Wow. Almost 10 years later. I remember hitting this on repeat when Luke dropped this. This song still holds up 10/10
minus the garbage mix lol
Facts
For everyone saying he's "showing off", obviously... It's a cover. He's having fun doing it and what he does is cool.
Sam M That's what drum remixes are all about! And he's great at it anyways, if people want to see the exact drum track on the original song they should just go look at drum cams, not covers.
this bullshit about "show off" is spread by those assholes who find out that there are way better musicians than their idols...
Sam for me this isn't what i would call "showing off" because it just adds a little showman ship when a drummer does it. My friend does this whenever he's performing and it always gets the crowd going
Sam he’s done this many times to perfect it. You are watching a new movement of someone young just ask Jason Richardson
F*uck the haters, dey be jealous they cannot slobber his candle in talent.
I don't know why i watched this over and over again..since 7years ..
Freaking awesome..can't get over. makes my heart beat like a drum 🎶🎧
As most of us do haha it's too good
finally a drummer that don't have 18 rack toms 12 floor toms and 300 cymbals this is proof you don't need a huge drum set to get huge sounds. great drummin man
@@joereid8065 Drumsets are more like sharp tools to get the job done.. Massive drums implies different play styles and modes. Yes having a large set can mean they can do alot of things and still not play to the song.
I just keep coming back to this. This cover, the Ignorance cover, and the Mis//Understanding cover are his best to date I think.
Hunter Parker: I am in utter agreeance with you, sir. I also love the original Ellie cover of his, "Starry Eyed", because she is my spirit animal; as well as the MGK cover, catchy and so well suited with MGK's style of hip-hop/R&B.
His remixes weren't really written. Not fully anyway. Just improv'd. but i agree all his remixes are pretty sick
I love this one too. He's on point the whole way through. I even put this exact version on a cd cuz I think the drums make the song so much more intense!
This cover never gets old... Blows me away every time
Luke Holland is one of my favourite drummers. his fills & grooves are beast. he adds such incredible emotion to his drumming.
Watching Luke play is a brilliant way to convince myself that I still suck. 😐
+Myles Clayborne Jep :D same felling here.
+Myles Claiborne Never put your self down man, if you put work in you too can play like that!
+StuDrums skills can be improved, but face can not
+Myles Clayborne That's ture Haha
dont compare your inside to someones outside . Wont hell you at all .
A phenomenal balance of technique, talent and showmanship.
Metaphor to describe LukeHollandDrums videos: Lukes' percussion is the cakes inner breading; laying the foundation making it very full and fulfilling, his stick tricks are the frosting; ridiculously tasty/memorable, and the very few (albeit epic) video effects are the sprinkles here or there.
Also;
Whoever edits your videos used special effects how they are supposed to be used. Major kudos. That screen effect at 3:11, right after that pause, not too much effects, not too little effects. Less is definitely more. Bravo.
10/10.
Chris Browning Completely agree; they're the definition of artistic taste in the ways you described and more. You can't look away from them but in a good way. It's rare to encounter artists that can so consistently capture attention.
I get goosebumps every time I watch this cover, which is literally every second of every day. SO GOOD
Personally one of my favourite remixes of his. Its just the raw emotion and power he puts into this one makes it the one I love.
This is some of the best drum work I've seen from Luke, and that's saying a lot. I felt what he was playing, there was so much emotion and power behind it. Great job as always Luke!
The thing I'm especially happy with your drum covers is that the volume of your playing is high enough that the original song stays in the background and thus sound quality is extremely enjoyable.
Creative and full of techniques that most people don't even know what the heck are. Very clean, composed, and yet still full of energy. Boom.
Wow its been 6 yrs after ive watched this for the first time. My first video of Luke! Still shook! Goosebumps! He added so much flavour to the song..love love!
Man.....this is how the music to this song should be. Gives it much more feeling. Great job as always, Luke!
This is probably one of my favorite drum remixes, I absolutely love this. Luke, you are great. So extremely talented, and I admire your skills. I'm sure Ellie Goulding would LOVE this, if she hasn't seen it.
Very talented and creative drummer, so fun to watch!
I can't get enough of his drumming. It's like heaven to my ears. You're awesome!
I don't understand how anyone, ever, could say you're overrated! You are with every bit of the hype. You took a good song and made it great
That was fantastic. I really enjoyed this.
