This video shows you how to install a cabin air filter on your 2007-2013 Mini Cooper. Cabin air filters clean the outside air coming into your vehicle through the AC and Heat system. Like all other filters, they need to be replaced periodically. Check your filter at every oil change, or if you sense any strange or off-putting odors.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:

I think most car HVAC designers have an ongoing competition on the hardest and dumbest way to place the air cabin filter. They must feel very unappreciated.

I hate messing with cars, it’s just not in my blood but since buying my mini I want to look after it whilst saving costs to pay someone (for the simple stuff) and this took me less than 2 minutes to do. I used the end of a tea spoon and it worked fine, old filter out, new filter in which took about 30 seconds, thank you.

Lol....I just opened up the airbox under the hood, couldn't find the cabin air filter, and only THEN started watching this.

I have a paceman and every time I change the filter a bunch of leafs and other debris come down that compartment. How they manage to get there? Also filters I’m using have no arrows! They have the bmw / mini scripting only so I’ve always wondered which side is down and which is up 😅
