrepresenting it. The readers view him as eternally 17.
Fifty Shades of Grey is different because there isn't a supernatural element. A lot of women still defend it by pointing out that they can distinguish between fantasy and reality, and what is fun to fantasise about isn't necessarily what you'd desire in real life. However, I think the criticism of the man in that series makes more sense since he isn't supposed to be a monster man but just a monstrous man. Big difference imo.

I appreciate her so much, i really really hope that someday the children out there making fun of her grow up and realize she's just a human being. I'd never have the courage to do what she does and openly take all that critism. I hope someday her bravery and putting herself out there shows more trans people that we have a right to exist in this world. Even some cis people rediscover their womanhood or manhood when they are older. I think every person keeps discovering what their gender identity means to them throughout their life. Cis girls first learn what it means to be a girl when they are kids and Dylan didn't have that chance. I'm happy that she can now.
After I got covid (maybe a month afterwards?) I stared feeling like constant shit. I started really badly craving salty chips, my parents said I couldnt just "eat my feelings". I started getting sick more. I constantly felt tired and fatigued. I couldnt do much without feeling like I was in the verge of passing out. And when i finaly did pass out, I was told it was anxiety.
I have POTS (postural Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome). Its an autoimmune disorder that's been linked to covid (aka if you had covid you are MUCH more likely to have it).
I was at like the peak of my health, I was outside 24/7, I was playing rugby (though I had to stop because of separate issues), and I still got POTS. Tho there is no way of telling for sure how I got it, I know for sure I had covid and not that long after I got POTS.
Covid can duck a person up, I will never live a normal life. All because some stupid ducks decied to not wear and ducking mask. I will fight anyone who says covid is a stupid cold, it took my life away from me.

People not realizing how serious covid is is one of my biggest pet peeves. My grandma and great uncle were both ripped from me in the same week because of covid. My family lost 2 people that week. A few months later, I contracted covid. It's been almost 4 months and my vocal range is still not what it used to be, and as a singer that's very important. I'll never forget what covid robbed from me. Never.

My best friend who is 16 is immunocompromised and COVID for her can lead to pneumonia and hospitalization. My 12 year old brother has a heart condition and COVID could affect him really badly. My 13 year old brother is in remission from cancer and we don’t know how COVID could affect him. Other than just having empathy for other people in general and caring about other people’s wellbeing, these are the reasons that I, a sixteen year old, am vaccinated and care about COVID. The idea that young people shouldn’t care about COVID because it doesn’t affect them is just baffling to me
