  • Here's a little video I did of a display case that I made as part of the Poor Man's DIY Origami case challenge. I made the case out of one of the pretty pieces of scrap Walnut that I had in my shop and some Maple for the Kumiko. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did making the case.
    To find out more about the challenge check out Richard and Jennifer's RUclips video here;

    In the video I used a new sled that I made for making Kumiko panels. Turns out it's really good for box joints and half lap joints as well. Here's link to that video.

    I also mention in the video a trick I learned from my RUclips buddy, Shaun Boyd. Here's a link to the video he did on that:

    Shaun hangs out over at Chris Salomone's site now and the two of them make some incredible things and their videos are very entertaining. Check them out here;

      Thank you, Alberto, that means a lot to me. A big reason that I got into kumiko is because of your videos. I have to make the guides next so I can do work at 30 and 60 degrees with the chisel. Definitely check out Shaun's work...he is very good with modern design and just fun to watch.

      Thanks...I'm sure your design will be incredible...I felt the same way about kumiko until I made the jig that would at least get the 90 degree pieces right. Anything in a grid pattern is now relatively easy...I think you should give it a go!
