Thank you. You know whtnobody has managed to crush us: We have very good education, and have had for centuries (in our own language and available). Education gives strong minds, especially if it lasts for centuries. Nobody can any longer bullshit you when yoy have an informed and hungry mind. And all that in your own language, includong university level. Only 47 nations in the whole eorld can get higher education in their own language. That makes a nation that is able to create written culture and research, create a country, create functioning legislation and carry everyday democracy running.
We ironically oee this to German church fathers who were the first to translate Bible into Estonian in 16 C, write it down and it all wemt from there. To simply it and make a long storu short.
Thank you for your kind words and wrlcome to Estonia.

Whenever I hear this rendition, I feel as though I can hear the centuries of pain and patriotism of the Estonian people. I see the tears in the eyes of the crowd, hear the pride in their voices, and I can't help but to be utterly inspired. The story of Baltic independence is definitely the most beautiful and inspiring epochs of history I've had the pleasure of researching and writing about.
I hope one day I can count myself as one among such a distinguished crowd at Laulupidu!

(I've just started studying Estonian, so there may be a lot of mistakes.)

I love their beautiful patriotism, and how they respect their ancestors and their history, and come together as one, to breathe as one, and to celebrate their wonderful country and their lovely freedom, in such a beautiful way with song!! I'm so very proud of them, and cannot help but shed a tear as I watch this wonderful video. I so wish I could have been there myself to see this, and to feel this, amazing gathering! Estonia began to be born when I went to high school and the day I graduated was the day our currency came into being. So my high school time completely happened during the birth of the country. I remember doing my homework every day while the TV was on and there was constant arguing going on about our future legislation. My dad was listening to it every freeking day.
I am very happy for your mother. I am happy that I can live the majority of my life in free Estonia, not that it is a perfect country. There is a saying in Estonia that we have what it takes to create an almost perfect society. But we are also too lazy for that :)
What about you? Have you ever been here?

    *My Fatherland Is My Love*
    My fatherland is my love,
To whom I've given my heart.
To you I sing, my greatest happiness,
    My blossoming Estonia!
Your pain boils in my heart,
Your pride and joy make me happy,
    My fatherland, my fatherland!
    My fatherland is my love,
    I shall never leave him,
Even if I must die a hundred deaths
    Because of him!
    Though foreign envy slander you,
You still live in my heart,
    My fatherland, my fatherland!
    My Fatherland is My Love,
    And I want to rest,
To lay down into your arms,
    My sacred Estonia!
Your birds will sing sleep to me,
Flowers will bloom from my ashes,
    My fatherland, my fatherland!

As a Brazilian who lived between South Africa and USA, I am totally engrossed by the power of this singing, the love for The Fatherland expressed by the Estonians as they sing "Mu Isamaa on minu arm." I can't help but am in tears to think about the history of this beloved people. I've never been there, do not know any Estonian, but my heart is gripped by this people... ahhh Estonians... your resilience and love for your country is a charming, powerful example to many in the world... your passion as you sing your national anthem take any sensitive heart to another level. Thank you for this. You are indeed a beautiful people, beautiful country, an amazing example of love for your own land. I enter 2021 in couple of hours inspired by who you are. Long live Estonia!

Absolutely love this song. Such pride, such togetherness. I would very much love to come and witness such a beautiful event. I also love the director and how much his heart is in this performance!

Agree. Also what I love is how, unlike patriotic songs from many other countries, there is a complete absence of any militaristic trimmings. No tacky jet plane flyovers like in the some other countries. Just love for country and community expressed through this beautiful song.

    English translation by Karl Karlov
My fatherland, it is my love,
To whom I’ve giv’n my heart.
I sing to you, my greatest joy,
    Estonia of my heart!
Your pain within my bosom seethes,
Your happiness joy to me breathes,
Your happiness joy to me breathes,
    My fatherland, my fatherland!
My fatherland, it is my love,
And I will leave it ne’er,
    Even if a hundred deaths
    On its account I bear!
    Though strangers’ jealousy defame,
You live within my heart the same,
You live within my heart the same,
    My fatherland, my fatherland!
My fatherland, it is my love,
And comes the time to rest,
Upon your bosom I will sleep
    Estonia, my bless’d!
Your songbirds slumber to me sing,
And blossoms from my grave will spring,
And blossoms from my grave will spring,
    My fatherland, my fatherland!

    My fatherland is my love,
To whom I've given my heart.
To you I sing, my greatest happiness,
    My flowering Estonia!
Your pain boils in my heart,
Your pride and joy makes me happy,
    My fatherland, my fatherland!
    My fatherland is my love,
    I shall never leave him,
Even if I must die a hundred deaths
    Because of him!
    Though foreign envy slander you,
You still live in my heart,
    My fatherland, my fatherland!
    My Fatherland is My Love,
    And I want to rest,
To lay down into your arms,
    My sacred Estonia!
Your birds will sing sleep to me,
Flowers will bloom from my ashes,
    My fatherland, my fatherland!
    Estonian version[edit]
    Mu isamaa on minu arm,
    kel südant annud ma.
Sull' laulan ma, mu ülem õnn,
    mu õitsev Eestimaa!
    Su valu südames mul keeb,
su õnn ja rõõm mind rõõmsaks teeb,
    mu isamaa, mu isamaa!
    Mu isamaa on minu arm,
    ei teda jäta ma,
    ja peaksin sada surma ma
    see pärast surema!
    Kas laimab võõra kadedus,
    sa siiski elad südames,
    mu isamaa, mu isamaa!
    Mu isamaa on minu arm,
    ja tahan puhata,
    su rüppe heidan unele,
    mu püha Eestimaa!
    Su linnud und mull' laulavad,
    mu põrmust lilled õitsetad,
    mu isamaa, mu isamaa!