The cymbal work in this song is just fantastic...geez. I didn't even noticed until the 300th viewing...
I absolutely fell in love with this! Ellie Goulding and her songs are great, especially Bittersweet. Being a fan of heavier music in general, this remix has certainly become my favorite remix ever to exist. Well done Luke.
i still jam this like it was the first time I found it. Can’t believe it’s been 7 years now.
Hope you’re doing good.
Luke is & always will be my absolute favorite 😭
Who would dislike this? SMH! Luke is a beast!
Uhhh, people who thinks that they play drums better than Luke? But in reality, they suck AF.
when it comes to remixes this for sure your best. can't stop watching it
Years are gone. Still awesome.
Your energy and passion when you hit the cymbals is practically orgasmic
This is so amazing. I have goosebumps all over my arms and legs because it's ahhhh incredible, and I can see that he has goosebumps on his arm too :3 he knows that he's awesome.
olanis97 do u love him??
I love this remix! It's so technical and yet so melodic. It's so complicated yet so simple. I'd love to see more of these types of remixes!
Please do more Ellie Goulding remix's, you add such an awesome element to her music.
After I lost my mom 3 years ago, she told me you need to play to more skrillex and dance music... and I did, it got me tighter, more technical, yet i still was made fun of by other drummers? I love how they hate. You are true inspiration man! Don't let haters words affect you. Use it as fuel to burn them drums up! YOU RULE!
Still a favorite in 2019
never heard this song till today lol
Same this song I think have listen to it 100 times over the course of the last two days 😂
My eyes are tearing up! Luke Holland, you are incredibly talented.
I would love to see a video of Ellie Goulding reacting to this vid! Simply amazing!
This is still my go-to video when I'm buzzed on caffeine and look for inspiration - not just for drumming, but life in general
This is still amazing. The amount of musicality he manages to put into a song with nothing but wooden shells and metal..! Always a pleasure to watch and listen to!
And of cause... Gotta steal from ya ;-)
This is my favorite video by you! It made me cry. I love it, it's so beautiful!
Wish this was on spotify
I have to watch Luke over and over again. Definitely awesome! 😍
3:11 is the part that gets me.
ya me too
Petunia Pennick yeah when it goes BOOOMMM
'Can't believe it's been 4 Years already..
Saw/met Luke at the Meinl Drum Festival this year, such a fantastic guy..!
Ellie Goulding needs to have you do that as a remix and make it available.
I agree. I'd pay for that.
I agree with this
Larry Pedringer i'd pay too
this guy.....this guy.......hes the only person on youtube i care to watch. thanks man.
Hey Luke, I would love to see what you can do with Rhianna's "What Now"! I hope you read this because you could make that song bad ass!
^
Wow..
i'm newbie in drumming
I've watched this video so many times, and seriously never noticed that you tried muting the cymbal at the end, missed it, and went with it anyway. This video is truly amazing, incredible work.
This remix makes you feel like you're in another world when you're high. #truestorybro
omg yeah it dose
haha yea it's pretty cool
clifford andrews
>dose
agreed
Luke, I have been watching your videos for ages now, and ever since I've gotten to love your style and everything about your videos. What I really admire about you is how you show that you don't need a ridiculously huge drum set in order to make an awesome video. It's not the size of the drum set but it's the drummer themselves and thats why you're one of my favorite drummers on youtube!
I love the looks of the drums!! Sick purple stripe. You are the shit dude! The floor tom sounds heavenly.
The drums are so busy, yet sound nice and chill. Love it.
watching luke playing makes me challenge myself to practice more, he is like a beast that bitten me, infecting me, turning me also into a beast and the difference of us both as a beast is that he is my master and i am only his sidekick LOL.
This. Is. INSANE!!! I don't know how many times I've watched this since my friend showed it to me a couple of weeks ago, but his passion is indescribable. I'm dying to see him perform now!!!
Do us all a favor and show us how you tune your drums, they sound heavenly
One of my fav luke covers !!! Been here from 2013!
Self taught!? That's amazing!(: Very talented(: I wish this cover was on Spotify!(:
This should be a recorded collaboration and available on iTunes. I don't know how many times I've watched this over the years but it's awesome every time!
1. watch on 0.5 speed
2. try to learn his moves
3. cry, cry a lot :
I would really like to say to you Luke, i have been watching all of your drum covers and you are by far my favorite drummer keep it up and i hope you guys come back to grand rapids.
why can't actual radio pop songs ever have drummers like this featured on the original track? is modern culture really so dumbed-down that phenomenal drumming would mean less commercial success?
