I saw a family fishing SC today in OB and they caught a Garibaldi and a cool accidental lobster bye catch. All on cut bait shrimp and squid, some big spoons too with bait on em" all catch and release

I always use sewing thread tied to the hook. have 8 inches and after you hook up the bait wrap the string around the shrimp ,but, don't tie it.
chmellen i rarely use live ghost shrimp but i have done what you just said. its a good tip. adds a little more time to those that dont have patience but it works!
Next time go up to where the people jump off the cliffs and go at high tide. Throw out swimbaits or dropshots, and you'll slay the calicos. I've been 10 or 11 times and caught two white sea bass as well.

Been trying to find some good shore spots. Not having much luck at mission jetty, Spanish landing or shelter island.

I usually tie the ghost shrimp with some pinkish thread to avoid flinging them when I cast. You ever try that?
i tried magic line or whatever but thats just too much work imo.
+Bearz Fishing I get it. I have tried that too. I usually just get a roll of thread and wrap it up around the shrimp to the hook and it helps to keep them from coming off. The fish don't seem to mind either

Okay that is not a black sea bass, It is called an Opaleye and they are some of the worst eating because of their vegetation habits.

yeh i have tried surf but it's not really surf season yet i think. i'ma wait till water gets colder so them perch can go wild for sand crabs.

all over ob. the cliff is easy. drive along until you find parking and a trail. there are over 15 spots to fish in ob
