      I agree. Airlines are adding too many flights. Employees are people, people can't do things correctly when overloaded. They need to limit the amount of aircraft being used, but they won't because they want that money.

      BS! A bunch of crybabies have gotten into the profession due to lowering of standards. If you hired people with a proper aptitude for the job, they wouldn’t be overworked at all. It would be a simple thing for them to do. Unfortunately, they hire people who have no aptitude to check, diversity boxes, and for them, of course it’s difficult. They don’t have an aptitude for it.

    • @clinthanrahan859

      Ridiculous! Those with an aptitude to do the job are not at all overworked. Those who don’t have the necessary aptitude are absolutely stressed and overworked. The answer is to hire those with an aptitude and get rid of those who don’t have the aptitude . Unfortunately, the FAA will not do that because of their diversity desires.

      I was a controller for 26 years. They hire in spurts then freeze it for years. And they don't plan ahead. They had a massive hiring spree in the mid 80's to fill the gap caused by the strike firings. That set up a huge wave of retirements in the 2010's (controllers are forced to retire at age 56). It takes 2-3 years to get a candidate to fully qualified. They should have been hiring like crazy in the aughts. They were not.

    • @JasonB808
      @JasonB808 Месяц назад +1

      That is not possible because they have limited space. Large busy airports have more than one runway. It would take longer to taxi a plane without crossing runways and if there is an emergency then you will need to be able to get emergency responders to aircraft quickly which wouldn’t be possible if there was only one route to get there. The recent problem is ATC is short staffed, it’s a high pace, high stress job so there is a high turnover rate, it’s also hard to train people to become ATC. Airports would need to increase landing fees which Airlines would pass down to their ticket prices.

    As a 30 year FAA controller, level 10-12, I can tell you that standards were absolutely lowered to improve diversity. They created a new base level for incompetence. In other words, “once lowered to improve diversity numbers, they stayed low for everyone.” I’m embarrassed by what has happened to my profession. I can also tell you there will be absolutely no consequences or retraining or addressing of the individual(s) at fault. The union, NATCA protects the weak, and the agency protects diversity.

    The FAA in 2012 went to using biographical information to hire candidates rather than training and talent assessment testing (the test that was released in court documents showed things like: You would get 1 point on your score for every high school sport you played, several points if you were unemployed, and surprisingly if you have a pilot's license or previous experience you get 0 points) The FAA is still paying for this blunder and during this time thousands of students paying for their own training gave up trying to get in and moved on with their lives. They probably are not "understaffed", they just don't have enough qualified controllers.
