I had the pleasure of owning one of the early 911's (1966). Took delivery in December of 1965. I proceeded to "tweek" it and the result was a labor of love. I first saw this vehicle in the Porsche dealership in Innsbruck Austria when I worked at the Winter Olympics in the late fall of 1963 when it was called the 901. It was love at first sight. Singer has indeed created a masterpiece that any 911 fan will enjoy. Now to win the lottery (grin)
What made the early 911's so much fun to modify is that there were so many factory parts available for them, like 27 mm sway bar kits that made them handle like a go-cart in turns, and S heaterboxes and R mufflers (which were hollowed out and tuned) that gave them that distinctive 911 sound. I had a California Highway Patrol officer chase me for over 30 miles just to see what was in it.
I don't usually like anyone messing with the old Porsche models. Cost a fortune to restore back to original spec. I feel we are guardians if our 911's until the next owner BUT this car blows me away. I have NEVER ached to own a car so much. It took me 27 years to afford my 996 TT. I won't be able to have one of these though I can dream. Stunning. I need to win the lotto
Tweaking my old 911 was fun. Mags, R suspension, exhaust and a few engine mods made it very fast. At the time there were very few tweeked ones here in the us. Spent a ton of money at Vasek Polak
Sadly, I don't think I will ever own a 911. I fell in love with my uncles when I rode in it when I was five. Since then it has been a 38 year obsession. I love singers but I would love to own any air cooled 911 from any decade.
Way overpriced? Why, because you can't own one? Yes, they are expensive and only available to the wealthy, but my god, what a car! If you don't appreciate a Singer for what they are, well, you obviously don't 'Get it'! I would love to send my Porsche to Singer with a blank cheque
I absolutely adore these cars but I could acheive similar with a 964 and a fraction of that money. There is a Pagani level of personalised engineering here and that comes with a cost but $300k is still a great deal. There are other companies that do this every bit as well as Singer, it's just that Singer have got the high level exposure.
I'm sure this car gets a lot of looks and attention at Porsche club get togethers/meets/shows. Kudos to the owner for daily driving it - that's the way it should be. Is there a SVD 911 Targa out there somewhere/ in the works ?
Most of these owners aren't the club/meet types, from what I gather. As for a Targa, that's between Singer and their customers. What's coming next from Singer is cool, but it's not a Targa!
Great Car, great re-design! But I resent the fact mr Dickinson calls old 911s tired! Porsche original design is a timeless work of art that has transcends generations Porsche 911s will never be tired, a 911 even in a state of disrepair is still classic!
Hey Brian. Hope all has been well with ya. Remember when we had a discussion about porsche and the pdk..? I'm a die hard manual guy..lol Any way, Here is Rob. Who seems to be sharing the same brain as you and I..lol I LOVE THIS rendition of a 911. No aides except for ABS. A pure drivers rendition of the best sports car in the world..imo. No flashy look at me shit. I would love to be able to afford one of these..lmao as I'm sure you would buy one too..lol Maybe one day if I hit the lottery you can come to the N.East and do a review of my 911 Singer reimagined Porsche. I'll put some Hockey on for ya...lmao..Just kidding...lol As alway; love your reviews and I wish I had your job..lol Take care my Canadian friend. Jay.
+jason irrera Hey Jay! I sure do remember that! We just filmed the Boxster Spyder and, man, that is a car that deserves a manual. I'll drive your 911 by Singer, but I don't watch hockey! Ha ha! Seriously, a 911 restored by Singer is pretty much automotive perfection from my perspective. My mate Dickie Meaden sums it up nicely in his recent vid for Evo and says that if he had to drive one car for the rest of his life, it'd be a Porsche by Singer. My sentiments exactly. Take care, Jay!
+Brian Makse I saw Dickies review too. And I TOTALLY agree..lol FWIW I dont follow hockey either..lol. And yes the Spyder is a superb machine. I'm subscribed to your channel so I'll keep my eye out for the Spyder review. Thanks for the quick reply sir..;)
+jason irrera Any time! We've got AMG GT S vs 911 GTS all set for Tuesday, at LA Auto Show this week, and we're currently working on a beautifully shot piece on Aston DB9 GT.
Great car, some amazing looking roads as well. Not sure about the voiceover though, seemed not to suit the rest of the video. Congrats on an amazing car though.
Waqar Ghulam the car is amazing the review is terrible watching 2 old fat guys getting shaken about is not what we want Just show the car and nothing else
Things I would change or ask for if I could afford the Singer treatment. I want the original gas and oil caps locations. I personally don't like it sticking up in the middle of the hood. I want a sunroof. Even if it means the car may gain 40 to 50 lbs. I know at Singer they remove the roof and replace it with a carbon fiber one to save weight. I want AC and I want mesh style 3 piece wheels. Sorry not a fan of the Fukes. I don't think there ugly they are a nice looking wheel. Just not on my car. I like the original headlights. The ones with projector bulb that he uses doesn't work. I like the refracted lense look better. "Although they may not work as good". Last thing and this is it. I want a classic Porsche 356 wooden 3 spoke steering wheel. But everything else he does I like. Here is a $350,000 check. Make it happen!
