Always love your videos! You have a very calming voice. Love seeing that the guy who made the Lantern gets to be here. You literally said that in your last Alan Scott video. Question for your Q/A videos: I find it interesting that Alan Scott originally was defender of the green (aka the planet). Do you think an argument can be made that the reason he was actually protecting the White lantern's Life entity that is inside Earth? Maybe Grundy's power come from the Black Lantern in someway.
I was pretty nervous about this issue because of the subject matter but they handled everything really well. I usually dislike non-Batman stories when they use Arkham, but I loved how they still represented the Asylum as a place of horror, it’s just a type of horror that was more “acceptable” back then. It’s only with empathy and hindsight that we can see Arkham had always mistreated its patients. I was not expecting them to bring up the new Red Lantern so soon and I hope we get some more lore on the source of his power. Before Geoff Johns’ run, the last place the Guardians collected magic from to form the Starheart was Ysmalt which later became the home for the modern day Red Lantern Corp, and with so much old stuff coming back after Infinite Frontier, I’d love for the story to explore the Starheart’s connections to Ysmalt in some way.
If the red lantern is Johnny than his actions against Scott here and what we know of the Bio page that Scott wanted to continue being allies after war would make sense why Scott would be so open to someone who attacking people associated to him like that
I love this new version of Alan’s origin, I always thought that Alan’s origin had so much room to be more fleshed out in a graphic novel or a miniseries or something, I’m glad that potential is finally be used in a new and entertaining way.
Small little lettering detail that I don’t know what to make of: when the lantern is saying its spiel to Alan after the wreck, its text starts out as red, then turns to green as it goes on. I have no idea as to what the implications behind that are, other than the obvious one, that there is a connection between the Starheart and the Crimson Flame, on a deeper level than I had originally thought. Excited to keep reading this story and to hear your thoughts on it.
I don’t have many thoughts other than, what a good retcon (if I’m using that properly, I’m never sure lol), thank you for the great video, and I’m so glad I found your channel! 😊💚
dan!! love ur review as always. this was a fantastic issue. action scenes have always taken the backseat for me when it comes to comics - I'm much more interested in lore and interpersonal relationships. so ive loved these 2 issues. I have no familiarity with alan scott, but the retcons do seem to make his origin a lot more powerful, connected, and emotional. this issue made me cry, with all the deaths and how billie ended up. i assumed that they ended up lobotomizing her since the shocks weren't working. the bandages on her head give it away. the lantern bringing billie "life" is a sick twist but I guess no one said the rebirth would be decent or moral. johnny is probably the red lantern but I would love to be surprised
I’m really enjoying the retcons from this issue. The cycle of death and rebirth makes a lot more sense to me than the flame’s original speech of flaming “only three times.” I was never a huge fan of the Starheart retcon (how can the Guardians have rounded up all the Chaos magic in the universe if that same magic still exists in the Lords of Chaos, Earth magicians, etc), or that of Yalun Gur (or, however it’s spelled), so I’m hoping this newer one will produce some more interesting stories.
Just found your channel and I love it. Green Lantern is one of my favorite characters and Alan Scott is my favorite one! Keep doing your thang!

Loved how the original story got remixed here. As a remixer myself, I loved this. Cannot wait for the Red Lantern.

DC: "Hey, how best can we ruin a classic character?"
Homophobe.
