Are you sure it’s Brazilian and not East Indian rosewood? I didn’t think that was available anymore, and because of that, if you were able to find one with Brazilian, the cost would be much higher. East Indian is great too..
I have one ,hated it until i put brass pins , what a difference. I had other guitars and the pins didn't help but on the RK it sounds great For $700 it is ok
These Recording Kings are impressive. The materials are Adirondack Spruce Top and East Indian Rosewood. We have since fixed the pickguard so there should be no problems. It has a bone nut and saddle and we use a v neck shape - this comes down to personal preference. Thanks for reviewing the guitar. We are always trying to make accurate designs and with great play ability. Thanks again.
This isn't a model of the D-28 other then being D sized. It is similar to a HD-28 with herringbone body trim but its actually more like the Herringbone D-28 Martin no longer sells that was the D-28 Marquis which had an Adirondack top (they may have recently brought the model back if I remember right). Also, the D-28 Authentics have Adirondack tops. The Ebony pins sound best in these. With bone pins the sound goes very deep and you might then, to power it, need to use medium gauge strings but otherwise with Ebony pins, light gauge strings sound fine. These have maple bridgplates which are a plus and some imports don't use maple which is the classic of a Martin style acoustic guitars used by almost all the top builders and the best imports RK, Blueridge and Eastman. Recording King/Music Link own their own factory in China so can better control production is my understanding.

I got my first guitar in 1977, yet this week was the first time hearing of Recording King.
I played a 318 and a 328 both great sounding guitars. The V shaped neck turned me off the RK's. Now, I'm looking at the Martin d13e and Eastman E8. Love the videos. Keep up the good work.
Thank you sir! I really appreciate the comment. I honestly wish I’d seeked out some Eastmans prior to buying the Recording King. I’m still happy with the purchase, but I’d love to have compared them. I hear nothing but great things.
what string gauge do you usually use on this guitar? Mine came with 12 gauge, the 13 were too thick for the nut grooves. If you‘re using 13s, do you experience some caving in of the top?
Hey there! Sorry for the late reply. I was using 11's on this video, but now I go lighter because it's easier on the fingers. Here's a link sweetwater.sjv.io/q4Prkb
My pic-guard, off of my RD-328, started peeling off, up towards the neck tip area. I replaced mine with a, thinned down, wooden one(COCOBOLO). It looks better and sticks now. I replaced my pins right away, first too bone and then to ebony. My guitar was set up by Chicago music exchange and they did a great job, no fret buzzes anywhere. I too use Elixir (80/20 phosphor bronze coated 12 to 54's) brand strings on mine too. I've done several videos too and love mine. I just purchased a Martin HD-28V and I'll be comparing this guitar to that soon. Great video. And for what these cost, and for what you get for that cost, is crazy good value. But bottom line is these guitars look and sound very good.
Love your review. I have found a lot of what you've discussed, to be the same as what I've encountered in other Recording King models (RP-10, ROS-10, RO-318, RP-342 & ROS-729), with the exception of the nut width...all of mine have had 1.75" nut. One thing I'd like to add, is the RD-328 is a replica/copy of the Golden Era Martin D-28, back when this model had forward shifted scalloped bracing. The RD-328 is more like the Reimaged HD-28 than the modern D-28. I'm not sure why RK put the skinny 1.69" nut width on these, but they fixed that with the RD-342. I'd really like to hear/see a blind shoot-out between a well set-up HD-28 and RD-342 (both have a 1.75" nut) of the same age and same strings and by blind, I mean a dimly lit room with the headstocks covered up, so that only playability and sound were a factor.
This guitare have a very nice sound👍😉Have you tried the others models the rd-318 with mahogany back and side ? I have seen they have also the RO (000)models with same ref 328 and 318 with a smaller bodyshape but with a wide sound too. They have also the 342 models but it's too expensive for my money. Have you tried them, what do you think if yes ? I have found also the harley benton Cld 41 wn witch are very competitive also with all solid wood and with spruce top and walnut back and side but the neck is at 43mn thiner than the recording king but with the same little v shape neck with the volute back the head as the recirding king. It seems they sound really nice too. I'm looking for one of all these. Any advice to give me ?

You’re right! My slip up! It is East Indian Rosewood!
if it was brazilian it would be the best deal ever lol

Great job on these guitars. Worth while better than taylors ...of much more $$$$
I can get this new for 20 percent off the regular price. I'm thinking ... I'm thinking. I do wish it had a pickup. I do have a spare hardshell case.
I say do it!

I’ve bought bought the dreadnought and reso this year. They’ve been great so far.
I think you just helped me decide on my next acoustic. Thanks!
You’re very welcome!

Picked up a used rd277 it’s ridiculous how good it looks, plays and sounds for the money!
Agreed!

Interesting! I’ll be on the look out for an RD-342. Thanks for the post.

When you say hardware... You're just talking about tuners right? 😜😁 Bone nut and saddle and pins... And no strap pin... Lol