Brian Makse That must of been awesome to drive that car! What is it? 350HP that's damn good for a 6 cylinder 2 valve engine. I have a 1987 Porsche 911 with the factory M491 option. I brought it 10 yrs ago I couldn't afford to buy it today. Its not a Singer. But I can't afford there treatment. My car is stock when it comes to the engine and transmission. And it runs pretty good with only 210HP. It would be incredible with another 140HP. I love Porsche! When I was a kid. "Poor Kid mind you!" A neighbor used to drive by my house with a 911 it was red and I think it was a 1970 model year. It was a hard top with a sunroof. And he'd drive by the house with it in first gear at about 4 to 5k RPM. It sounded so good! And I loved the way the car looked. He ended up selling it and getting a Mercedes. I asked him "Why did you sell the Porsche?" he said he was getting old and was tired of shifting the trans. Of course this was back in the early 80's. Wasn't much interest in the early cars like it is today.
1137rr Brilliant car you have there. If I recall correctly, the car I drove was 360 hp. Truly the best car I've ever driven. Very much the ultimate air cooled 911, perhaps the ultimate 911.
***** Luggage space is pretty much irrelevant in that car. You know what you're getting into if you install the fuel cell. Still, I could live with a 911 by Singer on a daily basis.
The larger fuel cell when filled improved the balance but also massively improves safety in a potential crash. I use one in my race car for good reason.
Brian Makse Not to mention that the wheels need to be 17" to fit around the brakes. The "Big Red" from the 993 Turbo are slightly larger than an original Fuchs wheel could fit over.
Its very nice but why not take an old 911 and apply some of the ideas here for a tiny fraction of the price. Sure its done extremely well, but its certainly not rocket science.
Sure! whatever ! Heavy or light people..seat belts are suck! Certainly an engineering mistake! If you are a thin person, you certainly do not need to seat belt! Good luck!
This is an exemplar of pandering to the "rich" market. Original (and funky) Porsches can be brought up to modern specs quite handily in one's garage. Carbon fibre? For what? Give me a break. I bought a bathtube 356C back in the day for $3K , gave it a lube, changed spark plugs and a proper wax job and off we went. Fast, fun and cheap for local blasting. I also owned a couple of lightly modified '75/'77 Datsun 280Zs. Between the two marques, the Datsun was the better car for my purposes, which was long range cruising (Charleston, SC to Chicago, for instance). No oil consumption, 21 mpg at 80+ mph cruising and with proper swaybars, Konis, and Michelin XWS, could cut the crap out any corner you like. Further, with a 35 dollar substitute chip, I could pull 6500 rpm (~145 mph) in fifth all day long. Those cars have big radiators. Singers are for dentists with more money than brains.
350 000 dollards for this ? it's a joke ? ok it's beautiful porsche (the best porsche for the exterior beauty?) , but for the interior , it's not 100 % singer .... for me the max price for this singer it's 200 000 dollars . for the perfect car transformation look the Equus bass 770
+TheRevolutionnow watch Chris Harris's review. then you'll understand why it costs that much. It is actually pretty cheap considering the quality of parts that go into one of these Porsches. I had a California Highway Patrol officer chase me for over 30 miles just to see what was in it.
I can watch this over and over again and not get bored.
+Nicholas Gomez I'm jonesing to drive another one!
Such a work of art. I can't even imagine how much goes into these cars.
4000 hours.
I don't usually like anyone messing with the old Porsche models. Cost a fortune to restore back to original spec. I feel we are guardians if our 911's until the next owner BUT this car blows me away. typically they start with a car that is heading for the scrap yard. thinking it of actually saving a 911 and giving it new life.
just bought a 1990 964..truely brilliant. dont wait.. buy one..
Tweaking my old 911 was fun. Mags, R suspension, exhaust and a few engine mods made it very fast. At the time there were very few tweeked ones here in the us. Spent a ton of money at Vasek Polak
if i won the lottery, i would be his best customer..great job..
Outstanding!
What Singer does with 911s, I wish there were companies that did this for all great, classic sports cars.
no, better keep it this way.
Sadly, I don't think I will ever own a 911. I fell in love with my uncles when I rode in it when I was five. Since then it has been a 38 year obsession. I love singers but I would love to own any air cooled 911 from any decade.
attitude is everything my friend
You never know dude cars rise and drop in price all the time Porsches will be affordable again.
yea hopefully
mzondi1970 get a 996 while they're cheap
Say Vandelay! lol great episode
Magnifique préparation! I Love it !
LA CLASSE ABSOLUE ET TOTALE!!!!!
Being a great singer seems to be a mix of sound, looks, showmanship. Agree?
Finally 1080p HD... It's worthy of more but this will do for now :)
Perfection
wow... finally done.... love this car....
Way overpriced? Why, because you can't own one? Yes, they are expensive and only available to the wealthy, but my god, what a car! If you don't appreciate a Singer for what they are, well, you obviously don't 'Get it'! I would love to send my Porsche to Singer with a blank cheque
perfect Car !
thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for watching!
At last, ;-) Masterpiece - Very well done!!! And many thanks...
This is the end all and be all of the 911.
now 22 those little fuckers!
It drives me insane with all these people questioning the cost of a Singer. Labor alone is at least $200,000.
And if you doubt me, the man himself said it takes 4000 man hours to build one. Times that by at least $50.
If you love 911s and just spent $350,000 not on a singer911, you're a fool.
Singers are way more than that aren't they?
LOVE...!!!!!!....... This beauty makes me wanna live in Need For Speed Porsche Game..... I adore it....
if i could afford this car it would be my only daily drive.

