She felt she had a right to be mad at him because of one entry in his private journal as a kid that read "I hate my mom.", somehow still decided she is the wronged party and gets him to apologize, even though he can't remember when and why he wrote it. That's Marie Barone.
Heck no! Marie is the worst. I wouldn’t have apologized to her at all at the end of the episode. This is also another reason why I don’t tell my family I have a journal so there is no chance they can read it. Thanks for uploading.

@@janetf3377 oh absolutely, she’s the cause of a lot of things in the Barone family, she tried to break up Ray & Debra’s marriage, she held a deep down resentment towards Robert because he was born illegitimately. All Robert wanted was the acceptance & a bit of the spotlight.
@@andregreen4358 Oh this is why she doesn't like Robert that much? Somehow this is even worst than just not being the favorite child. She was responsible for him not born in a "right way". I watched the 5th season first and then went back to watch the show from the start and the show was not that funny when only Frank was a source of misery in the Barone family, they strengthtened her bad traits in later seasons and in my opinion this made the show really funny, (and the fact they kept the kid stories at the minimum). @@Zodroo_Tint It really does make a lot of sense. Marie and Frank gave in to temptation once. Marie fell for Frank's boyish good looks ("It was a LONG time ago") while Frank just wanted to have sex with Marie (again, "It was a LONG time ago"). This resulted in Robert being conceived and Marie and Frank having to marry since having a child out of wedlock was highly frowned upon in their day. Before you judge Marie, you have to see the ending of this episode, where Marie explains to Debra why it was so painful for her to read Ray's journal. She gets a speech almost a minute long, camera stays on her the entire time, and it packs a hell of a punch -- this show could dive into some very deep emotions in a second, and Marie's explanation is just heartbreaking (even more when you become a parent).