People connect with music differently. There's a reason dance and pop have always had that bmm tss ka tss kind of beat. It's easy to dance and move to. Most people, especially non-musicians, don't care about the technical aspect of drumming or music. They like how it makes them feel, and honestly busy drumming like this just doesn't suit the music.
LeSpartahara yeah, i suppose this is correct. still an overall bummer though lol
Beach Dreams I feel you. Being a drummer, I thought busier and more complicated things were always better but my appreciation for simple and minimal beats and music grew. Everything has its place. Dynamics, man!
john smith The majority of people do like pop music, and there's a reason for it.
great question though. A good example is bring me the horizon. As they got more and more popular, the drummer became less technical.. coincidence?
He has every right to show off he is awesome . I could t stop watching his video he's really good . I love watching people play drums they never get enough credit and always in back behind other musicians. I enjoyed your video thank u xo
Shit, it is 2017 and still can't let this video go
Been watching him since Cinema. They just keep getting better, my lord.
Luke Hollands good and all, but I juss love how passionate he looks when playing! That's the way I am!
This has to be my favorite remix he's done. But then again I have like 20 other videos on his channel that I need to catch up on.
your best cover, its full of energy and tech shit wich not alot of drumers on you tube do its only you and cobus thate put thos toogether .
this is one of my favorite videos on youtube. I cant stop watching!
i swear ive watched this video like 1000 times
keep comin back here. memories
@2:02 Is he starting to well up/get emotional or is that just me? Fecking fantastic drumming. Makes me feel alive listening to it.
Can't........stop.......watching......this. Kick ass cover of an awesome song. Ohhhhh repeat Uuut !
I'm impressed, less then 100 dis-likes per year....not many videos on youtube with positive ratings like that.
You know, I agree with fatharian in that you are just insanely talented, but your comment is why I personally love watching your videos and interviews with TWA. You're one of the best drummers I've ever seen, but you just have the best attitude in the business. It's so refreshing.
Anyone else come here from the Memphis Drum Shop video to see him play with emotion? ;)
*raises hand*
David Lee yiiiis
David Lee ME!
+David Lee Watch his Paramore covers if you want to see some emotion.
Omg, I'm crying of proud. Your performance is shoot me from my heart. This is excellent.
you are amazing and I think I love you haha
Honestly my favorite thing about you, is how much you love doing this. You can tell how excited you are for everyone to see it just from the discription
I think this guy can play the drums...
Best drum solo I've ever seen hands down! 👐
The only thing I can find that I dislike about this video is his hat. his snapback not his hi hat.
TIP: just close your eye's.
your welcome .....sincerely the panda =)
I seriously listen to this everyday! Defiantly one of my favorites.
Watch 3:10 to 3:16 at 0.5 speed
how you do the speed thing?
alina cristina How do you do that?
Your covers never cease to amaze me! My boyfriend and I have been watching you from the start and we're always impressed. It's so nice to see people doing what they love.
any 2019ers in chat?
This is by far my favourite remix of yours.
Those arms..
Can not stop replaying this
Wow he’s come along way! First off just how much his skill has improved and second his technique is so much better in 2018! Can’t wait to see more of this dude killing it and Inspiring musicians
You can see so much musical growth from his stuff before he started touring to this. Yeah, it's overplayed but there's still different things showing his discipline. Dude's gonna be a crazy drummer one day.
One day? My dude here over the years has made some of my childhood idols look like amateurs. Dude is killing it!
What impresses me most it's the line that you create to this beats. Be amazing and you don't abandons your style to play ! Sorry for my english. You are awesome!!
easily one of the best drum covers i have ever heard, and ghee, listening to drum covers is all i do, keep it up man
whoah it has been four years since this vid was uploaded and still is cool. such a timeless cover!
You and Cobus are some bad ass drum playerers
I can't even imagine just how much better Luke will become. He's already extremely good and progressing at a ridiculously high rate, so how much better WILL he get? (Better yet, how much better is it even physically possible for any person to be? Does he even have a limit?)
Always a great Luke classic
Those are the best sounding toms I have ever heard!
Truly amazing cover. At this point in your covers i wouldn't even say you play over songs, the grooves you write fit 100%
2:06 i get pumped up every single time i listen to this part
