I think Asus has been doing a great job in this smartphone - love the beautiful design and the choice of the features are incredible as well. The Mediatek support is brilliant and capable of a consistent user experience.
Precisely, the SoC integrated DACs on the ROG 6 Pro/6D Ultimate and Xperia 1-IV/Pro-I pale in comparison to the dedicated HiFi ESS Sabre DACs we were getting with LG and the ROG 5.

@@Blessed.2.Teach.4God The 6D version uses a Mediatek chip and not a Snapdragon chip like the 6 Pro version. Meaning unless you have a Snapdragon SoC in the phone, it will not support Snapdragon Sound. Which is Snapdragon's latest Bluetooth sound tech. On the Mediatek 6D version, you still have regular aptx adaptive which the bitrate scales up to 420kbps. With Snapdragon Sound, Aptx Adaptive can scale up to 860kbps and it includes Aptx Lossless which scales up to 1,250kpbs or 1.2mbps.
It does not, it uses a Mediatek MT6338 SoC DAC which is vastly inferior to a dedicated HiFi DAC like the ESS Sabre series from ROG 5/LG V60. The ROG 6 Pro has a better SoC DAC than the 6D Ultimate and supports higher resolution wired audio (384khz/32bit vs 192khz/24bit) and bluetooth codecs (AptX HD since it's properiarity to Qualcomm/SD chipsets from my understanding, not Mediatek).

I think I'm going to do the same, I didn't realize the 6D Ultimate's MediaTek Dimensity was inferior for audio (since AptX is proprietary to Qualcomm and it's also only 192kHz/24bit vs 384khz/32bit from the 6 Pro).
I find the 6G a lot better than 6 Pro and still more affordable. That's because the Dimensity 9000+ chipset in the device would make a pretty affordable option.
