I haven't seen the movie " Gangs of Lagos". However, I'd like to say that growing up in Lagos Island, I can confidently say that during the Eyo festivals, people disguise and infiltrate the masquerade to take revenge on their rivals. Erelu gave a brilliant interview. Some have said it's fiction and Hollywood movies show violence in films all the time, how many thousands other American movie genres are there on Netflix compared to the handful of Nollywood movies? Some foreigners hunt for insight into our culture through these movies. Alas! What we see is desecration of our customs and traditon then a free for all g*n fight at an Owambe party as if this is a normal occurrence. In a bid to be Western at all cost, we lose ourselves and our heritage. Oyinbo will protect their own and make you believe it's better than yours. We can do better.

They have five ruling houses in Iperu namely, iga Amororo, iga odoru, iga Agbomagbe, iga pakerike, which is head of Eyo. The festival still perform in Iperu up to date. I think she needs to retrack the history and get it straight.
