This is just my point of view, I was looking for a coupe but still wanted the 4 door option at the same time I don't want it to be amg because amg has a heavier steering wheel which I hate. So for me, the cls is the perfect combination. It looks like a coupe but its comfortable to drive and has the 4 door option.
😂just bought a 2023 and yes just not ready for the look of an E.. wanted a little bigger than my C300 with a bit more power! Great review. Totally agree even tho I love it❤
Imo this is one of the best cars Mercedes has to offer but this generation they’re trying to kill it. They don’t offer it in a 63 because they’re trying to get people to pay 60gs more for the amg gt63. And they don’t market this car at all when they should be I wouldn’t be surprised if they kill it off and it’s a damn shame because this is the car that created the 4 door coupe segment
as someone who is looking to pick up a pre-owned off lease (currently 2019 or 2018), the only way to get into the new i6 is by going 53 (which is fetching $10k over asking right now because of the chip shortage), or going CLS because the E class still had the v6tt until the 2021 update. I have driven both the v6tt E and '19 CLS and the new motor is absolutely worth opting for. I was mostly looking for a E450 coupe, but after driving the new i6, I think I'm just going to look for a 19/20 CLS or wait for a '21 E-coupe.
It’s not rocket science. Some people want the swoopy looks but don’t care about sportiness. This car combines the looks with a luxury ride. Not everyone wants a sports car, even if they want something more stylish than an E-Class
Mercedes has unfortunately answered this question by putting out the AMG GT 4-door, making the CLS irrelevant. So it's time to exit in it's current guise, but it may be able to return as an EV, oh wait, AMG has an AMG has a dedicated model coming in 2025, so same scenario again, so it's time to exit until a case can be made for the CLS' relevancy.
Lane departure is very aggressive 😂. I always wonder if my brakelights turned on. I love this car tho, rare not to many on the rode and looks the best to me, thats y i got it. Love it. Love ya take on it tho👍
Jeff, this is EXACTLY my problem with damn near ever new car. It's not worth it because they're not that interesting. A 10 year old XJ drives better than new Audis at less than 1/4 the cost.
Everyone has a e class and to get the options the way I want in a amg the way my cls is equip will cost 121 grand vs my 98 grand cls. Top spec cls 450 will cost around 110 if I added the designo seats and paint
Not gonna lie, the thumbnail made me think this was a review of the CLA. I’m sure in person it’s easier to discern but still from afar this doesn’t scream “look at me, I bought a more expensive Mercedes”.
What are you plans with it? Trade? Private Sale? Or just keeping it/paying off note?!? Are you a big MB fan, or is this your first Benz? Just curious. -Vette Owner
@@RandallJT84 Mercedes isn’t allowing lease trading/swap right now. I’m a huge Mercedes fan also! I lease one every 2-3 years, I’ve never had this problem. The ride is a real issue. It’s at the dealer now for 1year 10k service, left front tire has a bubble in the sidewall (replace) left rim is bent (replace), and alignment $2700. It’s so unrefined it’s embarrassing. Im gonna inquired tomorrow about my buyout.
@@michaelcohen4428 I've heard nothing but frustration over Benz owners through the years. I wouldn't doubt an exit by the CLS450 in coming model years. Just seems like an "out of place" paper weight at this time. I don't necessarily track MB news often, but what really irks me as a lover of v8's is that AMG is ditching the v8 for 4 cylinders??! Just awful news to hear imo.
@@RandallJT84 I’ve heard some horror stories though I’ve never experienced any problems personally. You’re absolutely right about the V8s, This car has a V6 it’s turbo charged and it has some sort of electronic hybrid launch assistance. But I miss having a V8. Unfortunately it looks like that’s a thing of the past. I don’t care for the GT class, I feel like a limo driver in an S class, E coupes are too feminine. Mercedes is running out of options for me. 🤷🏾♂️
@@RandallJT84 Honestly I would love a C8 Corvette but I’m not paying a markup, And when I tried to test drive the car FLT Chevrolet dealership was rude. Their customer service totally turned me off.

Spot on review, I had to turn that “ Lane descent” off! It’s scary and embarrassing! The car slams on the brakes if you turn the lane lines!
I agree. This is one of their best cars if you have personality. I find the E Class to be way boring to look at.
The problem with the CLS IS THE AMG GT 4 DOOR. ALL BENZ SHOULDA done was use this as it's only larger COUPE SEDAN. And IMO, THE AMG GT 4DR IS UGLY!
Nice and realistic review. Keep it uo like that. Funny interactions with your daughter btw ^^
For real! It's not a coupe! But I think your kiddo stole the show with this one. Her impression of you is spot on LOL
Dad appears frustrated, Sloan is adorable. You do make some solid points, though.
Wondering does it fit a baby seat at the back? I’m exploring to get a 2nd hand CLS53

You nailed it. My thoughts exactly.
Why does this car even exist. I thought the amg gt took its spot. It’s an overlapping vehicle.
I have this car. The ride is way too rough over bumps. It’s HARSH! Feels like a lowered civic.
