One of the most heartfelt national traditions of any nation in the world! SPE-CTA-CU-LAR!!! I believe it is very uniting through the emotions felt by everyone gathered together in one place, singing and realising the enormous power of the join impact of all of the voices. And the goosebumps must be never-ending!
I´m an American who served in the Peace Corps in Estonia 96'98. I sing in the Baltimore Washington Estonian Choir and have had the honor of singing in the Laulupidu twice (2014 / 2019). It really is an awesome experience as you describe. Very moving, emotional. I have been missing singing in my two choirs, and really worry that COVID has killed choral music for many years to come. I was really looking forward to participating a third time in 2024, but I´m not sure it will be possible if we have not eradicated COVID. Anyway, thanks for your post. Did you know there are 33,000 singers singing at once on stage )about 10,000 are children placed on the ground). I have sung alongside women in their 80´s and even 90´s.''some are survivors of horrific things that happened under communism making it all the more meaningful when you realize as your singing how much the Estonian people have been through and how much they´ve overcome. I hope you have had the chance to experience it! Sounds like you have!
I've tried myself to translate this beautiful Estonian chant into Italian.
They Fly to the Honeyhive Tree English transltion by Karl Karlov They fly from blossom to blossom, And fly to the honeyhive tree; When threatening storm clouds glower low They fly to the honeyhive tree. And even if thousands should fall ‘long the way Thousands more reach home that day, And come with their worry and care And fly to the honeyhive tree! And thus, in angst-enfolded times How I long for my homeland; Whether at home or far away, I yearn but for my homeland. And although tempests rage and howl And death bullets around me prowl, Fear of death is discarded, Resolute, I rise towards it.
Kaks fakti laulu kohta: esimestel Eesti vapi kavanditel olid lõvide/leopardide asemel mesilased. Ning naljakam fakt Rohke Debelaki libauudistest: "Neljapäeval kaotas purjus mesilane suurel kiirusel Tallinn-Narva maanteel vaeva ja hoole ning lendas mesipuu pooleks!" :D

There are a lot of Estonians in Australia and she was singing in Estonian. When I was there everybody stood up at the Estonian Games in Melbourne and sang the Estonian national anthem, Mu Isamaa, Mu Õnn ja Rõõm ... 💙 🎼 🇪🇪
yeah, there quite a few choirs from other countries (they just have to learn the songs in estonian and the best ones are picked out from around the world) so they bring their own flags and some estonians who live in other countries come to sing too
This is so beautiful. Brings tears to my eyes. One day I will move to this amazing country from the US. It is my dream.

There is no way around it - you HAVE to come and participate next time! :)

Si vola di giglio in giglio
si vola sino all'alveare
le nuvole fan scompiglio
ma si volerà all'alveare
Sulla via ne cadono in mille
Arrivano a casa altri mille
e fan la fatica di amare
e voleranno all'alveare
Cuore, o cuore, è un'epoca nera
so quanto vorresti restare
a casa, da oltrefrontiera
quanto tu vorresti tornare
Sospirano venti di morte
Tu lascia gli strali volare
Morire non è la tua sorte
A casa si deve tornare
This seems even more poetic than the original. Thanks.
The song was used in a Belgian Docu about - THE NEW IRON CURTAIN - this is so beautiful
Eesti nr 2 hümn!
Ikka nr 3 - teine on "Mu isamaa on minu arm!" Aga see on kolmas kindlalt. :)

You can display other country flags?

对不起,我很自私,我儿子才24,两个女儿的儿子都太小了。
