It's the FIESTA BRUNCH - guacamole, halloumi, poached egg, pico de gallo... oh and the dreaded mushroom....

I tried it, delicious amazing value at £3.99...Wetherspoons seem to be experimenting with slightly more on trend foods, there's a schwarma wrap as well, hopefully they are slowly modernising and trying to attract a wider variety of people.
They have opened a lot of new modern pubs recently and closed some of the old, tired ones....
Yeah, I don’t think it will hurt them to freshen the menus a bit with some more “on trend” items. Younger folk expect a bit more than fish and chips and cooked breakfast ha ha

Looked delicious, if I was on the new menu items team I'd probably push for a small slice of Spanish tortilla included. Not sure what I'd swap it with.... probably the mushroom.

The mushroom bendict sounds lovely, to me, I know you are not a fan 😅 great they have some veggie options! The fiesta brekkie sounds lovely, too 😊

It was a good change but I just found myself laughing because I'd wolf down the mushroom no problem but I probably struggle with the Mexican ingreidents which I suppose are the whole point of the item. Another good review. Thank you.

Really was surprisingly good, and cheap too!
As a Californian and a self-admitted Mexican food snob, this actually looks pretty good. I'm not sure where the halloumi comes in but okay. The guacamole looks a little loose, we usually have it much thicker. The pico looks great and that was a perfectly cooked egg.
The most popular Mexican breakfast is Huevos Rancheros, without question. Basic and simple; a fried corn tortilla topped with beans (refried for me), topped with an over easy egg with a pretty mild red enchilada sauce. It's even better with chorizo crumbles. Add a couple slices of avocado and you have a breakfast that will rock your socks off.
Side note: I really don't understand you and Gary's complete disgust of mushrooms. Hey, you did give it a go so that's good. But it's not simply disliking something, rather a strong hatred towards mushrooms. 🤔 I happen to think that sautéed mushrooms in red wine and garlic is simply brilliant....especially over a nice steak. So when you come over for the bbq, I will keep the fungi out of sight😋
I don't mind the flavour of mushroom, in fact mushroom soup is one of my favourites. But the texture just turns my stomach!!

I can be a little disparaging about Spoons (especially their founder!) but this was actually good, and very reasonably priced indeed. Can't fault it !

Even though you left the mushroom which is an item I'm fond of, you did lay your knife and fork correctly after eating your meal. Fork on the left, knife on the right with blade pointing inwards.
We're posh round my way. cutlery etiquette is VERY important ha ha !

That looked really tasty apart from the mushroom, about the same price as a MacDonald's breakfast and you get so much more both in portion size but variety of ingredients. Well worth trying!
Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be great, especially given the low price. But even the egg was cooked well, everything fresh tasting.
Definitely goi going to try that!
I really was surprised by how good it was, and for the price it was well beyond expectations !

Watcher Greeno, an interesting looking brunch. But makes a pleasant change from "Spoons" normal standard cheap and cheerful. I do have one major problem ( not just with "Spoons") I can't be doing with flaccid, floppy, soggy toast! 😢 Gotta be crispy, pipping hot & unbuttered. Serve food ingredients on the plate. Toast on the side. Orange and Lemonade great combo. So what do we make of the new Wetherspoon's menu? Going to be a winner. Good value for money and settle into the breakfast range. Allan&Family
One of the best investments I ever made was a toast rack. Like yourself, I am no fan of “toast sweat”!

Just a FYI the egg looks like that as is a premade poached egg from the supplier. They just need to warm them up. Nothing wrong with that at all it just helps less skilled people not have to poach and waste eggs from scratch.

Firstly I could not resist adding a small token to acknowledge you trying the mushroom, because I know how much you dislike them.
I know the whole purpose was you trying the new menu item but when I saw Eggs Benedict, that would be for me; especially with the quality of the poached egg you had, that looked delicious. The whole plate looked lovely. I was a bit unsure about the salsa too, it looked a bit out of place, especially considering you also had a good portion of Pico de Gallo.
Thanks again for the support Gary 🙂 I’ll keep trying the mushrooms time to time, maybe one day it’ll just click! You’re right too, about the salsa and pico de gallo, possibly overkill where one or the other would do.

Raspberry refresher? That's good is it? Finely chopped mushroom would be better, as it's the texture rather than the flavour I have a problem with... in fact I made a mushroom soup at home today!
Is it Deano's video you have seen? I spotted he had made one, but purposely didn't watch it until I had filmed and edited mine so that I wouldn't have any preconceived ideas about it. But seemingly great minds think alike ha ha!

the refresher is £2.41 but included in any soft drink meal. so its the most expensive soft drink. it is lovely
i had it at greenock with a under £4 meal.

That alternative breakfast is well worth the price. Now on the right hand side of your seating it does say Gents Downstairs so I assume you are not a Gent ! Otherwise you would have sat downstairs. Only joking. 🤣 I think if you bought those ingredients at home including an avocado etc. it would probably cost you more to make it yourself. Last night there was a thunderstorm here and the grates that are never cleared, cut backs probably, caused problems with flash flooding and a sinkhole just round the corner! So the main road is closed and had to go a different route to do my shopping. Tonight I have had Jersey potatoes, spring greens, carrots and the Speciality sausages from Aldi, which basically meant the pork content was high. Anyway that was yum. Sky grey and raining yet again. It was good to see a different breakfast meal on the menu. My brother is vegetarian and we are meeting up in Southport next Sunday. My sister in law is vegan so it would be interesting to see what they do for vegans. Enjoy the good weather where you are. 👍
Yeah, I think it was excellent value for money. A nice, light, veggie option. I don’t know how much they cater for vegans, or how much I would trust their kitchens to keep things truly vegan to be honest. But at least there are a lot more options more widely available than there once was.
Weather here has taken a turn for the worse, been rain here all day. Not as apocalyptic as it sounds round your way mind!
As for being a gent, well that is a subject that may have been debated at some points I am sure ha ha!
@@GreenoEats I hadn't thought about the kitchen keeping the vegan meals separate. I am sure my sister in law will think about everything as far as her food is concerned. I have to be very careful with what I serve if they visit. There was a great Vegan shop in the market hall but the lady who ran it couldn't make a living with it. I could get Vegan 'cheese' in various forms, yeast flakes which add a savoury taste, vegan chocolate with oat milk etc etc. Plenty of Indian recipes that are vegan though. Made bitter gourd yesterday, a recipe by Chetna who was in the Great British Bake off, she has a channel. She keeps things simple with ingredients that are available. Anyway I shall go and watch the rain whilst I wash the dishes. I am going to try that breakfast for sure. 👍

Halloumi ‘style’ cheese is not halloumi
True, normally made with cow’s milk rather than the traditional sheep’s milk I believe. But the texture and flavour is pretty similar right?

There is no logical reason why certain foods should be eaten exclusively at breakfast .
This is true. Many years ago I used to work with an Indian guy who would bring some kind of veg or lentil curry into work every day to have for breakfast. Completely blew our minds at the time. But what he was eating was far more balanced, and far better fuel for the day than the bacon rolls the rest of us were troughing down!
No don't fancy that.
I was a little dubious going into it, especially given the price, but I was very pleasantly surprised!
