What twaddle ... met completely “direct” yet they always DO the right thing when you’re in need. So I don’t think there is a correlation.

Hmmm. So speaking the facts, or direct is now correlated with mean, not nice. Bad person?! Ok.

I disagree with you. This may be true in a sense, however you are leaving out the sociological side of things. Where you live and the inner circles of that play an enormous part in "nice" or "rude" perceptions. It varies even more so when you interject the parasocial influences. I say this having grown up in middle America; a small racist town. Where I was a minority. I've also lived in Flint, Lansing, and Detroit, Michigan. Having always wanted to escape the weirdness of the Midwest mindset, I thrust myself into a rich Hispanic culture. If I hadn't taken sociology I would have been in literal culture shock living in the beautiful, wild, wild, west: Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a proud Latina, your "usually" is very judgemental.