+Poon Handler 964
964
That would be "Technical Dreams".
If you mean the piece right off the top (when Brian is speaking), that's "The Fountain of Truth".
I miss Catherine Wheel but glad Dickinson has found a professional life post-rock and roll.
This was a decade ago. I think Rob’s doing alright.
@@BrianMakse Yup - CW is top of mind for me because I got repress copy of their album "Chrome."

I think what he meant is that they prefer to work on cars that have a high mileage...

+jason irrera Uh oh. Which track is that?
Where does the name Singer come from? I know he was in music before he started this venture so I'm wondering If that played a role in the name.
LA CLASSE TOTALE ET ABSOLU....
Hi Brian, Love this Singer 911 "Indonesia" do you have some hires photos of this beauty you could share whit me?
Thanks in advance. Szabi
What is the name of the Russell soares tune being used in this video?
Kirk: You can find it here: russellsoares.bandcamp.com/album/music-for-cars
Track #3. Cheers.
I love it.
But when will Singer start producing F40's?
Isn't the inside of the front getting wet when raining because of the hole in the hood?
Wish I did! All I've got is the video.
Great car, some amazing looking roads as well. Not sure about the voiceover though, seemed not to suit the rest of the video. Congrats on an amazing car though.
More like $ 600 000 now. The car is stunning
These 16 nuts who disliked this must be insane.
Don't worry about it. There are lots of those people around the world.
Waqar Ghulam the car is amazing the review is terrible watching 2 old fat guys getting shaken about is not what we want

Give Singer a call! It's clear you know the quality of their work. I drove this car over a year ago, but it's the one I dream about every day.

I need to start playing the lottery
equally priced with a cup car?
This one is worth about two complete GT3 Cup cars. I saw it again in LA last week. What a beautiful 911.
hey, the steering wheel is on the correct side!
Indeed! It certainly worked for me!
Gas'n'Oil Seeing as Porsche is German, and they drive on the right side, it's actually on the incorrect side.
I think he used tired as in many miles under foot and in need of a restoration. He is always extremely reverential to every 911 built!
Per chi vuole customizzare il prodotto teutonico come si vuole snazzicachannel
What does Porsche actually think of singer, just wondering. I envisage Porsche acquisition in the future.
In reality, no, but it’s wonderful speculation for the Internet.
very nice! But the wheels are too big...
Thank you! The 17" wheels are required as modern, high performance tires really aren't available in smaller sizes.
Brian Makse
Not to mention that the wheels need to be 17" to fit around the brakes.
The "Big Red" from the 993 Turbo are slightly larger than an original Fuchs wheel could fit over.
Please put this car in GTA V Online
***** Please.
Mattyew Just get the Comet Retro and upgrade it alot
one day , i will have the money.
My lottery car.. Otherwise, I don't understand how they can ask in excess of $300K for one. But it's certainly working for them ...
4000man/hrs×$50an hour/minumum=$200,000. That is just labor cost alone. Now you can understand the price.
Everyday 911? I need a new life!
Its very nice but why not take an old 911 and apply some of the ideas here for a tiny fraction of the price. Sure its done extremely well, but its certainly not rocket science.
4000 man-hours wtf wow
Probably more man hours with the latest restorations.
And you'd need to be an alien to afford one!!
7:17 wearing the seat belt around your neck as you are doing. I can bet that any impact, it would be better not to use it
I'm 120 pounds lighter than I was then, so, whatever.

Great car terrible review
thanks a lot (NOT)
i want to own a 911 like this now!
$350 000. is a deal
+Michael Harris We shot this video over three years ago, mate. You can't get a restoration from Singer for that little any more.

The only bad thing about singer is rob Dickinson
That makes no sense.
