In 2025, the EPA will require new trucks to get an average of 55 MPG. Turbos and Hybrids are the way to go. According to IHS Markit, a team of industry analysts and industry specialists, the use of turbos will increase significantly between now and 2025. Small displacement 4 and 6 cylinder engines which use turbos for their torque ratings typically generate their maximum torque at far higher rev ranges than naturally aspirated engines. You have to get high in the rev range in order for the boost to be noticeable, which is why you don't notice any "grunt" at low revs.

OK guys keep your old tundra and also keep your forts and whatever else you have that’s eight cylinder and has excellent miles per gallon of five or six. I really have enjoyed this car so far it has 46,000 miles and it’s running wonderfully. What he is feeling to realize is the simplicity of the belt. Everything is still done in a way that will last and is robust. What they also did is they took the old tundra part and made multiple parts even better including the bed. I am not concerned about the engine at all. I actually love it it has more power and I am getting consistently 20 miles per gallon and when I tow my rv I get 11. So I am completely happy and I am confident that it will last at least 350,000 miles. The old tundra average was 200,000 miles the 1 million is exceedingly rare. Just keep that in mind.

I purchased the 2022 Toyota TRD Limited Hybrid. If you drive normal (55-65 mph) without a heavy foot (Cruise Control) I was getting 24.8mpg. If I drive faster 70-75 or heavy foot I get 20-21 mpg. This is highway driving. Around town I am getting around 18 mpg. I have owned Ram, ford , GMC and the old Tundra. This is by far the nicest vehicle I have had out of all. I tow smaller trailers (2500-4500 lbs) with a drop in fuel mileage but nothing like the drop I had with my old Tundra. To each his own but i am enjoying this vehicle.

Toyota needs to make an updated N/A v8 with dual injection and mated to an 8 speed or 10 speed transmission for increased efficiency. That will make the tundra within 1-2 mpg as efficient as the turbo v6 and it will be much more reliable.

They won’t do that tho. Sad as it is to say as a Toyota driver and fan, they’re going the way of other manufacturers in lowering their QC threesholds & cutting costs excessively. That 3.4 V6 with the stupid turbos is way cheaper to build than a much bigger V8 would be, just as it’s cheaper to use thin exterior plastics that warp w/ sunlight exposure (see Scotty’s other video & multiple owner complaints on that), drop QC thresholds on parts that won’t be in the user’s eye-line, and switch from metal to plastic on almost every significant engine hose & line in the vehicle. These new Tundras might be able to get about 150k miles on em if the extra coolant for the turbochargers is effective & Toyota’s build quality is better than it seems to be on these but everything’s looking like these new Tundras are junk.

Backup cameras are required by The NTSB now. I think they passed the law in 2018. So you'll notice every 2019 to current model year will have a Backup camera regardless of the make or model. The main reason they did it was to reduce the amount of small children being run over because you can't see them. It's a law now. They have to include one.
