Jeep corrosion warranty

  • So I'm sure like you we had the dreaded corrosion issue with our Wrangler. Jeep and my local dealership took very good care of us. They gave us a rental for the whole time they had our vehicle as well as allowed me open access to their work area to film the whole process. We got new doors, and hood as well as new hinges for our hood and doors. The tailgate was not worked on and I was told that before the warranty expires or it gets worse to bring it in and they will take care of it. If you have any questions feel free to ask away and I will reply with any information I have.
    dealership is National Dodge Jeep Ram in Jacksonville NC

    Looks great…hopefully it holds up..I wonder if there’s a way to prevent the issue instead of fixing it once it happens, like to remove the hinge and paint the bare metal and or use a gasket type material between the dissimilar metals..

    • @overlanding21
      @overlanding21  17 дней назад

      @@chrisschulze8081 I asked the same question and was told no, the fact that there was bare metal underneath it and exposed to the elements that it would be a matter of time even if you rhino lined the vehicle. That was my original idea when I first bought the Wrangler.

    Steering wheel is on the wrong side of the Jeep. You need to take that thing back and find out what they did :D

    What a shame, Jeep knew about this corrosion problem for years and never did anything to correct the problem, they only took action in late 2023 after a class action lawsuit! ......Sadly, the most long lasting durable paint comes from the factory! Jeep Rubicons cost a small fortune and this should have never happened! Maybe the engineer was a diversity hire!

    Dude that Jeep is too new to have any corrosion. I have a 2013 with almost no corrosion. It is awesome they are doing all that work though.

    • @overlanding21
      @overlanding21  Месяц назад

      @jackcapella2707 I've seen new 2023s on the dealership lot getting bubbled, and the salesman told me that they can't fix it till it's sold. But I agree it shouldn't be a problem if things were done correctly from the factory. My 2011 never had this issue, I got rid of it because I was getting 9mpg and wanted to do a bt4 4 swap but with the ecodiesel coming out I decided to get one. I don't regret it as it's nicer than the interior of my 11 but dang the issues that I'm having or had sucks.

    There aluminum panels, not metal. If it's warranty, Jeep needs the doors back. I have fixed a few of these for my dealer. Most of the problem is there is no primer between hinge and panel.

    I have a 23’ High Velocity Yellow AEV Rubicon 392. I’ve been hearing more and more about this.I begrudgingly checked mine yesterday ( because I got nervous, lol ) and so far so good. But like I said, it’s a 23’. So......when/if it happens, I’m gonna lose my everloving mind! That’s some ridiculous shit right there. A stupid problem to have on a $117k Jeep! I’ve had 4 Gladiators and 3 Wranglers since 18’...I guess I’ve just not kept any long enough to see this happen! I did make it through the Mexican frame welding issue unscathed though, Hahahahaha! I went through my Bronco phase as well late last year and early this year. I’ve had 4 of those! Still have one and my 392....Jeep stays in the garage mostly. I almost traded this thing for a Z06. Maybe I should revisit that idea before this problem starts! Also in N.C. btw...Wilson.

      @Sebrof3 if you need to hire someone paying your wages to afford all those toy let me know I am your guy ;) lol.
      But yeah doesn't matter how much the end product cost the doors are the same from a base sport 2 door to a 392. I've see people with 24s have the issue already. And when I first found out about it I ran to check my Wrangler. When there was nothing last year around Christmas I thought I was good. But around February I seen it coming in. And there are thousands of people complaining so I figure it's just a matter of time. A lot of people are just out of warranty.

      @mtibbe the owner will tell you to get the rust-oleum paint in the qt size can with a foam brush and it will match it. But no powder coating will get in the corners. They are definitely paying out a lot in warranty work. Paint correction, high pressure fuel pumps, clutch plates, steering boxes. I do think the Wrangler doesn't have much longer to go with tightening emissions, being a brick driving, but I think getting rid of the diesel was the start of it.
