Nobody could touch them back then. The energy, the melodies, harmonies, vibe. Pure fun. Too bad most folks didn't like shit this complex and ecclectic. They were the shit. Glad they got most of the crew back sharing the stage.
Being born in 79 I never got to see them in this era. Was just a few years too young. They're my favorite band of all time though largely based on their live shows. First time would have been around 93 or 94 and seen them seven times since most recently last December. They are *still* untouchable live.
WOW, I was at this show with a few friends when we were stationed in Japan while serving in the Navy in Yokosuka, Japan! You might be able to see or hear Angelo acknowledging one of our friends in the front row who was a Southbay Skin. Two days after this show we saw The Damned and Fishbone attended that show as well.
I’ve seen them live maybe 14/15 times, talked with them, and they’ve never failed to completely blow my hair back and just be amazing fellas. Them and their beautiful music have been such a blessing in my life.
I saw these guys on the LA-San Francisco circuit so many times in the early-mid eighties on the same ticket with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and also thought that Fishbone was going to be the huge, big stars and that the Peppers were all going to get arrested and never be heard from again.
Thank you so very much for sharing this show! I've been a Fishbone fan since one of my friends came back home from college with a copy of Truth And Soul. That was about spring 1989 and I had never heard anything like it! I went out and bought the EP and In Your Face as soon as possible. I've been able to meet Angelo, Dirty Walt, and Norwood. I still see them when I can. Thanks again!
That's pretty much the best live version of Lyin' Ass Bitch that I've ever seen, and I've seen them play it live a couple of times. Dirty Walt had a regular sized trumpet back then. I wonder when he changed to the pocket trumpet. Pocket trumpet? Piccolo trumpet?
One of the all time greatest live bands.
Best party band of the 1980s - especially in NYC.
Especially at the Ritz
And L.A. of chorus:)
Good ol days. I saw them play 6-7 times in the mid to late 80s. Most fun I've ever had at a show.

I just saw Fish Bone play in September. Best live band I've ever seen. There is nothing like a live fish bone set and the energy they have.
My favorite band in high school. 😢
Top 7.7327.. Most In Flew Enza bands of all known Multi Spheres.
Amazing, love this era.
Rock & roll at its best 🤘🏾✊🏾✌🏾
Bangin E.P. period.

Yeah! This was the first Fishbone tour I saw. I was never the same again! They changed my entire way of life!

Vintage schoolology.. Fishbone is sick.
Fish does not get NEARLY enough attention or press. His drumming has been on point for decades.

Ha! I always read that as "very hot" instead of red hot.
Very not is even funnier!
