  • Kalanchoe Tomentosa, or also known as Panda Plant or Chocolate Soldier, is an adorable slow-growing perennial succulent with cute grayish-green leaves that are entirely covered in tiny white-silvery hairs and edged in dark chocolate-colored that will grow up to 2 feet in height and diameter. It is a very attractive plant, especially when it blooms delicate tubular-shaped flowers in Spring and Summer.
    Additionally, Panda Plant is fairly easy to care for and does not require much attention to thrive. So if you are a busy office worker who tends to forget to water your plants or someone who doesn’t have a lot of gardening experience, then Kalanchoe Tomentosa is the perfect choice for you!

    I have one that gets mostly shade and mottled shade but has been through a few days in the low 120s and dozens of days in the 110s and incalculable days in the 100s and is thriving. Actually just had to repot it cause it grew faster than I expected.
    In the time I've had the plant its also lived through a hurricane, and evn temps in the low 30s with a rare bit of snow. This plant is a survivor.

    What about using the plastic pots with string in the bottom and you water them from the bottom?

    My mom bought this for me early September without knowing what it actually is. So today, I decided to use google lens to find what species it is and led me to here. What's worrying me is that I haven't given it proper care before this for 4 weeks 😅. But thanks for the video! Also, is it okay for my succulent to be out in the sun for the whole day 3 times a week since the sun here will rise at 7 am and set at 7 pm? My school bus usually arrives at 12 pm and it doesn't have enough time to absorb at least 5 hours of light if I put it back indoors before my bus. I can't really hope for anyone in the house to do it since it's only my grandma and siblings because they tend to forget about my reminder. Plus, it's a bit too heavy for them.

      Hi there! Please check out your succulent after a long time of your caring method, whether it thrives well or not. If yes, you may just keep going. If not, you may consider to put your succulent in a place where it can get 6-8-hour filtered light per day (when the sun shines on the plant through a barrier such as other trees, a glass window or thin curtains).
      Hope your baby grows so beautifully 💞

    my plant is dying so I'm hoping to revive it, and maybe get a few propagates in case it goes south. does anyone know tho, if I already have potting soil, would small rocks/pebbles from outside work or do I need to buy pumice specifically? I'm not sure where I'd find it or succulent potting mix around here unfortunately
    but ty for the great vid! hopefully I'll return in a while with the update that toby is doing better

    Hi succulents box! Is the stem also going to rot if the water gets too close to it? I water it from the bottom but am still worried about the water coming too close to the stem.

    Im late to this but I have a question. I just recieved my new plant and its larger, but has a very small amount of roots. Should I plant it in a smaller pot considering the size of the roots are smaller?

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  Год назад

      Hi, usually we'd recommend choosing the size of the pot base on the width of the plant. You might want to check our blog about this topic for more information, hope it would help 😉 succulentsbox.com/blogs/blog/choosing-the-right-size-pot-for-your-succulents

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  2 года назад +1

      Hi there, thanks for following us, It is best to have a sandy, well-draining soil. A soil that is made up of at least 50% perlite, sand, and other minerals will aid in drainage.

    I beg to differ on spraying these plants with water. How do they survive out in the wild if they would just rot up everytime it rains?

      Really deoends on yhe environment. Deserts tend to be dry and hot and moister evaporates quick. Where I live my plant is outside and get wet occasionally. I also live in a hot dry desert
